    Can you do a test of transferring a file over your lan network, instead of testing you ISP speed? Because that speed does not say anything about the power of the powerline adaptors.

    Ok but wich one did you connect first? The one on the router or the other one?

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  2 года назад

      I connected the one on the router first. Keep in mind that you might have to reset the devices to factory settings if you do not manage to get them paired together successfully. I did go through that issue a couple of times.

      @@TechOpened ok thank you. Recieved mine today and, for me it's not good. Somethings that nobody explains but could help. I have a small but tall house, 3 floors in total with the router on the first floor 2 meters from the stairs. The device you connect to the router does not have wi fi capabilities, it's only to get the the net on the house electric sistem. Back to instalation. If I use the other device on the attic (the 3 floor) near the stairs (10 meters in a straight line from the router the speed drops to 70 mb/s, when in front of the router I have 500 mb/s. If I move the wi fi device to the 2 floor ((in a little hall near the stairs again) it drops, again to 80 mb/s. My old TP LINK with 10 years or so does more or less the same. I didn't measure LAN because only one device is connected by cable, all the others are wi fi. So tomorrow morning I'm gonna call assistance and if all stays the same I'll return it to Amazon. House is not new but with 15 years I don't think that electric wires and instalation have changed that much.

    Hi, does the Magic 2 wifi next also come with a pin earth? (for France & Belgium)?

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  4 года назад +1

      I believe the plug that you will get is the same one that I did. Only two prongs. It does however have the metal slots on the plug. I do not know however, is if the metal slots are grounded or not to be honest.

    • @aemarques
      @aemarques 4 года назад +1

      Yes, it does. Different markets get different plugs. In Portugal is the german-style (schuko), but for France and Belgium they also include plugs with "earth", the one model you use in your market.

    Hi. It looks that for the mesh to work properly, that you need be connected only to the Devolos, since they won't commute your device between then and the router (unless the router is compatible which is unlikely). So, for this to work do you recommend to simply turn off the WiFi from the router to use only the Devolos? (This would also mean that I would have to plan on buying more or less devices if I cannot count on router's WiFi)

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  4 года назад +1

      If you keep the routers wifi on, that means you will still have an extra wifi signal at your routers location. So I wouldnt do that. Your correct about the mesh. In my case to connect to the routers wifi, I have to do it manually by picking it in my wifi signal list on whatever device I am using. If you can afford the extra devices to extend the signal throughout your home and benefit from Devolos mesh, than I would do that. Cheers and sorry for the late reply 👍

      Just leaving my experience here. I have bought the multiple room kit so I could turn off the router's WiFi and I can confirm that the Devolos do not have their mesh system working with most router (in this case a current gen Vodafone router in Portugal, a Huawei one).
      Once everything is set up it works great in big houses, speciality being a hybrid with powerline.

    Is the adapter wifi a separate network or does it clone the router network?

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  Год назад

      You can set it up with its own network name and password and it will be as if it is it’s a separate network working off the router network obviously. But in my case I have it set up with the same name as my router and also same password as if they were one network.

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  2 года назад

      Are you sure the cabling from lower floor is the same as the upper floor. Also try resetting the devices to factory settings and try again. Sorry for the late reply.

      @@TechOpened yeah its the same however its connected by powerbox so each floor has its own powerbox i think thats the problem

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  2 года назад

      Could be. They have to be on the same line. Make sure you also have it plugged in directly to the wall socket with no adapter, multiplug, etc..

    Not really all that great but better than HomeAV2 for sure.
    Only WPA2/WPA3-personal; lack of wpa2/wpa3-enterprise if you need it.

    What is the Wi-Fi range on the satellite plug like?

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  3 года назад

      Not super great. It works on any adjacent room to the one where it is placed very very well. Anything over 10 meters with walls in between etc... it will start to degrade.

    • @1973Dean
      @1973Dean 3 года назад +1

      @@TechOpened Great review. How much does it degrade? One room, one standard wall for instance, how much loss of signal (%)?

    • @TechOpened
      @TechOpened  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Dean! In our apartment which has dividing walls made of brick and not drywall… If I am about 2 meters away from the powerline (which is actually plugged into a socket that has a cabinet in front of it) I get a speed of about 160/170 Mbps with an 200Mbps contract. If I go to the adjacent room, I get about the same value. If I go down the hallway 10 meters away or for example into the bathroom (brick wall +tile) I get about 40/50, which is a pretty significant drop.

    Attention, j'ai tenté une installation en remplacement d'un vieux Netgear. Le résultat a été catastrophique, avec des performances 2 fois inférieures à mon vieux Netgear. Devolo a refusé de rembourser les produits achetés. Donc attention...dans certains cas, Devolo ne fonctionne pas.
