Just wanting to know does the bottom drain push water to the jets and bio filter with out the use of a electric pump?
Great tips and they worked flawlessly in my installation, I even used the same Loctite PL Roof and Flashing sealant as you did in this video, so after I installed the bottom drain I read the label on the tube of Loctite and a couple of things stood out, that being it has a 7 day cure time and it's not recommended for under water use although the majority of sealant is actually sandwiched between the flange on the underside of the liner there is the sealant that is exposed between the bottom drain and liner at the drain opening. I hope this stuff works as well as your advice on everything else.
I'd use an Aquarium sealant.

Love all your videos..Made very nice.. I have a issue with new concrete pool. I've treated with vinegar for a week and other treatment but still high PH. 9+ all the time. I have a few tester fish and they're not doing good. I have mortar rocks on the inside of pond touching the water and believe this is the problem. I want to put a liner all the way to the top of the inside of pond over the mortar rocks. Should i leave it the way it is and hopefully the ph would go down naturally or add liner?
hung916 The vinegar is probably not strong enough. You should acid wash the concrete with murriatic acid. It's much stronger and more effective.

Here is a little hint that might be a bit helpful for you.
when you are using sealent anywhere and allmost anykind you can dip your finger in dishwashing soap ( for manual washing dishes )
mix a big part soap and water, and dip your finger in it.. then smooth out the sealent.
- now the sealent wont stick to your fingers, and you can make it look alot better ;)
you can also spray the soapwater on areas you dont want the sealent to stick to before you smooth it out.

If I use a liner and rock the bottom of my pond, will a bottom drain still work affectively?

ThePondDigger I am torn then. I would like a very affective system that is plug and play but like the idea of the pond looking natural with rock. I will forget about the bottom drain then. What would help to compensate for a lack of a bottom drain? Would you recomend a bead filter on a 3500 to 4000 gallon pond, two skimmers etc?
Where does the bottom drain drain too?
Bottom drain goes to the filter gravity fed. Then the pump is on the other side of the filter pumping clean water only. Google pond filter setups you will see how it works :)

What is the sealant you use. Loctite PL something?
have you ever experience. or have a homeowner complain about mole or a rat digging up hole through the liner, and cause a leak?
Could I use no nails?
tospicy4ya It's important to use the stainless steel screws to attach the bottom drain ring to the liner.
No Nails isn't water proof, all you'd need is the tiniest of drips getting to.it & it will ruin it, I suggest you use the screws & Aquarium sealant

Don't use these PL flashing stuff. Use silicone, or marine grade silicone.
