- Hello Friends and welcome new subscribers! It is time for Saturday Morning Makes Episode 37! In this episode I am sharing a sweet felt Christmas ornament I made a couple of weeks ago with a wonderful chicken die set from Impression Obsession from my sweet friend Anna Wight's die line:

Felt Chicken Ornament Supply List:
Die set selected to create your ornament. I used Anna's Chicken Die. There are lots of dies created specifically for stitching. I have provided some links below.
Wool Felt: I buy my felt from The Felt Pod and other shops on Etsy - link below.
Needles - I use Tapestry Needles.
Embroidery scissors
Embroidery floss - colors needed for your projects. I used black, golden yellow, red, and cream for example.
Quilt batting for filling the ornament (I forgot to show this in the video! Oops!)
Yarn for scarf - see scarf directions below
Buttons
Seed Beads - can be used for eyes but I just used embroidery floss this time.
Hot glue and glue gun - as needed. NOTE: Hot glue is not always necessary depending on the project chosen.
Scarf Directions:
I crocheted a small scarf to add to the ornament. The scarf is made as follows:
Crochet hook size 3.
Chain 5 (counts as 4 scarf stitches and a chain 1 at the turn)
Turn. Skip the first chain, * crochet a half double crochet (USA terms or a Double Crochet in UK terms) in each of the remaining 4 stitches across. Chain 1 and turn.
Repeat from * until scarf reaches the desired length for your ornament type.
Fasten off by cutting the yarn end and pulling it through the last stitch and weave in the end.
NOTE: If you do not crochet you could create a fabric or felt bandana or scarf instead.

I saw this adorable chicken on Anna's channel the other day. It is just so sweet! I love the hand-sewn look. I can imagine it with different strips of fabric for the scarf for the different seasons of the year. It could be a decoration year round!

Thank you. The stitching dies do help and definitely make it easier. I made kits for my niece with a set I have so she could learn too. Trying with some of the non-stitching dies just gives me more options. It’s fun to play.
