    I know I’m late. But I just discovered these little gems. I think some people are missing the point of these controllers. It’s all about workflow and vibe. Now for those who grew up in the point and click age, no this would not probably work for you. But just like a daw controller, there’s something to be said for having a device in your hands that if only for a few minutes of creativity, detaches you from the computer. I wish more plug-in companies gave this option. It’s also something to be said about minimalism and things just working.

    Best kind of reviews are those where the people reviewing are obviously having a blast!. I was totally oblivious to TC's range of these vst/controller effects, they're just the sort of thing I'd really enjoy using in my set up so it's now highly likely I'll be picking up this Delay and the Reverb and Stereo ones also. I'd love to see some other effects given this controller treatment, perhaps a multi distortion/valve/compression/color plug in of some variety!. Thanks for the video guys.

    Remember when this was released, a local heavy guitarist baught this. Most iconic digital Delay ever, also cost a minor fortune back then.

    Beautiful effect on the Rhodes sound. But what are the red and white levers for? They remind me of the EMT250.

    Hello. If I buy a Tc Electronic TC2290-DT hardware controller, then do I also need to buy a plugin for it, or can it be downloaded for free from the official website?

    Question: what about those red & white levers? Are they just for show or do they serve a purpose?

    Sounds great but as a few have commented was super disappointed when I found it was just a controller for a software .....such a shame it’s not hardware.....

  • @janminor1172

    I don’t think this thing really makes sense from a usability side. The pros of good hardware is immediate accessibility. Those eighties style interface with just buttons and the infamous seven segment LED displays are just *not* the pinnacle of usability. I think we all can agree that knobs and faders are much faster to operate, this is why e.g. all newer synthesizers are using those instead of a tiny display and a number block like a M1 and all the the old romplers of yesterday...
    Easily proven by this video: turning the feedback down on this device requires holding down a button for several seconds. Turning a pot/rotary encoder: maybe one second.
    In this form it only makes sense for people who used to work with the old hardware device and are still fluent on it.
    For everyone else, a stand-alone hardware device (with the option of also controlling the plugin) with a carefully designed new interface with knobs for the most important parameters would make much more sense. That would probably be twice as expensive, of course.
    Sounds great, though!

    • @DarkSideofSynth
      @DarkSideofSynth 5 лет назад

      Yup. I think this was a missed opportunity. Cool effect, no doubt, but it would have been better if this had been a real delay unit AND a controller for the plugin. The numpad is OK, but a few sliders/encoders are more usable. More expensive? Sure but because it would be more bang for the buck: a hardware effect, and a VST with its own controller. If you really think about it though, it's not easy. What form factor would you adopt? Rack? Guitar pedal? This one? You'd probably still leave someone unsatisfied and complaining.

    okee,still to much compression on your voices,again it sounds REALLY unnatural and annoying,and as you call yourself dr mix,the lack of good use of compression makes me wonder how you got that name!? although the topics are really cool and it looks like a lot of fun ,the voices sound so bad they made me un sub,to bad

    • @Doctormix
      @Doctormix  5 лет назад +8

      I don't agree. We use maximum 3-4 dBs compression on the microphones and 1 or 2 on the master bus. I don't mind this sound.. it's clear and you can understand our voices. That's for sure. Are these mics a bit harsh? Yes but they are great at rejecting what comes from the studio monitors. This is part of the reason why our music is so clear. Could we use an SM7 instead? Yes, but it would cover our faces and it would be annoying to move around. Compromises compromises. There is no such a thing as a life without them. IMHO. P.S. maybe you just don't like our voices!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

    • @leon_mnl
      @leon_mnl 5 лет назад

      Doctor Mix 3-4db compression?!?? thats taking half your voice away!! way to much one a voice ,the mic placement is also a big issue ,try putting it a bit further from your mouth so it doesn’t clip when you breathe directly into the mic,that way you can use less compression also,as for the monitor bleed ,that should not be a (big) problem because these mics are build for close range pickup and because of the small membrane they will not pick up (as much,depending on the face/speaker distance) surrounding sounds ,again,i love these topics and like the fun you are having and i don’t mind your voice at all 😉👍🏻
      ps. topics are to cool and the videos are fun to wach,so i couldn’t find myself to un sub...😬🙈
