Ancient Stone Tablets is SOOOO good. If you haven't played it, it will literally not take you longer than 4 hours, because it is timed and it can't. The team who made this happen was extremely dedicated. They had a partial dump of data, but it didn't include any of the dungeon layouts. They recreated all of the dungeons by watching a VHS recording that some Japanese kid had made way back in the day.

I ask my mom to get me snes for Christmas. It was a long shot since I had 5 other siblings and money was tight. All year I kept asking and Christmas came and no snes that morning. Later on that day behind the tree , my mom pointed and there sat the snes with Zelda a link to the past. I played that game for 4 months straight and beat it on my own. Could never beat the nes version and I beat this one all on my own at age 10. Zelda a link to the past is one of my hands down favorite game. Thanks mom.

The Stone Tablet episodes were in fact not recoverable from memory packs, since only parts of the games were stored on them that didn’t work on their own, the rest of the data stream went to the RAM and would be gone after powering off the console. The available ROMhacks are recreations from video recordings. Very good & faithful ones though!

I know what it stands for, but I still like calling it "BS" with that intonation. Then again, I also laugh when I hear commercials for "TBS" and can't help the association. It's just a bad choice of acronym if you want people to take you seriously and not laugh about "BS" meaning what we all know it means.

    • @cabbusses
      @cabbusses 2 года назад +1

Unfortunately, the most probable way Sekiban would get re-released is in some manner of reinterpretation, since there's almost certainly some issues with replicating the broadcast (we don't know if Nintendo has the master files. There may be contract disputes with either the seiyuu or the record studios that produced the arranged music. The time system was tailor-made for the Satellaview's context and seems weird in modern games.)
I admit the idea of a remake that looks like Link's Awakening 3D sounds appealing to me, but it'd probably lose some of the charm much like the BS Fire Emblem maps being recreated in DS's Shin Monshou no Nazo.

BS Zelda was literally an early warning that Online Games are gone forever once the servers are closed down.

I once tried assembling an undumped list for the Satellaview.
Unfortunately, it became overwhelming because of the sheer quantity of distinct broadcasts.
Further compounding this issue is that some programs, like Satella-Q, were never locally stored, making preservation of them impossible without a Gigaleak-tier miracle.

Third Quest is such a great game! Everything you love about the original, with that crisp 16bit aesthetic.

Interestingly enough, A Link Between Worlds is Triforce of Gods 2, ALTTP being Triforce of Gods. But this still looks fun with the new stuff and cutscenes. Weird Zelda gameplay, but still looks fun.

There was also a BS version of the first Zelda which was really really good and is also available as a ROM. But this SNES one was new to me.

I still got my SNES and I got link to the past, Ancient Stone Tablets, Parallel Worlds & Goddess of Wisdom on cardridge....
Link to the past for me is the best Zelda game.
    A 3D-remake would be a great thing

I like the fact that Ancient Stone Tablets mentions how Link isn't in Hyrule -- which makes sense as he'd be doing the Oracle Duology and Link's Awakening during that time, as all three games were made to be direct sequels to LttP featuring the same Link. Despite its name, LBW features a different reincarnation of Link and Zelda and takes place several generations later, as many LoZ games feature different reincarnations of them.

I have to wonder if the time based events in this game were a test and inspiration for the time based events of Majora's Mask.

Meh, Link's Awakening on the Gameboy was literally the sequel to Zelda 3 on the SNES.

It makes sense that they were working on another SNES Zelda game. Since LTTP came out in NA in 1992. They were still Making SNES games until 1996-97. PLUS
Ocarina of Time wasn't out until 1998. So it'd make sense that in terms of development plans. There was gonna be/supposed to be another Zelda game on the SNES

Of course as i was typing the above comment i forgot about the OG Link's Awakening which did come out a year after LTTP. So in terms of development.
There WAS another Zelda game. Made between LTTP & OOT. I keep forgetting about Link's Awakening because i was never really a fan of that game until a
few years ago when the switch remake came out. Did play the DX version but didn't really like it either. Just a colorized OG??? LOL
