I love how you could see their personalities shine through their work process and the way they look at each other. Certainly helps me find my own preferences with clay.
I'm totally floored, beautiful work from both artists. I'm particularly impressed with the dude convincingly sculpting transparency in the glasses. Hats off to remarkable talent.
At first I was like: "Why do they keep looking at each other, it looks like they are trying to brag to one another". Then as the video progressed I understood. Pretty cool that they both do a sculpture of one another!
Admirable demonstration of sculptors quality. Both of these gentlemen deserve a first prize. Thank you for showing us this amazing and inspiring form of art. Thank you all.
Sri Lanka is such a small country geographically but with immense talent and contribution whether it's cricket, food, tourism or its lovely people..... Love from India
It would be awesome if Jim Carrey was a sculptor who partakes in such competitions, constantly making grimaces, fucking up anyone's chance to ever make a decent sculpture of his head.
That's so sad, because other than that he's a really smart guy. I guess the power of the vag clouded his judgement. Jenny McCarthy is damned hot, but also damned stupid.
We have to be proud to have a world class great sculpture like Prof. Sarath Chandrajeewa who successfully competed with a Chinese Professor. Look at the works done. Congratulations !!!
I like seeing the differences in technique between both sculptors, e.g. the Sri Lankan sculptor likes to carve large chunks of clay in large strokes and the Chinese sculptor likes use small pieces of clay to add detail.
GuyWithAnAmazingHat no. it's just that they didn't focus on the Chinese sculpture as much and only focused on him when he was putting the small details.
Louis Goodsir as I said, they didn't focus on the Chinese guy as much. His observation was that the Sri Lankan was using bigger strokes whereas the Chinese guy was adding smaller chunks which is untrue. You can see the Chinese guy using the same technique of large strokes in the background at the beginning when the camera was focused on the Sri Lankan. Later when they focused on the Chinese guy, he was filling the details and so adding chunks. When the camera then switched to the Sri Lankan, you can see he was also adding chunks. So they both used large chunks at the beginning and then switched to adding for the details.
I could be seen like this: The Chinese sculptor did use long thumb strokes at the start, but he also added many small pieces for general shape. They almost did the inverse of each other as the Sri Lankan used big strokes in the beginning and used a tool to add detail at the end. Where as the Chinese used small pieces in the beginning and used tools to smooth out the piece in the end. But in order to get the final product they must both use both skills.
it would be very boring watching a 3d printer making the "perfect" head...But this is alive..human creation with his emotion imperfections.in a world that force us following "algorythms" ,art is going to be our last expression castle.beautiful!!
Well, while I do think the sculpture by prof Chandrajeewa looked better it's also important to notice that they both have different styles. On top of that, prof cao chang xu has a lot of very prominent features on his face especially when it comes to his hair and beard - while the other prof is literally just a bald guy with glasses. So he kinda had the advantage there imo. That said, I think prof cao chang xu still managed to make a very similar looking sculpture of the guy.
that's actually so cool, you can see the development of their 2 styles. one builds up on a small clay base while the other carves out the face from a large pile
Dude, this is honestly a better concept than half of the shows they do nowadays so I wouldn't be surprised if they make a show like this because someone sees this comment.
When the officer said "he", he is implying it was a male who performed the crime. When the man said "his" he is confirming it was indeed a man who performed the crime.
Cars Uncovered made for a more interesting watch than talentless nincompoops rambling about their boring daily lives and achieving millions of subs and getting rich..
They both did a great job, but I think the guy with the glasses had a better technique while creating the sculpture. *Now for the question: Why in the hell is this trending?*
Awesome human beings......professors of art leading by example.it took me time, to figure out they were sculpturing each other(the awkward glances) ..i first thought there was a timer and they were competing.perfect.brilliant.
at first i thought they were competing to see who made the best sculpture and i thought the one with the beard was trying to copy the other dude but then i realized they kept looking at eachither because they were sculpting eachother 😂

Approximation is quite rare among artists. These guys are really amazing!

I haven't kept up, what's Jim Carrey doing that we should be mad about?
Tiki Omzee anti-vax shit last time he was in the news
***** ahhh my god, why is this still a thing.
That's so sad, because other than that he's a really smart guy. I guess the power of the vag clouded his judgement. Jenny McCarthy is damned hot, but also damned stupid.

what do you mean no? it's clear they have different sculpting styles..

Different styles? I only saw each one putting clay on. Nothing different to me. Both were adding details at some point.

At least that has something to do with culture and art.

Wow wonderful I have never seen before such type of art .I have no words to say 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Probably the two most reliable eye witnesses on Earth. "Sir, do you remember what he looks like" "Do I? I've already sculpted his face."
could be her!

Incredible! The moment when I realised they were sculpting each other I was floored.

Sarath Chandrajeewa's work was pretty great, but those glasses just magically appeared on that statue and I was simply blown away.
I was pretty impressed the one guy was able to create the impression of glasses with clay

Incredibly awesome. These two men make it look so easy. Really incredible work, both of them.
They both did a great job, but I think the guy with the glasses had a better technique while creating the sculpture.
*Now for the question: Why in the hell is this trending?*
Macario Patrick because why the fuck not, right?
It was decently big on reddit. That can answer your question most of the time.
Macario Patrick funny how it was made two years ago, and NOW it's hit big.
Aradia Megido Reddit found it and gave it a big influx of views

Why is a video published in November 2014 trending in December 2016?
fnchrstphr a lot of old videos are in trending for some reason
0mn0m8w31rdc4ndy There may have been a link on Reddit.
I asked that too..I will never understand what the youtube world is doing...never understand
because things from the past still exist in the future and sometimes they go unnoticed.
That was awesome, I love this idea. Great sculptors as well and they both have perfect faces to use as subjects.
Am I the only who was super bothered the fact that the bald statue wasn't smoothed out
true
Nick R that's just his style...
He did it, to upset the opponent! (in my view)
I prefer it that way. Looks kind of abstract. The only thing i dislike are the glasses
I agree he should have smoothed it out more. And made the glasses more predominant and sticking out more from the side of head and around the eyes.
Impressionnant la rapidité et le réalisme final.
Bravo à ces 2 artistes !
People shit on Reddit but Reddit is the only thing pushing great videos to the for front on RUclips these days.
Matteyo how does that work do u kno?
I like that Prof Sarath's sculp close it eyes at the begining. and then open them at the end.
