OMG! My TV is ancient (20+ years old) and just turned off this afternoon and when I tried switching on the light flashed a few times but no response. I went through your steps and now it's working. Brilliant! I will keep it for another 20 years if it will keep going.
My LG TV works fine for about 20 minutes then shuts off and has a red blinking light. You can turn it back on but it will only stay on for a few seconds then shuts down again and has a red blinking light. Any suggestions other than what you have already said?
I have exactly the same problem with my LG, sometimes it will come on for a few seconds but now it just shuts straight off after the LG logo appears with the red slow blinking light. It has gone through phases of doing this over the last 3 years. Sometimes it is a persistent problem. Sometimes if I leave it unplugged for a few days then plug it back in it will just randomly start working as normal again for a few months with no problems at all. I thought maybe it could be overheating or change in humidity or something like that affecting the power board or PCB. Could just be years of dust built up on the board inside. In the long term I would suggest just buying a new TV, which is exactly what I have just had to do. Even if you manage to get your LG to start working again despite the power issue, it will only be a matter of time before the same issue will happen again. If it's new and still under warranty, get it replaced. Otherwise buy yourself a new one and save yourself the misery in the future. Take it from someone who's been there and got the t-shirt.
I need help. Brought my tv and not even a week old and it comes on. Show WebOS and then lines pop up at the bottom and shut off with the red light blinking
I'm having a different problem. My tv's power light blinks red 3 times before I turn it on now. It all seems to be fine and working but Idk why the light blinks 3 times when turning it on. It was fine until last night when I swapped my Nintendo and Cable box's HDMI to different HDMI ports. Also, whenever I would turn the tv on, it would start out on the screen that lets you choose which input you want to use. I liked it that way but now it automatically just connects to the HDMI input the cable is on. I spent all last night and today trying to get it set like it was but to no avail. I even swapped the inputs of the 2 devices I have back like they were and it still blinks 3 times when turning it on and won't start out with the input selection screen/home screen. Any help would be great. I just got this tv not quite a year ago and it's the 78" LG C2 OLED version.
@@techtests thanks for that. I already did those things and it still blinks 3 times when turning on and doesn't automatically go to home screen and let me choose which input I want to use like it used to before. But It's ok i guess. The tv still works. I just wish I could make the light stop blinking as well as get it back to automatically displaying the input screen when i turn it on. Again, thanks for the help.
My LG TV works fine then after 15 minutes it shuts off and has a red blinking light. I can then turn it back on but then it only works for about 10 seconds and shuts off again. I've tried everything on this video to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you. Wait 30 minutes? Wow. It is a TV without Internet connection. I used Chromecast to the HDMI port. The Chromecast internet connection was stopped, so I wonder what kind of TV software update it can do, such an LG TV, while connected via Chromecast. But I feel good reading the systematic list of possible causes here. I will find a solution. Maybe in the end I will buy another TV, but for now I like it so much for its color rendering, and I don't want to change.
For completeness it's a good idea to wait 30 minutes, but you don't have to if you're in a rush. If your TV doesn't have a native Internet connection, then it can only be updated via USB.
@@techtests OK -- The most important take from this video is that probably there is a software problem. I will return later and tell what happens now when I try again without any cables except power.
Perhaps he was assuming people would use their brain/common sense to hold the power button, wherever it is located, when following his instructions. It completely works btw, with holding the power button under the tv, as I can attest to. 1st suggested fix solved my issue completely!
My old LG blinks, don’t work anymore. I will buy an OLED TV this year, but will not be LG for sure. And I will make sure all my friends don’t make this mistake.
@techtests hi thanks I tried all these basic test I get with no changes , my tv slowing would get dark and then start working and repeating, now when I turn on it shows the lg sign perfectly! But when it comes on its real dark and I can see the input and channel thing with a flashlight , and the red light keeps blinking FYI, what part would replacement would just fix this ? I'm over the temp troubleshooting so would it be power supply motherboard or I forget the other one. I the TCL or other one I mentioned was replaced recently , so has to be motherboard or power supply. What would u think to replace. Have a feeling it's power supply wise or back light , but gets power so idk what to do sir , please help , what part u think I should replace or just scrap it and take a huge lost very frustrating
Thank you so much! I was afraid my Tv was on the fritz and would have to be replaced! Your knowledgeable video saved me from throwing it out and wasting $600 + on another. 👍🏻💯

So how do I change the CEC settings when I only have the red light blinking and the tv does not turn on?
Disconnect the HDMI cables, and then try to power it on. If it powers on, disable it after that.
@@MrShebaw and if it still doesn't?

Good to know
I have a LG 43" LED TV. When I connect it to my PC with an HDMI cable, I cannot see the full screen.

Could be HDMI-CEC or quick start. Try:
- Go to Settings -> General -> Simplink and turn this off.
- In the General menu, turn off Quickstart+.
Did it fix ?

Figure it out
This was useless. If the TV is not coming on how are you supposed to check the settings? Smh
Sorry it didn't help. There are a wide range of problems associated with the red light blinking though, and some are able to access the settings.
My LG TV is working fine ,thank you

This guy is not realizing some lg models only have an on off button under the LG logo.

Probably very wise.
Most of this is rubbish! The TV is not working if the red light blinking, so how are you supposed to do most of this stuff!
Thank you . The tv won’t even turn on
I ordered a new power board same issues . I ordered another main board. Waiting on it
thank god for you
