Bolsa was my first Surfskate in 2022. Try it in Bowl 2023. Loose grip very easy, because of the two humps over the front wheels. Try a Powell Peralta Flightdeck 280 with good rocker and no humps. Much better. Now I ride a 10.5“ Shogo Kugo. Heavy but steady 😎
I am so freaking incredibly stoked, I just ordered my first surfskate (the carver yago goat, the one you recommended best for bowl riding!) and it comes TOMORROW (AHHH) I appreciate SO MUCH your content, you've helped/guided me so much!!
Thanks Steve. Great tip about CX trucks! So, I went out and bought Yago Dora with CX and made a huge difference from my previous 2 learning setups; Waterborne on loaded Coyote with Paris V3 trucks and Carver Scapestreet with C5 trucks. Waterborne was fun and turny but I found it had less pump energy transfer in bowl(no on flat pavement where Waterborne would win the race). The C5 Scapestreet felt more like a regular skate truck and I may like it one day, but, it did not feel surfy....but restricted. I hope you keep making new videos.
I just started wearing padded shorts. It really allows me to be a bit more aggressive in the bowl. Mentally I know there is a little extra there and it helps. Wrist guards are the number one thing I never skate without. However, in a bowl I am fully padded always. Stay rad Sir.
I just finally got some good safety gear over the last week, I hadn’t even been wearing a helmet due to fact most skate helmets weren’t even comfortable or fit me right. The Skeleton Key tho… that’s finally a light comfortable lid I can wear. Also upgraded the knee pads as I had been sized waaay to small. For elbow protection I find most of what is offered to be horribly uncomfortable or lacking protection. I went with some Sector 9 neoprene sleeves and so far so good tho I’ve only gave them one run in the mini ramp
It would be interesting to compare the Bolsa vs the Black Tip. Concaves, deck sizes, loaded bushings vs Carver ones, etc. I’m between both, but afraid the Bolsa is too short for most of the stances.
I also purchased the protec pads. After looking at the size chart I was surprised by the sizing. I'm about the same dimensions as yourself and the chart said medium. But they fit. Thanks for the vlog
39 yr old surfskater. Been skating for a year. I fractured my wrist on a quarter pipe when I attempted a turn. They put cast on my wrist. I hope I can get back to skating again
I am not a fan of the skateboard wrist pads Vs rollerblade roller skate wrist guards. Though the loops may be a pain that solid plastic piece going from the palm beyond the wrist adds so much more protection from sprained wrists or worse. Especially nice when sliding out IMO
I was gonna say something similar about his helmet comment. "A helmet is a helmet and they all work". There are certifications and different types of protection people should be educated on. Not cool to downplay protecting one's brain. That's the one part of your body you can die from not properly protecting.
@@accidentallyfasting5768 my wife recently had a scary fall with a budget helmet. It’s going in the trash and I’m upgrading her to a new and better quality lid. I bought the Black Tip for bowl riding. It works great in this eviorement due to it's high concave, but it's not that good for Droping in... It's tail is too narrow and bit short 🙁.

Hello from New Zealand. Do the hip pads go under your shorts or over them? 40 year old surfer about to start surf skating because of your channel, thank you for all the great content.
Hello. Two questions: - Can i leave my skate in the trunk of my car, parked under the sun? Because of the gummy stuff on the trucks. - Could you try a NKX (old NKD) surfskate? I bought one for half price, 100€ instead 200, with a flat nose (no pointy surf nose). They seem to be good deal but i am not sure. CX trucks btw. Thx for all the videos and for what you are doing for the surfskate community. Hugs
Thank you so much for your videos! I saw in your site a good recommendation for carver Taylor Knox cx for riding bowls. I bought one and really like it. Can you point the things you like in it and made you recommend it for riding bowls? Thank you;-))
G-form pad sleeves are pretty sweet. Drawback is the sleeve format. Lot’s of video where they put a bottle inside and don’t break the bottle hitting the pad with a hammer. Any initial thoughts on the Bolsa?
I'm a hell yes on the Bolsa. What's not to love? For $30 more than a Carver, you get high-end Loaded components on a fantastic little deck. Excellent for tight maneuvers and bowl riding. Just not the best long distance cruiser. But aside from that, money. Love it.
@@SurfskateLove Guess I’m getting a board for bowl riding then😂. Already sent my trusted shop a message if they can drop one off at my home tomorrow. No more boards, I’m done. Big Swelltech🙈
Hi Steve, my carver resin has 69mm/78A Smoke Concaves wheels. I've been bowl riding for about 10 sessions now and wondering if I should go to smaller wheels. What's reason why you ride the park wheels vs larger wheels? Love the channel, cheers!
Hey there! great video i'm learning a lot from your video here! but i'm still choosing which one i should get also because i'm in China and here there are only few shops with not many decks but a lot of fakes around!! would you be nice to recommend me another surfskate good for bowl? i cannot find carver black tip!!! Thank you!
Hi Steve, the carver park wheels are no longer available. What's your durometer preference for bowl riding and have you tried the softer stock wheels that come with surfskates in the bowl ? I have a Yow Pipe and Carver blacktip. My soulbourdiy is on the way. I'm thinking I'm going to put the meraki set on my soulbourdiy but undecided on wheels. Thanks in advance, you've been major source of inspiration for me.
Hey Steve, did you try the Carver Super Slab or Super Surfer in the bowl? I would love to buy the black tip, however it seems to be sold out in europe everywhere. So, I'm looking at the Super Surfer or Super Slab, since they appear to feature the same concave as the Black Tip. Any experiences with those two?
Yes, I have the Super Surfer. And I actually don't like the front foot placement. The concave up front is configured a bit different than the Black Tip.
@@SurfskateLove thing is i saw the wb adjustment for it is on the back truck not the front, so i wonder if the truck thats being pushed forward for the wb adjustment is the tail one, will it feel off or have any drawbacks in comparison to the wb adjustment being like in other boards which is the front truck as the tail will be longer?
That license plate tho 🤣 Love it haha

No different than any other wheels. No need for speed rings if you're using Carver's built-in bearings.
