I would like to get ahold of Mrs. Crosby.... My grandmother did the alterations on her wedding dress in Houston at Neiman Marcus bridal department. I wanted to see if she had any pictures of her during her fittings by chance.
My only qualm with her is her insistence on keeping the public persona of the Widow Crosby. She had a long relationship and remarried. She was with him when he died in a horrific car accident.
It was well known Kathryn had a long relationship with Educator/Entrepreneur Maurice W. Sullivan she married him in 2000 and was with him in the tragic auto accident that took his life and left her seriously injured in 2010. But she would never publicly acknowledge it Arlene was trying to dig into it and Kathryn didn't talk about that part of her life with anyone.
Strangely enough Bing actually died when he accidentally fell into the orchestra pit when doing an ANTAN charity at Pomona College in Pomona, California. I was there on the night having been an ANTAN and having compiled the ANTAN programme for its then annual honoree Helen Hayes. Crosby stepped back and fell 10 feet or more. He survived the fall but it no doubt played havoc with his heart. He died several years later. I can still remember how hideous it all was. There was a big reception planned for after but the fall put a pall on it all. It affected not only the post-party but our memory of the concert itself.
