    So cool. Been into DAL a bunch in the 172, never DFW. Need to find an excuse. I'm here for the RV8. I want one 😂

      Aviation101 thanks! The -8 is definitely my favorite GA airplane.

    Nicely done. I'm glad "my" airplane is in capable hands. I built it. :)

      @@KSRRider It was thirty months of very dedicated work to get flying (from standard, non-quickbuild kits) then off to Corona California for paint (the original teal, black and gold). First flight was Dec '99. It was also the first customer built RV8 to fly in the state of New Mexico. It was based at AEG (Double Eagle II Airport) west side of Albuquerque for several years, then moved to my airpark home at E98 where I live today. I sold it to a feed lot manager in Kansas and bought a '57 C-180 as we had a child then and needed the seats! Traded that for an Evektor Sportstar SLSA which I have now. I miss the RV speed and agility for sure. Did a lot of formation flying with it. The Dynon D-10 was the state of the art glass gadget for that time, and I put it in after I killed the attitude gyro from too many loops! Your panel today was not even a distant dream for experimentals when I was building. My how technology has advanced.

      @@briand4000 thank you for the info! That is very neat. We are C180 fans as well. Dad and I are both are ag pilots/corporate pilots and have had several 188s, air tractors, thrush, etc. My grandfather still flys his 180 today at 85 years old. If you are passing through northeast KS stop in to K59. The Garmin panel is amazing. I flew 3 older jet types that had way less capability than the Garmin G3X! It is a rock solid IFR platform. Occasionally we do file and fly IFR with it.

    That was so smooth out there! The last comment from the ATC didn't come as a surprise to me to be honest after seeing your interaction with them.

      Kanad Kalasur thank you sir! I feel very fortunate that I’ve been able to make a career out of something that I really enjoy. 😎

    when I go into busy air space I let them know right up front I don't do this for a living... they usually slow down their transmissions after that :)

      thanks for the tip. for the rest of us who fly once a week instead of flying everyday, it's tough to follow rapid fire instructions.

    Finishing my RV-8 now with a similar panel. I'll have the G3X and the G5. Wondering why the additional airspeed and ADI?

    At Le Tourneau University we were required, during commercial training, to go into DFW. I think it cost 30-something bucks in mid 90s. I'm considering an aircraft purchase & the RV-8 is one option. Weirdly, another choice is an old, straight-tail, project 172 to convert to taildragger & 180 HP & restore it. I'm an A&P, specialize in structures/sheet-metal & would love to do this myself. Are you based at DFW? May I ask, just curious, what the landing fee is?

    Is that a rudder trim on the left above the throttle or your prop control?

    • @KSRRider
      @KSRRider  2 года назад

      It is elevator trim.

    Why on Earth would you want to fly a small GA plane out of DFW? There are dozens of more convenient class D and G airports all around DFW.

    • @KSRRider
      @KSRRider  2 года назад +1

      Because I’m a professional pilot and I was picking up another professional pilot who was finishing a rotation at work flying a business jet that was staged there. There was a legitimate purpose. FYI not based there and I’m very familiar with all the DFW metro airports having flown business jets to the majority of them.

    are you always full rich when taxiing?

    • @KSRRider
      @KSRRider  3 года назад +4

      Sure do. A properly tuned O360 shouldn’t need to be leaned for taxi.
