just saw this today very good build. would have been a nice feature to actually see the stripes being put down. great job and solid construction. thank you!
By far the best DIY (though probably out of my ability level atm) striping kit video, and I've seen a bunch. Most detailed. And addresses my biggest nitpick with what I've seen in the other videos with the end caps. This is nearly perfect for my mower. Now, if I can only build it...
An extremely well designed do'-it-yourself project creative use of materials at hand, and very skillfully presented in your video. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve watched countless videos on DIY striper kits and this is honestly the best and most comprehensive one. Just to clarify, the photos at the end are of stripes layed by the second striper with the overlay end caps, right?
Very nice! I like your build and your new ideas off of your prototype! Thanks for making and sharing! Good luck and post more cool stuff! Your lawn looks great!
I love the video! I like the twist of the broom, and the science behind it sounds sound, direction the grass the way you want before you “smash” it down. Smart in my opinion!
Thanks to your video I was able to build a lawn roller of my own. Mine isn't mounted to the mower in the same fashion as I did not have the right pieces to build it trailer hitch style though. I just went with two pieces of flat iron to hang it from the back of the mower off of the handle. The roller itself is just the same as yours with the 3 inch PVC cut at 24 inches, filled with sand and capped off with the temp caps. I may eventually upgrade the connection part but for the moment mine seems to work decently well. Thanks for your video. It was very helpful. A couple of questions though. What kind of grass does your lawn have and at what cutting height is your mower set at to give you the best striping look? My yard is Zoysia and I am not sure if that is supposed to be one of the better ones for the striping effect or if it is just middle of the road. Today I cut it at 2.5 inches and it looks ok but I think if I cut it a little higher at 3.0 or even 3.5 inches the effect might turn out even better. Again, thanks for your how-to tip.
Best video I've seen so far on building a stripper kit. Good job. I'm going be building one soon and it'll be very similar to that one. Thanks for the inspiration! 😃
Great job, and ingenious! But I would like to know the brand of your shoes and where you got them. They seem to be perfect for lawn work! Thank you Sir.
One of the better fit lawn stripe rollers I've seen. Very well explained. I was going to ask about the broom head, but you answered my question in the last part. Thanks, JohnG
By far the coolest diy striper I have seen. I’m thinking about trying my hand at one and I’m going to use yours as a template. Thanks for the detailed instructions.
Nice job, I subscribed because I like the striper kit build AND the level of detail provided (most don't want to take that kind of time). Plus you probably do the same in other videos.
Hey, I am impressed about the great project. Thank you so much for sharing this with subscribers. I just subscribed! Keep up these great videos coming !
Just a thought... If I decide to try and go with this design, Which I think is excellent, I might take some snippers and cut out about 50% of the bristles out of the broom if I use it. Don't even have to go all the way see the bass, just about halfway. That might maximize the combing effect of the grass.
Great video!! This looks like the best DIY striper kit I have seen. Did you make the width of the roller the same width as the wheels or the width of the cutting deck? Thanks
Good Effort - (HUGE BUT). All These Roller Mods have ONE HUGE FLAW! Not Only are you going to Use More Fuel Especially on a Large Lawn LARGE Meaning 600-800Sq+, Due to Extra Weight and A lot more Drag , A Self Propelled Mower is Designed to have enough Propulsion & Power to Propel the Weight of the Mower with a Grass Catcher at Max NOT an Extra 18-20Pounds of Drag. Major Point Also is The Only Good Rear Roller Allows the Catcher to Removed and Put on Without Removing the Rear Roller. Otherwise Your Mowing the Lawn x2 or More To Pick Up the Clippings Because 80-90% of People Don't Mow there Lawns Every Weekend. And That's Way to Much time for someone to be Mowing a Backyard Lawn, Also Barely Anyone has a Side shoot Mower and No One Really Wants Loose Grass all over their Lawn Without a Catcher. Nice Concept But in My Mind the Best Invention Would Allow ....2 Major Things? 1. Bearing Attached to the Front Connection Tube Head (Larger Pipe Attached to Broom were it Connects to the Back of the Mower with a Flat Mount Bearing, Removing the Slop and Play making Turns Way Smoother and Even Rolling & 2. It has to Allow for the Catcher to Be Left on and Removed so You Only have to Mow the Lawn Once and Maybe a Second time for a Low Cut Line At Max. Otherwise it's Not the Best Concept and Very Time Consuming Mowing Some Grass for Looks.
Please forgive my naive but I think i'm missing something ...what does this do ? & why use it ..can you not see the different heights of lawn that you just mowed ?
@Mat Tuk. It's pushes grass down depending on what direction you go so you can make stripes or patterns on your lawn to make it pop. That's how baseball fields look so good.
Followed your build and it worked out perfect. I dropped the broom down further and it made a difference. Thank you for sharing this video
just saw this today very good build. would have been a nice feature to actually see the stripes being put down. great job and solid construction. thank you!
Seeing this in 2021. Cool striper build. Looks to be the best option for my mower/lawn. Saving this vid for reference as I do my own build. Thanks!!!
Hey man! You get the cool-neighbor-garage-engineer award. This is great and thanks for sharing.
Best diy striper video ive seen! And clear and understanding detailed video

Great video. Very clear and to the point nothing left out every little detail included.
Thanks. Guys like me need guys like you. 👍😎
I modified this striper to work with my ZTR. What a great concept! Thank you tjm f100! I used a 4" tube and it weighs 30 lbs.
Pete Martin Greetings Pete, gotta a question 4 u. Please
@@brucejones1788 I can't see your question. Please try again.
Pete Martin GREAT JOB SIR. I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER ONE TODAY. HOW MUCH ?, AND WHERE TO SEND THE MONEY TO?
@@brucejones1788 I no longer use tjm's method for stripping. I simply attach a heavy door mat to the back of my ztm.
Pete Martin R u kidding me ?

Best diy striper I've seen so far. Awesome job.
4th DIY striper video I have watched and yours is definitely the best. Well done.

Wow awesome looking yard stripes. I wish my southern grass was that green,
Lawn looks great
One of the best videos on strippers I have seen
Very nice! I like your build and your new ideas off of your prototype!
Thanks for making and sharing!
Good luck and post more cool stuff! Your lawn looks great!
Damn son you cut that big lawn with a pushmower, that is dedication. Your DYI produced a very nice result, lawn is beautiful.
Don't worry, I upgraded to a 30" Toro Timemaster, so it's not too bad!
I love the video! I like the twist of the broom, and the science behind it sounds sound, direction the grass the way you want before you “smash” it down. Smart in my opinion!
Great video and instructions I should be able to make one of my own, thanks.

Saw the assembly and was sold! beautiful!

Let me know how it goes!
pressure testing caps work a lot better for end caps. Try them and see.

Best build I have seen!
What did you use to keep the sand packed down that tight that is wont spill out when turned on its side?
thanks for the detailed vid on this.. I'm going to make one for my lawn
Thank you so much for you time but I can't do so many work!

This is awesome. Going to do this for sure
And you sound like Nicholas Cage
Looks good
Best diy video I've seen yet.
Nice build! You should try to mount the broom on the front and roller on the back. That is how the fancy commercial units work
Never seen mowers adorned with gun stickers 🤣
Nice job
Man, I wish I can send you pics and videos of the one I made using this video. Turned out real good.

The brush seems like it will keep debris from sticking to and clumping up on the roller, if nothing else. Very nice concept.
this is the best one i have seen!
Great idea
Awesome video, great build. Do you find the striper messes with your stride as your cutting?
Nope. I measured it out so that I wouldn’t kick it or step on it when mowing.
Good job 👍
Thanx! Well Done
Totally awesome! Only thing better is if you would build me one!
nice lawn
Pretty good man.
Great video!! This looks like the best DIY striper kit I have seen. Did you make the width of the roller the same width as the wheels or the width of the cutting deck? Thanks
Sam I went with the outside width of the wheels.
EXCELLENT JOB! I am a Mechanical Engineer and I don't see anything I would for the money.

A GM man I’m proud
Ever try without the brush? What were the results?
how about just weighting down the old push broom part somehow? you think that would work?
The problem there would probably be backing up. In mine the push broom actually rides about 1/2” off the ground so it doesn’t catch when backing up.
@@tjmf101 i made one for this summer. i can send a pic if youd like.shoot me your email
Why wouldn't you use two extra fender washers on both sides of the end caps to provide a firmer end for your washers to tighten up too?
A gun manufacturer sticker on a push mower?
Does it make it any harder to push the mower?
Not at all. with this design, you just have to pay attention when backing up.
Brilliant!
Please forgive my naive but I think i'm missing something ...what does this do ? & why use it ..can you not see the different heights of lawn that you just mowed ?

Very well done striper and video. Thanks
Love da music
You did good kid
I am definitely copying this!!
Gotta try doing mine, thanks. New sub!
Awesome very cool tx u
I like the video! I like the idea! How important is the sun's location in viewing the stripes?
Jim Lutz stripes will always show better if the direction and angle are straight behind you.
Great example
Maybe a quarter inch.. But fantastic job! I think I'll be making this
CONGRATULATIONS
love the hk sticker.....
Same
Would you build one I will buy it thanx steve
GREAT THANKS
Are those Toilet Paper Roles??!! What’s your address??
so how does it work with the grass catcher on the mower
Works just fine. The catcher on my Toro rides about 2” over the top.
use a paint tin top 4 your ends
Awesome!
Thought HK just made firearms...
What the heck is this for
for what?
Are you a doctor?
Can I strip my ass
I read this as “lawn stripper”. Awkward....
Nice job
