Imam Abu Hanifah r.a said that the niqab is recommended during times of great trial. The niqab is not allowed during umrah and hajj since these are acts of worship and no fitna/fasad (mischief) should be tolerated. The niqab is without a doubt taken to increase taqwa (god fearing) and to dispel doubtfulness.
@adolft_officialAnd if you claim to be so pious or righteous (meaning, if you consider yourself a pious person like no others in your view), then why are you commenting on a non-mahram woman? Are the boundaries (of modesty and respect) only for women, with no accountability for men? Do they get to do as they please wherever they want? Or are you like those Jewish scholars who used to make exceptions in the religion only for themselves?
About the headscarf and clothes, also the traditional clothes in Spain included headscarf and modest clothing until not long ago ma sha Allah... Still 25 years ago you could see elderly women in the villages wearing black traditional modest clothes and a headscarf and still today traditional dresses in Galicia, Vasque Country, and so on when there are festivities people wear it to preserve their culture :) It so beautiful to see.

Sheikh can you please clarify if this is ok. If i wear light make in full hijab that is ok even if non mahrem men see it? By light make i mean putting on concealer, tinted moisturizer which is not heavy like foundation, lip balm with tint matching my lip colour and mascara? Is this considered light makeup. What i have started doing is when i put glam make-up on before i leave my house i wear a nikab only showing a bit of my eye. As i enter the segregated function i remove my nikab. Im a bit confused by light makeup as many people say makeup in front of non mahrem men is haram? But from what i understood from your lecture light make-up is ok. Please clarify. Jzk in advance.
Jazaakumullaahu khairan brother very good info. About men's trousers at/below ankle, isn't there hadiths where it says the portion covering at/below the ankle will b in hellfire etc..think there r other hadiths as well..
Waiyyakum. Yes, there are a few. Combining all the Hadiths together, show that all of them refer to the practice and intention of ‘pride’ and ‘superiority’, even though there are separate Hadiths. Some scholars still maintain not to do it and maintain that it is still forbidden either way, but others clarify that the علة (problem for why it was forbidden) no longer exists, which is that it was the sign and characteristic of elitists and supremacy or showing off. A large group of scholars maintain that all the Hadiths in this area are based on pride as the reason. We see this with Abu Bakr raa whose izaar used to drop due to his thinness, the prophet pbuh said to him ‘you are not one of them’, meaning those who do it out if pride. Allah knows best.
Jzkh for not letting this question slide. we know your time is valuable & you can't answer every question thrown in the comments.. so thank you for answering this one for the brother & not just benefiting the questioner. Most balanced & logical clarification on the topic. Again Jzkh.

Thank you sheikh for these reminders. Can I clarify the following: So my uncle (mom’s brother) is fine for me to remove my hijab to but what about my aunt’s (mom’s sister) husband, who is also my uncle? So when u said our parents siblings are mahram, I would assume it does not include their siblings-in-law? Secondly, our husband’s parents and grandparents are mahram but this does not include his uncles and aunts right?
WaSalam, That is correct. Your aunt’s husband is not your mahram, and he is not your real uncle. It’s just cultural respect to call him uncle. And your husband’s uncles are not your mahram either.
Thank you, can you cite any hadit where its specifically states for women to cover the hair. I really want to wear hijab and continue after ramadan but I'm just not convinced fully
Assalamualaikum Ustad, if mahram concept applied same to our non-muslim family is that mean the same as it goes for hijab requirement?. Meaning no hijab restriction as well although they are "kafir" especially in the range of immediate family?

As-Salaamu Alaikum please let me know I keep my socks on all day as I am out and about if I have to make Wudu I wipe over my cotton socks do I have to take them off or is it safe to wipe over them I can’t wear thick socks ? Plus we don’t have leather socks any more !
Sheikh I have a question so my aunt had breastfeed my brother when he was a kid u said their siblings become ur siblings and ur siblings become their siblings ( i hope I got it right) so is my male cousins maharam to me ? Can I take off my hijab when they are around ?
WaSalam. To be in the safe side, ask her if it was at least 4-5 separate breastfeeding she gave him (on 4-5 different occasions). Secondly, NO, he does NOT become mahram to you. He becomes mahram to your aunt’s children only. The only way he becomes mahram to you and your siblings if you your mother breastfed him.
@@belal.assaadAssalamualaykum Sheikh. I think you meant to say that the questioner's brother is mahram to all their aunt's children (their cousins). But the questioner is NOT mahram to those same cousins, as she was not breastfed by that aunt. Btw there were two children who were breastfed by my mom when their parents passed away. So their children are all mahram to me, correct? To be honest I had never thought about this part of the mahram equation.
@@SheriDin WaSalam. Yes, thank you for correcting me. I meant, the questioner’s brother only becomes mahram to all of his aunt’s children. They all become his foster-siblings. The questioner does not become mahram to the aunt’s children. However, if your mother breastfed those 2 babies, then those 2 babies now become your siblings including all of your siblings as well.
@@belal.assaadthank you for responding Sheikh. Alhamdulillah. So now I have more nephews & nieces who are my mahram by virtue of those ladies that my mother breast fed. I just finished listening to your lecture. Very enlightening indeed. May Allah increase you in beneficial knowledge. Aameen. I hv a request if you can create a "short" video on the topic of "hugging/ kissing cousins". It happens a lot around us. Because in our culture we grow up so close to one other (just like siblings) we forget that when we are no longer children, we need to cover in front of our cousins, let alone hug or kiss them on the cheek. It is a real problem. Short videos are easy to fwd. And the very people who need to know these things don't watch long videos. 😅 Another good topic for a short video is about wiping socks. When I attend events, come prayer time, I see women doing gymnastics in the toilet, bringing their feet into the wash basins at least over a meter high. Then they do a balancing act & struggle to put on their socks on their WET foot, one after another. I just wipe over my socks and sometimes get dirty glances. These are very relevant topics for day to day comfort. I believe women who don't do their prayers when they are outside, actually hv issues with the performance of wudhu & they rather miss their prayers. Btw I was visiting Turkey during winter some years ago & I could not take off my winter jacket because it was too cold. I couldn't push up the sleeves as it was too tight. And I had several layers on inside. So I washed my arm maybe up to 6" above my wrist and afterwards I wiped over the jacket that was covering my arm all the way to my elbow. And I prayed that Allah accepted my wudhu. Those were difficult days, travelling during winter. Water was cold as ice. Alhamdulillah for the ability to wipe over socks.
@@belal.assaadASA can you please provide me with more information and credible hadiths regarding hijab. I'm just not convinced yet because I haven't come upon anything where it specifically stated or camanded "cover your hair." Surely Allah would be very clear regarding this had it been so important ruling. Please help
Jazaka Allah Sheikh. There’s some I couldn’t understand well. Towards the end of the video 58:02 someone asked if a man Shaking Hands with non mahram woman breaks Wudu, the answer was”No”. I think the question is wrong, how can a man shake hands with non-mahram women?! It’s already haram. Please someone give me some clarification. I enjoy listening to Dr Bill’s lecture. May Allah Reward him.
It is haram because shaking hands is not a necessity. What does the action signify? Respect. And respect between a man and woman is different from between a man and a man, and a woman and a woman. Respecting a non-mahram is avoiding touching them or looking at them. Especially touching them, where as looking may have some purpose (you may have to look to recognize the face of a colleague because of modern times, or perhaps a family member, but it doesn't need to linger and it may be purer not to). Families would also be larger back then, so if you need to talk to the opposite gender you can ask one of your sisters, or one of your brothers to deal with their gender. Yes this action of shaking hands is sinful, but it does not break wudu. I agree Sheik Belal probably should have addressed the question, but we need time to process information sometimes. If he brought up the compromises we make daily as a society, people could be distracted from what they learned today. I think he should have addressed it anyway and left it to Allah (not based on hadiths but what I think I should do), but Allah knows best. Rulings should be taught with wisdom, and too much change can prevent any change. Aisha (RA) stated if the Qu'ran was revealed with all the prohibitions of alcohol and stuff, that society would not have accepted Islam. But rather Allah gave revelation to them over time. So it can be equally valid to withhold certain controversies until there is proper time to address it. Imagine telling someone just learning about Islam after not praying for years, that they need to change their behavior in every societal matter. It could overburden them. Imaan is something that grows with obedience to Allah, and diminishes with obedience to shaitan. And Allah knows best.
Assalam alaykum sheikh i have a question What about a child of an aoutside marriage? Example A Married Man with children impregnate another woman outside of marriage. So are those children of inside and outside marriage mahram or non-mahram?
Assalamalikum brother you are talking about model sister halima i think you are not following her in instagram that's why you think she is very modest She knows what she’s doing is wrong. She said it herself before that they are making her do things that is taking her out of the fold of Islam. I guess she has now agreed to be a puppèt. Q.S Al-Ahzab: 59 O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful
Being a revert from the west, it is so strange to me. That cousins would be considered among people that you would marry. Here in the US, it is considered disgusting. So it’s hard for me to understand this. I’m not objecting the guidance. It’s just so strange to me.
I think today Muslim women should follow the practice of our pious predecessors (Rasulullah sallalahu alayhi wasallam's wives and sahabiyat) to cover their faces (wearing niqaab). In my opinion, face can attract attention from men and stir their innate lust!
Or Maybe men should also find a way to lower their gaze and control their lust, because just putting it on the women is to easy. We're not the only ones supposes to lower our gaze and it seems like a lot of men forget about that.
In the west, it is difficult maintaining proper hijab as it is and Niqab would make it difficult for the masses. No doubt Niqab is praiseworthy but it is NOT mandatory according to the majority of the classical scholars. Fitnah will always be there, you will have women without any sort of hijab or women with hijab with beauty, regardless men have to guard their gaze. Fitnah existed at the time of the prophet (saw) despite he (saw) didn't make the face veil mandatory on women but ordered men to guard their gaze. Allah knows the best.
When a women dies it clearly declares..only mahram men can see her ..then wat about while she is living??off course she should cover right ..no where in history books comes the appearance of the sahabah women as its pardah..n mens appearance is mentioned... Allah knows best ..n may He guide us all..
[Common senses vs Gender threat vs Reformation..He is right but he is not right] Derived from the word haraam, which literally means something that is prohibited, mahram in fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) refers to a person with whom marriage is prohibited because of their close blood relationship, because of radaa'ah (breastfeeding), or because of being related by marriage. Better not to use these terms Mahram,Non Mahram and Hijab.Come direct on the verses. The mahram term,is later on derived by fuqhaa,Quran says, haraam are you for to marry with A,B,C etc and after that, with whomsoever you want to marry, you can(Al Nissa). This is that in short.Better to say that, either,These two terms Mahram and Non mahram has been manipulated to such extent as Gender threat, like dog vs cat by Mullas,as from other side,Quran & Hadith says,"My ummah is like a human body in love and compassion that if a part heals, the whole body trembles with pain" (It is not being meant for men only) and "all the Muslims are one bond",clearly That is a selection of marriage for to marry, for to generate human beings in future, either the humans would have beem like Animals without the discipline of mother and sisters etc for doing sex or marriage,or either would have been Angels without the sex and gender. And Surah Noor or the etiquettes of gender dealings in all aspect from eye to knot without the lust & Hijab is barrier, not dress,There concealing dress for to conceal the body including Ornaments(Either they can't wear it,or they can hide it),infront of men, with whom it is not haraam to marry,(In the indirect phrase),by saying infront of the Mahram men,to maintain the precautions or etiquettes not to fall in the lust. That is it and lastly A taqwa ha Huna and A taqwa ha huna
So school of thought is not Allahs word . Maybe this maybe that isn't a good way. If it is in the Quran it is Allahs word. An opinion is just that, a man made opiniion. That's why hadiths shouldn't take president over the Quran as it is cultural not Gods word.
School of thought is an almost mandatory in islam. If you dont have a school of thought, you dont know how to live your life. You need a school of thought to understand and think. It takes rulings from hadiths, quran and more, and puts a definition and an understanding to it, and exceeds that in which has not been talked about. If you dont have a school of thought, you dont have a way of life, and you dont have a way of islam

As-Salaamu Alaikum please let me know I keep my socks on all day as I am out and about if I have to make Wudu I wipe over my cotton socks do I have to take them off or is it safe to wipe over them I can’t wear thick socks ? Plus we don’t have leather socks any more !
I would love to know the answer to this too!
Another good topic for a short video is about wiping socks.
Mashallah
Is this according to the Shafi'ī madh'hab? Isn't the Hanafī madh'hab less strict on the number of breastfeedings to be considered foster children?
Assalam alaykum sheikh i have a question
What about a child of an aoutside marriage?
Example A Married Man with children impregnate another woman outside of marriage. So are those children of inside and outside marriage mahram or non-mahram?
In terms of covering the feet while praying can anybody tell me why shiek Othman Alkamis said that praying with uncovered feet is permissible!!
The hadith of Asma' (her wearimg transparent) isn't in Sahih muslim. Most scholars say it's very weak
Is my uncul son my mahram
No, he's not your Mahram sister. And you can marry him.
Genuine question. How long should the hijab be? Does it have to cover the bum as well if I’m already wearing loose abaya?
If the abaya is loose its ok
What is jilbab
MAHRAM; BENEFICENT WOMEN AND HIJAB; I AM A BELIEVER:40:85: MU’MIN, MY VEIL IS VERY SHARP MENTIONS ANGEL JIBREEL INTO CHAPTER 40:85; IT

HELLO ❤
Why the husband is special case?
Being a revert from the west, it is so strange to me. That cousins would be considered among people that you would marry. Here in the US, it is considered disgusting. So it’s hard for me to understand this. I’m not objecting the guidance. It’s just so strange to me.
Why do cousins marry cousins? Did Allah allow that?
I think today Muslim women should follow the practice of our pious predecessors (Rasulullah sallalahu alayhi wasallam's wives and sahabiyat) to cover their faces (wearing niqaab). In my opinion, face can attract attention from men and stir their innate lust!
jazakumullah khair Yah Abi
[Common senses vs Gender threat vs Reformation..He is right but he is not right]
Derived from the word haraam, which literally means something that is prohibited, mahram in fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) refers to a person with whom marriage is prohibited because of their close blood relationship, because of radaa'ah (breastfeeding), or because of being related by marriage.
