Love everything you said, Life is Strange is in my opinion a very welcoming and comforting game for us in the LGBTQ community. But whenever I go into a new LIS game isn’t I hope to god that it’s going to be an LGBTQ game….like that should NOT be their entire personality. Their amazing stories are what makes the game special. Who they are into shouldn’t be everything. I hate when devs and writers make their sexuality their entire purpose. It’s so….insulting to us in the community in my opinion. There is more to us than just our sexuality.

I greatly appreciate that. It's a sensitive topic so I was hoping I wouldn't upset people (but that is the Internet). But I agree with you 100% and you said it so well. A game shouldn't be "yeah this is the straight male lead game" like why lead with that lol? Like uncharted 4 they didn't lead with that. It can absolutely have those elements and they're basically expected at this point which is totally fine, but to make it the central thing is a terrible terrible idea. It didn't bite them with True Colors but I swear to God if this is LIS 4 with max and they just focus on her bisexuality instead of her amazing character I'm going to have the longest rant they've ever seen lol.

@@PodcastNow as you should. Max has soooo many interesting qualities about her that make her an amazing character and that can make for a wonderful story. If they butcher her by making it all about her sexuality I’m going to be POed lol

I would love another Life is Strange game with Max, and I would also love a Banishers 2 game. Hopefully don't have to wait too long for either of these. I expect to wait a few years. Unfortunately I can not get to the 2nd chapter of Before the Storm - basically the game tells me I cannot purchase it, yet I already of the pack (free on PS+)
I buy and enjoy games because I something about me captivates me, whether that is characters, gameplay, or story, or all of them, then I am not too fussed. If it wasn't for Alex mentioning the game a lot, then I would not have tried the 1st game, which I loved, and basically could not put it down until I finished it

I am glad you cover the LGBT angle with the Deck 9 LIS games. I was afraid of stating my opinion about how I feel about Deck Nine's stance on LGBT issues on Reddit this morning, but after speaking to online friends, watching this video, and thinking about it more, I now understand it better.
Simply put, I feel that the Deck Nine LIS games pandering to the LGBT community is rainbow capitalism. What I mean is that the way Deck Nine handled LGBT issue in the games felt insincere. It didn't felt like how Dontnod handling of the topic in both LIS1 and Tell Me Why - it felt like Deck Nine focused on LGBT issues in both BTS and TC because the Max x Chloe was such a positive reaction from gamers.
Not only I loved Tell Me Why, one of my favorite games of recent times is The Missing: J.J. Macfield and The Island of Memories. Despite the latter was made by Swery, an alleged transphobe, he used LGBT consultants. Nonetheless, I felt that both Tell Me Why and The Missing were more interested in telling great stories through the perspectives of trans characters as opposed to just make money. What I mean is that the Deck Nine games references LGBT events such as referencing gay pride parades and Chloe making LGBT pins, but we don't see the struggle LGBT characters face. For me, Tell Me Why and The Missing focused on the struggle the main characters faced being trans. At the same time, both games promoted the message of be your true self. I want to know both the challenges and the successes LGBT ppl faces - we see that with straight, cis people facing obstacles and successes in video games, afterall.
Just that I feel that the Deck Nine games coverage of LGBT topics are surface level, and that they are doing it for money - much like how Target sells LGBT items during gay pride month.

@@theoutsiderjess1869 I disagree because of the gay couple in the last episode of LIS 2. However, their conversation to Sean is optional, IIRC. With TC, LGBT topics felt like window dressing.

My issue is how Deck Nine kept looking at LiS 1 and going we need to make that ending in True Colors. Really what they need to do is tell their own story in a LiS Game or any other Game and ignore the what happen in LiS 1 or LiS 2 that like saying Yes we know Don't Nod is better then Us. Well Don't Nod is out your in Don't look at them and go we can't make a great Game.

I don't like true colors I like life is strange 2 with true colors it was the same location and in life is strange 1 it was the same location but there's something new in that location in every episode even in life is strange 2 somewhere new to explore but true colors it's the same
