I so enjoy seeing how you share this lovely craft, and your friendship. Bec's knit is really involved...and beautiful, and her skin is fabulous! so glowy! thanks for sharing, such a preciousness having an in real life craty friend to share with !
Thank you so much Barbara. :)
This was another fabulous episode, and I especially loved to see the joy on the faces of you both as you share your knitting. Bec, it is wonderful to see you and your projects. The Secret Garden sweater is spectacular. The day a Mostly Knitting Podcast is aired is the best day of the week. Thank you.
Aw - thanks Joanne. You always make me feel so special with your comments. I love doing the podcast with Bec. I wish we lived in the same city like we did before. Ah well - one day maybe. Our friendship has stood the test of distance. :)
Tash and Bec I loved the poscast and Tash I can safely say you are the go to person for Skimmer socks and Musselburgh hats. Bec the sweater you are knitting with the all over fair Isle is great and will be a good wear. Well Tash you have started the wrap in the fabulous colours can't wait to see the finished product ❤ Cheers to your yarny friendship ❤
Thank you so much Rosemary. xx
That was such fun! Tash, I hold my needles exactly the same way you do, the only difference is I wind the yard around my pinky once, it was interesting to see someone holding needles like me. Nice to see you two together, I loved all the knits and all the purchases. Wishing both the hat recipients a smooth treatment journey and a full recovery. Enjoy the tennis, thanks for sharing, Karen 🥰
Thanks so much Karen. That is so funny. I don know many people who hold the needles the same way either. i used to wind the yarn around my pinkie first as well but i ended up dropping that part when i realised it didnt make a difference to my tension. Readjusting has been much quicker which is always nice. :)
Another fabulous podcast, thank you. And thanks Bec for the very handy tip about dropping the mohair. 👏👏👏
Thank you so much. :)
Great to see you with Becks again ❤
Thanks Carol. It was really fun to do another podcast together. :)
Great podcast Ladies. So nice to see you together again. My hubby is in Vancouver for work at the moment! Enjoy the Tennis, Tash. ❤❤
Thank you so much Joanna. X
Wonderful to see Bec again. Glad you enjoyed my home province!🇨🇦
Thanks so much Beverly. I hope to get there one day. :)
Great to watch you both chatting together and when you said you were going to the Australian Open. It was always my dream to go to Wimbledon that did happen, not once but many time as was successful with the draw for quite afew years. Enjoy your experience.
Thanks so much Bev. It was great to be there. :)
I like the idea of Bec for the Secret Garden sweater : the sun passing through the gate of a mysterious house. I love the colours chosen. I admire your thinking for the yarn management. Thanks Tash, thanks Bec.
It is going to be beautiful. I am so looking forward to seeing it finished. :)
Hi Girls Your projects and yarn are beautiful. I seem to have the same interest in patterns and yarn you pick. I love the Knitting for Olive yarn and I love the price. I am making the Barbor as well and found putting markers after every 15 stitches for the pattern makes it nice. I look forward to the blocking with silk because I bought the putty color for the top and I am doing it in medium just because I am 68 and don't want it to be too tight for my body. Hope I am correct . Love your podcast and thoughtfulness in your knitting. We knitters feel this is the ultimate gift of love and care and it is.
Thanks so much Carol. Hope you love your Barbroe when it is finished. X
23 years ago I cut a repeat out of my wallpaper…now I know I’m among my people 😁😁😁. Color is the most important thing to me. Because, I support your decision 100%😁😘😁
Love it when Beck joins the podcast.
Me too!! Thanks Joyce. :)
Thank you both, very informative. Tash, could you talk about how you fit knitting into your day during a video please? I am struggling to be more productive and think you probably have some pointers! Brilliant podcasts and love seeing you do these periodic ones together.
Thanks so much. I can definitely chat about where i find time to knit throughout the day. It may not work for everyone but I can share my experience. :)
What a lovely podcast and what a lovely friendship you have! That Secret Garden sweater is going to be spectacular. Certainly worth all the math calculations. I, too, am over the moon about my Knitting for Olive yarn purchase from Skein Sisters. Tash, I hope you have a wonderful time at the Australian Open.
Thanks so much Rhonda. Looking forward to seeing what you make with your lovely Knitting for Olive yarn. :)
Hi ,good to see your friend again! I had. O idea Virgin River was filmed in Squamish! Tuning in from a small island off Vancouver Island.😊
Hi Melissa. Thanks so much for watching. Hope you are staying warm. :)
It is so Nice to have a knitting friend! I sure hope we see the end result of the Iron gate sweater. Because you are doing a lovely job!
It’s beautiful, isn’t it. I will definitely ask Bec to share the final result with us. :)
I love seeing Bec!
It was so lovely having her stay and wonderful to have her on the podcast. :)
Great to see you both together, hope the weather improves for you in Melbourne, Tash 🌬️🌦️
Thanks so much. Fingers crossed 🤞
I can see you are both such good friends. Such a lovely video. Thank you so much. 🙋🏼♀️
Thank you so much Gail. X
Enjoy the Australian Open!! I’m a huge tennis fan, and totally understand your excitement (and am more than a little envious 🤪)
I'm just packing now and the little kid inside me is bursting with excitement. It just feels amazing for me, at 50, to finally get to the Australian Open. Thank you for the well wishes. x
What a great episode with you both! I’ve had my eye on the Secret Garden sweater for ages Bec and I love your sunset fade design! Thanks for explaining the yarn management. 😱 It will be totally worth it!
My friend bought me some ‘posh’ wool from her op shop- 6 balls of Rowan Kid Classic for $2 a ball - she had no idea how much of a bargain that was!
Love your dotted rays Tash, but all those stitches puts me off a bit.
Happy knitting to you both! 😃🧶
Thanks so much Susie - yeah, with Dotted Rays, it is probably a bit like Half and Half. You just keep working on it and it is done. I could never knit something like that to a deadline. I love your description of "posh" yarn. Hope you find something nice to knit to make with it. :)
I’m doing my busan sweater in a purple worsted with a variegated pink purple mohair and o love the final look. You’ll be doing great the reverse! It’ll look great!
Thanks Veronica. I am amazed at how two different colours held together come out. Hope you are happy with how yours is going. :)
What a lovely episode 🙏👌❤️You are both talented, grounded and inspiring.Lost me with all the math for the Meadow jumper 😮😅but fascinating nevertheless..I love the idea of having a specific project in mind before being tempted by so many glorious skeins and colour ways out there once you step into a store or scroll online.Have a great start to the New Year both of you.🙏xx
Thank you so much Annie. xx
Great episode, as always! I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like I'm going to need progress reports on that sweater Bec was showing! 😂
I’ll definitely be asking Bec to share updates. :)
Such a lovely video. Sharing our knits with our friends is so special 💖
I wondered if you could both recommend some must have Australian yarn. I'm going to be in Adelaide for a month pretty soon and really want to try some Australian yarn and dyers. I'm in the UK.
Bec might be able to suggest some other dyers but I quite like Skein yarn and Circus tonic handmade if she is still dyeing. :)
@@mostlyknitting thank you. I shall keep an eye out for those
How wonderful to find another Aussie podcaster. Thoroughly enjoyed your 2023 summary! It’s interesting to listen to your views on different yarns. Very informative. I’m not sure when your microphone is placed but your knitting (clicking) was being picked up?
Thank you so much! Sorry about the clicking noise from my needles - good thing i dont normally knit when i podcast. ;)
Beautiful Sophie! I was just about ready to cast this on using lace held double. Have you ever done this with Sophie? You mentioned it was your fourth.
I actually havent used lace held double. I would think you might need to knit it a bit larger as depending on the thickness of your lace, it might not be the same gauge as a DK. It is easily customisable though. Just do a few more repeats of increasing and decreasing. That is what I did with my sport weight one. Sounds like yours would be lovely and light. :)
Loved your podcast with Beck. I am having a little bit of a mind block. Skimmer sock...if I put a few more(2 rows) of german short rows it will bring up the back heel part. Not sure how to do that. Would you have a tutorial on this.
Hi Joyce. You could definitely add a few more short rows to bring up the back. I dont have one on this specifically but i can definitely add it to the list of tutorials I plan to do. :)
Hi, Tash! The moment I saw your Cumulus Tee I knew I had to have one. I have a couple questions about it. First, I’ve never knitted with silk before and now that I have some in hand, I see that it has very little stretch and it reminds me very much of embroidery floss. Do you have any tips for knitting with it? I think splitting stitches will be something I will need to work to avoid. Also, what cast on did you use? When a pattern doesn’t call for a specific one, I usually use the German twisted, but for this, I wonder if an Icord cast on wouldn’t be better. Thanks in advance for any guidance! 😃
Hi Mary. The main thing i would say with silk is to make a large swatch and measure it before and after blocking. My swatches of 6 x 4" were too small and my gauge stretched out a lot in the garment compared to the swatch. I think i just did a long tail cast on for this top. In this case, i dont think the cast on mattered very much. Certainly not an icord cast on as you are doing an applied icord after. Hope that helps. :)
Also. Could you knit the Oslo hat reverse? So then when the mohair ends, it's where you can make it work easier than the top? For the gift
You could do that, or if you are sensitive to mohair, you could just not hold the mohair for the part of the hat that is against the skin. That would also save on yarn…
Can you please show how you do the wrap and turn? I would like to use it on the shawl but it gets confusing for me. Thank you. Nice episode and projects
Hi there. I can definitely do a tutorial on that. There will be plenty of opportunities to show how to do it with this enormous shawl. ;) Thank you for your kind comments. :)
Hi Tash , love your contents from New zealand . I try to knit skimmer sock but not very successful with w&t short rows wonder if you can do tutorial . Thanks . Ps ;I m ex Sydney myself live Mt Colah .
Hi Kim. I can definitely do that. I do have a tutorial on short rows but not in ribbing. ruclips.net/video/D8gTg9Xr17g/видео.htmlsi=FrhN6wakNjiapuIt The process is similar but I can do one that shows that section of the back of the Skimmer socks which is in rib. I will add that to the list. :)
@@mostlyknitting Thanks Tash , I save and use your other tutorial fews months ago for my ankle socks .
Do you like the Oslo with mohair better than the basic pattern?
They really are the same pattern. Just different stitch counts for different sizes. If i was just buying one, i would buy the one with mohair as it suggests a few different sizes. But I have noticed that most people just modify the stitch count for their own gauge and size. In terms of wearing - I like them both equally, as long as the mohair isn’t scratchy. :)
Another wonderful episode. Your hats always look fabulous? My hats, stretch out after blocking. What is your secret?
Thanks Pam. I usually block them before I am finished in case they stretch in blocking and then I dont have to knit as much as i think i do and they get too big or long. I will do a blocking video on the Musselburgh hat i am working on now very soon. Hopefully that will help. :)
@@mostlyknitting I look forward to seeing it. Thanks so much. I am not sure how I learned about your RUclips channel, but I am glad I did.
Thanks Pam. :)
Would like to know a good mohair to knit with yarn for a hat. Have purchase itchy ones. In the USA. Thanks
I really like Isager Silk Mohair. I dont find it itchy at all. My daughter found the Rowan Kidsilk Haze a bit itchy on the Grayson Hat. I will report back on the Knitting for Olive once I have worn it on a hat. :)
Love all the projects! Did anyone catch the name of the lamb socks? I would love to get that pattern.
That is a petite knitter pattern, she up north in 🇨🇦, I think.
I think i have linked all the patterns in the Description under the video. It is the Ovis Socks. So cute. :)
@@mostlyknittingthank you😊
Is the lines quill soft? I have some in my basket at Purl Soho but I’m nervous about if it will be itchy .
I haven’t worn it yet but it feels lovely to knit with. :)
