MIP streaming was helping me last wipe with the 3070's VRAM, but this wipe it seems to simply not even work sometimes. I get something like the LOWEST possible MIP level occasionally even on Factory which is super odd! Anecdotally, I have ended up turning it off and Streets appears to be running better.

To put it simply... If youre maxing your CPU already, MIP will require processing power from the CPU to work, which will take away resources for the game, giving you worse perfomance. So this is only beneficial if you are encountering problems due to vram limits. As MIP will offload GPU vram usage to a virtual ram cache via your SSD, being controlled by the cpu... Seems to only be beneficial if you have an older GPU or a lower end one with limited vram.

Yes but in theory, with such a bottleneck and such great CPU that you have, you should be getting way more improvement with MIP streaming, it just shows how bad the implementation of it is in the game. EFT is very CPU intensive.
i have tried turning my texture quality down to low and turned on mip streaming as well but my vram still gets to 7.5/8. All settings are turned down but cant find a fix. Any tips?
so here’s my question then, if mip streaming only makes sense if you have a gpu bottleneck and not a cpu bottleneck, how do i determine if my cpu or my gpu is the bottleneck? ik nothing abt this technical stuff man i just want to run streets at a playable fps and to look down a zoomed scope without dropping to 10 fps
if your GPU runs at 100% usage than it can't output more frames. in general what ever part runs at 100% usage, that part will be your bottleneck. Keep in mind tho that this isn't true for all games, espcially in tarkov. Tarkov is such a CPU/RAM heavy game that those 2 are often always your limiting factor.
best for me was textures low, to save vram AND have everything loaded, and shadows medium to offload load it to gpu instead of cpu. Mip streaming needs to be off for me, because it stresses the cpu, managing and loading textures.
I got a Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 GB RAM and a RTX 3060. I think the CPU bottle-necks because the graphics card barerly touches 80% usage. How do I get more FPS? I already turned down everything on low, playing on 1600x900 with ~100 FPS on customs/reserve.
MIP Streaming shouldn't effect your sniping capabilities but you probably have one of those two issues (with either CPU or GPU). Seeing as most people have a CPU bottleneck, you might be a bit worse off with it on in avg fps, but it may feel a bit smoother overall (less hitches).

The "MIP streaming disk usage limit" is how much of your SSD (or HDD yikes) is reserved for texture streaming. It is indexed and as long as you have an SSD of pretty much any modern speed then it doesn't matter how fast your read/writes are. It will be fast enough for filling textures on the fly. Yes, it's in MBs. Edit: I just did more testing and now I think it's actually the speed the game reads the drive for texture streaming. Why is everything in this game so janky and cryptic? ~_~
I have found mip streaming does not really help at all I play on a 1050ti and mip streaming made the game worst when I turned it off it was actual playable granted I loved mip streaming when I first played the game but now it just doesn’t work
SSR has nothning to do with textures. It means Screen Space Reflections (AKA poor mans' ray tracing). It has a big impact on performance in every game, from EFT to Cyberpunk.
MIP Steaming just looks horrible. Should be your last resort, only if you can't lower the VRAM footprint by tweaking the settings. Start by turning off SSAO, SSR and grass shadows, none of those are very performance intensive, but if your GPU is straggling anything will help. Beside they'll improve enemies' visibility, so why wouldn't you.

MIP streaming is horrible in tarkov, and so slow, I would rather cache my GPU memory to ram then HDD< that exactly what mip streaming dose, also, TARKOV DOSE NOT USE MORE 8gb at 1440p, The DRAM is simply reserved, not in use, Mips streaming is also in 80% of machines going to cause performance loss as it consumes more CPU and RAM, something your trying to avoid in Takov altogether, This is not a new thing consoles have done this for years, Horizon Zero Down has an amazing system and is why this looked so go on console, UNITY SUCKS at it, and most peoples PCs simply do not have the HDD>>RAM>>>GPU bandwidth to make this work well... I will say, At the moment theres not one boot fits all so if this works for you cool.

Hey! I was hoping you could help me, i tried googling it but to no avail😢
When I start the game, during the first raids I run i get an almost steady 100fps(capped on my monitor), after a few raids my fps drops to around 50-60, no matter what map or location. Anyone know why? Restarting the game bring me back to 100fps.
Im currently running a i9 12900kf, 32 gig of ddr5 ram and a 3080ti at 3440x1440 resolution
Try disabling nvidia reflex low latency, it's giving a lot of fps problems this wipe
turn off nvidia reflex common bug now after around 3 raids it causes massive lag
I have a 3070ti and an i9-12900kf too, and I'm getting horrible performance.
@maxupgames7 is right- Nvidia Reflex can cause this after several raids- could also be memory issue with Standby RAM, but check Reflex first.
@@klemintime1452 Nvidia reflex has been turned off the whole time 🤔 any way to check standby ram issue?
So if I have an I5 10400f and an RX 580 with 24 gigs of 2400mhz ram, should I use MiP streaming?
You're probably running into a CPU bottleneck before a VRAM one, so I would say no but you can still try it and see.
@klemintime1452 so if anything from my computer needs an upgrade, it should be my cpu?
@@iconiccavalier2240 For this game, yeah. Though the RX 580 is aging, you do have things like upscaling to hold the line with for now if you cant spare to get that upgraded.
Great video!
was that thunder at 7.25 lol
Mip streaming works well until my raid ends and then I have a frozen black screen!
Sadly my game just crashes after each raid when using mipstreaming RIP!
Thx for TLDR
Mip streaming makes your game take forever to load after extract . For this reason I have turned it back off. Like everything in tarkov it's bugged
Its putting more load on cpu
The "MIP streaming disk usage limit" is how much of your SSD (or HDD yikes) is reserved for texture streaming. It is indexed and as long as you have an SSD of pretty much any modern speed then it doesn't matter how fast your read/writes are. It will be fast enough for filling textures on the fly.
Yes, it's in MBs.
Edit:
I just did more testing and now I think it's actually the speed the game reads the drive for texture streaming. Why is everything in this game so janky and cryptic? ~_~
As someone with 20 Gigs of Vram this setting does nothing but make my game look worse
I have found mip streaming does not really help at all I play on a 1050ti and mip streaming made the game worst when I turned it off it was actual playable granted I loved mip streaming when I first played the game but now it just doesn’t work
Just to say if you play TEXTURES on HIGH you don't need SSR (working already on LOW) and you gain fps (disable SSR)
Didn’t know that, thanks mate
SSR has nothning to do with textures. It means Screen Space Reflections (AKA poor mans' ray tracing). It has a big impact on performance in every game, from EFT to Cyberpunk.
MIP Steaming just looks horrible. Should be your last resort, only if you can't lower the VRAM footprint by tweaking the settings. Start by turning off SSAO, SSR and grass shadows, none of those are very performance intensive, but if your GPU is straggling anything will help. Beside they'll improve enemies' visibility, so why wouldn't you.
Ok I need your opinion, wether I should use it, or only use physical cores, or automatic RAM cleaner, as I think all sound like they should be on for me but I genuinely don’t know. I have a nvidia RTX 1070, ryzen 7 5800x, 16GB DDR4 ram 3200mhz. Not sure wether I should overclock my CPU either for better performance on tarkov? But my PC sounds like it’s trying to wake off specifically when your waiting for people to get in the raid 😂, if u could help with this it would be amazing as I am not a guru as urself
Oh also I have a very fast M.2 2TB
Buy another 16gb ram it’s so cheap and will make a difference
@@lew_7 I have to sticks of 8 I believe, and honestly not sure if I have space for more, but if I have another 2, should I get the exact same 2 8’s as the ones I have or just another 2 of the same sort
@@JustSpecialOnes yes get the exact same ones so that it’s compatible :)
@@lew_7 is there priority or anything? Or will it just automatically make them all to 3200 and be good, do u know much about my original question? About the tarkov settings and which I should shev on according to my specs?
I'm using i7 11700k with a rtx2070....I would say GPU is my bottleneck tho
@klemintime1452 Hello Buddy, greetings from Brazil, I'm at two days searching for the best solution to play Tarkov on my PC because I've been suffering of BSOD constantly. I tested a lot of configurations but even if I low the settings I cant play because of BSOD erros ;-;
My pc specs: GTX 1650 4GB, 16GB Ram ddr3, SSD, I7 4790k.
there's a possibility to play with those specs? ;-;
Ddr3 is realllllly old im not so sure tarkov will ever run on those specs
they could use a other Engine
Game uses one CPU core, the GPU is never maxed out in this game, one of the CPU cores is always maxed out.
Bruv.... i will give you the best trick for tarkov
Nvidia 3d setting lock your fps to 75 change your screen hertz to 100
And in the menu put max fps in game 65
Thanks me later 👍
will try
They MUST focus on performance instead of new content. This game‘s bugs and performance is getting out of hand
I completely agree
WHY UNITY whyyyyy
Is so sad need to mix all possible optiona to try play, just bad optimization and Unity 2021 is not going on a close date, BSG just kidding with us, hope one day some big company join to give a big kick to bsg to wake up and fix this shit of bugs and bad developer stuff
MIP streaming is horrible in tarkov, and so slow, I would rather cache my GPU memory to ram then HDD< that exactly what mip streaming dose, also, TARKOV DOSE NOT USE MORE 8gb at 1440p, The DRAM is simply reserved, not in use, Mips streaming is also in 80% of machines going to cause performance loss as it consumes more CPU and RAM, something your trying to avoid in Takov altogether,
This is not a new thing consoles have done this for years, Horizon Zero Down has an amazing system and is why this looked so go on console, UNITY SUCKS at it, and most peoples PCs simply do not have the HDD>>RAM>>>GPU bandwidth to make this work well...
I will say,
At the moment theres not one boot fits all so if this works for you cool.
Easy fix here, uninstall the game!
my man, if you have 8gb vram, you onlye needs this for lighthouse and streets, optimized maps only need 6 gigs
I run 1080p with textures set to HIGH mip streaming off using a 6 GB card no problem. No stutters and fps set to 60 on Lighthouse.
