Doesn't need a Season 2! I've said before, I say again and stand on the following comment... There are TOO MANY HANDS IN THE GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY.... The only two who should be in charge of Lucasfilm are Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. Period!
She must have some serious dirt on someone important. In any other walk of life if you performed this badly you would likely find yourself looking for a job, no one should be too big to feel the effects of failure.
@anthonosrobertos At this point, she has to depend on her past success, or at least the higher-ups keep looking at her past success and don't want to get rid of her because if some dumb sense of loyalty or hope that she can do something with Star Wars. That, or she really has some dirt on someone cause dawn.
This is also difficult for me. There were many times during the show where I was excited and said "that was really good" after the scene ended, but there were so many examples of eye rollingly bad shit like the incantation/Song of the night sisters, The decision of not to use the same actress as twins making it harder to figure out who is who, etc. but it is also hard to express these opinions because it is being drowned out by all the "go woke go broke" morons.
@@Alexander-lc7dx now the numbers not making cents is understandable. But I watched it for the Jedi and lightsaber stuff. They gave me PLENTY of that! lol I guess it takes more than glow sticks and space magic to lure most ppl in🤷🏽
Yet anyone that tried to say otherwise before these actual audience viewership numbers came out were automatically labeled as racist/misogynistic/review bombing/etc.
This is why when there is a decent pitch you give the creator a decent amount of creative control, Dave Filoni only has the position he has now due to being allowed to do it
@@matthewtetley7048 And yet Ahsoka was still mid. Filoni isn't the messiah people used to make him out to be. The best star wars content we've gotten is Andor made by people that don't even care about star wars. They need good writers, not star wars fans.
This show was never truly about Star Wars, this was about Leslye Headland wanting to make herself look a success, but being too lazy to make her own show she made it in the "name" of Star Wars, as so many lazy show runners have done with other franchises. It's been reported by various sources that cast and crew are whining that fans are ruining things because they haven't just "ignored / forgotten George Lucas's Star Wars", well duh, like it or not, it is HIS universe, he created it, he forged it in to the success it was and then people like Johnson, Headland, Kennedy, etc think they can rewrite it to suit their own agenda, then they get upset because the fans don't like it, simple answer, if you don't like the fans response, go create your own universe and make that a success, it can't be that hard after all, can it? (Sarcasm) This show was garbage from the start, I'd love to know where the money went as it didn't go to the writers, it clearly didn't go on the sets, it didn't go on the cast, so what DID they spend it on? Quite frankly good riddance to bad rubbish, let's hope that Disney have turned a corner and will be a bit more prudent about green lighting their shows, though frankly from past experience, I won't be holding my breath just yet.
Well, if it has the same writer as the Ap, I’m sure there’s a reason they had some reservations from getting someone who doesn’t respect the law such a broad project. They kind of shot themselves in their own foot with the people they hired for this one.
@@WilG082 If they listen to the fans, we'd finally get something set during the Old Republic, it'd be produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, and it'd be fucking amazing because those two are, first and foremost, fans of the SW IP and its rich lore. Not listening to the fanbase results in 'modern' thinking hipster director wannabes, spoon feeding nonsense to the suits at Disney, resulting in mediocre shows like The Acolyte.
@@wilmasowell that’s because Ryan Reynolds has put his foot down and made sure Deadpool is done how he wants it, and due to the success of the first one (and second one) he’s been allowed to. That can’t work here unless a beloved actor from Star Wars came to direct a show/movie.
Thing is there are some really great actors in the show like Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto and David Harewood. It’s just a shame that the writing was just awful. Definitely had (some) interesting ideas and lore to explore but executed so so poorly.
So lets recap. We got Mando S1-S2, Andor and The Bad Batch... (edit: Rogue One as well) and thats been it for "good/great" SW content for over a decade.
After producing or executive producing Gremlins, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Raiders of the Lost Ark, An American Tail, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Back to the Future Part II, Back to the Future Part III, Schindler's List, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Signs, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Color Purple, Hook, The Bridges of Madison County, Twister, The Sixth Sense, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Seabiscuit, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I think she's allowed to have a "bomb" or two. Nobody's perfect. 😉
@@barryallen871 She's bombed virtually everything in the last decade, including destroying Star Wars and Indiana Jones so much that Disney still hasn't turned a profit on Lucasfilm. She didn't make all those movies, she assisted people who made them. Clearly they had the talent.
This should have been about Plagueis in the first place, I don't understand how one company can have so many wins loaded in the chamber and still manage to fumble it lol
Unfortunately most companies don't want to target the superfans who want niche/interesting story boards. They worry about missing out on the vast majority of their audience who they think would be lost without some shallow relatable character to spoon feed lore at them. You'd think after Deadpool 1 and the lotr movie series that they'd learn its the superfans that fuel popularity but hey ho.
@@GCOSBenbow If they were worried about the majority of the audience why did they make a show like this? It definitely didn't appeal the majority either.
@@GCOSBenbowI'd hardly consider a pre-prequel, Plageius/Palpatine show "niche" or for the "superfans". Such a story could have also explored Yoda in his prime, and it would have been incredibly fun for even the casual fans.
@@GCOSBenbowOn this case they should have targeted the super fans. Darth Plageius’ Legends book is incredible and there’s no doubt in my mind that the Acolyte should have been based on that book. It was THE layup to fumble.
Asking Pedro Pascal to convey emotional depth in a role where his face was hidden almost all the time was a big risk but it worked asking Amandla Stenberg in the Acolyte to portray human emotion at all turns out to have been a step too far
Going out on a limb to say that dripping a "diss track" of her wobbling around, claiming everyone who doesn't like her stone face approach to acting is graycist probably didn't help.
@@goodputin4324yes there was!! What the hell? What don’t u understand what acolytes means!! Siths in training… when u play Star Wars old republic for a sith u start off as an acolytes then when you beat your trials becoming the final acolyte then you become a apprentice… But in the show they were being hunted just like Siths… they were acolytes bound to either turn against each other or remain hidden as the power of Three… Quamir was a Great Sith!!!
I honestly don’t understand how Disney Plus is staying afloat right now. They hardly EVER add new content to that platform anymore. I honestly don’t even know why I still have it, but I will admit that I have some sort of old Marvel or SW animation on in the background pretty regularly, but their “newly added” section seriously only gets something new added to it MAYBE a couple times a month, and I just can’t see a lot of people staying subscribed for that, especially now when it seems like we get maybe one or two Marvel shows and one or two SW shows a year, and maybe one movie from each IP as well. The platform is so incredibly stagnant and has been for quite a while and the only people I could really see subscribing to it are people with kids that just play kids programs all the time.
they have a plethora of kids content + they did some weird merge with Hulu and HBO, so that may be bringing new people in or keeping older subscribers on board. just a thought
In some future show, it’ll show Yoda waking up with a scream and saying, ‘Dream it was! Too many death sticks i took!” Honestly, anything involving Harvey Weinstein’s personal assistant was almost guaranteed to fall flat….
They should've made the show take place 800 years before TPM and show us the Sith in hiding, upholding the Rule of Two, even eliminating dark force users so they wouldn't attract the Jedi Order's attention, since back then the Jedi would still be suspicious of the Sith returning. They would've shown a Jedi Order more cautious with padawans or even jedi at risk of being seduced by the dark side. Then do a spinoff 500 years before TPM, (maybe another 250 before TPM) then the last one starting 100 years before TPM and up until TPM, when the Darth Plagueis novel ends.
I laughed so hard and was not surprised it got canceled. Disney/Marvel really need to learn there lesson and give the fans what they want. This idea audiences will watch anything because of the IP/Brand is dead wrong. They also need to stop announcing several years of movies/shows, because they always cancel alot of them. They also need to let the directors do their thing. If the corp heads put these shows in a choke hold, then none of these shows will do well.
Yes! I wish they'd stop announcing projects years ahead! It's annoying. Maybe a year's notice? That's fine. I don't need to hear about a show or movie with a release date that coincides with me getting my AARP card. JUST STOP!
They think we'll watch it and like it bc of the brand... and then try to insert their desired social message like a Mom hiding broccoli in food so the kid doesn't notice and eats it.
The Mandalorian had an amazing chance to let Mando keep the dark saber and embrace Grogu's culture and then vice versa, and have Bo Katan and her mandos realize that leadership is more than just being the best fighter or having a special stick. Would've been awesome to see her redefine leadership in their culture and working hard to overcome their dogma. Such wasted potential of an easy win.
The show would probably have been a success, if they had focused on The Sith. The studio that said no you can’t do that is the same one who canceled it. Thanks as always for this breakdown.
And it turns out the only Sith in the show was more accepted and liked than the protagonists. I hope Manny gets more chances; I thought he did great with what he had to work with. I actually went back and started watching The Good Place to see more. He was great in that, too
The fact that the show made the Jedi out to be corrupt while humanizing the Sith was one of its key faults. Imagine a WW2 movie where Hitler is made out to be the victim.
Disney needs to stop being so risk averse because in the end they end up crashing and burning anyways. Even if they made a dark-side focused show and pissed a few sensitive people off - there would be hoards that enjoyed it. Look at Deadpool and Wolverine... way over the top and huge success. I think they can afford to take a tiny bit of risk with a show called "The Acolyte"
On one side there's people boycotting Disney, another side there's toxic whiny incels who complain about anything featuring women and poc, then there's the folks who only watch after every episode is out to binge. The final side is the real fans who were excited to see where this show was heading but now it's cancelled because of every previously mentioned side of the "fans". Maybe we don't deserve anything after all.
This is a shame. I thought that the Acolyte had so much potential to go a different way. An opportunity to discuss the different perspective of the Jedi, but they could have focused on Osha, Kimir and maybe Plagus. So much potential, much like Andor. 🙁
I agree. And they could have once they did the intro stuff in season 1. They should give The Acolyte another season. It seems some shows aren't great to start with, but then they take off and become better... but they have to do a lot of character development and intro stuff first... and that's when fans start complaining. eg. SW1... you need to do the political stuff to understand why the Emperor was so incredible as a bad guy. SW8 was the worst movie ever and destroyed the goodness of SW7 and ruined Luke etc. (!), but the Acolyte had potential... even with the stupid laser wip (who's vetting this carp?!). I want to see what happens to the characters, and because of $ (and fans who are too quick to jump-ship), we may never get to know. Even if it's not perfect, don't you guys want to know what happens at this point in the story??? I can't believe there's been this much complaining about this show, when SW8 should have flopped like a dead whale, and then the movie should have been a dream sequence before redoing the story and Luke etc.
I am already sick of Grogu and Mando, and I suspect I'm not alone. So I got news for Disney, their "safe movie" is going to disappoint them, too. THIS is why the corporatization of any product is HORRIBLE for consumers in the long run. They've squeezed all the blood out of the stones they have. We'll see what happens in glorious detail. Just be prepared for disappointment. 🙄😕
@@740Tony I'm sure there are more than a few people who like it, but at this point it seems like Disney is looking for only blockbusters and I highly doubt _that_ many people are _that_ into a gurgling green toy doll. 🙄
The acolyte could have worked the directors just needed more supervision. My biggest problem is the constant flip flop of morals on almost all the characters
The lightsaber duels were good. It’s a shame, if true, that the story was restricted from focusing on the true Sith. I would’ve enjoyed Tenebrous and Plagueis taking out a bunch of Jedi who would never make to reveal their existence.
Its wild because the title of the show literally being "The Acolyte" implies its a show focusing on the Sith. Why not rename it to something else completely if you're too scared to actually follow through?
It's not true at all. Headland is just trying to save face. Kathleen gave her 180 million dollars to do what she wanted and she s#@t out a turd. That Statement reads like it was prepared by a PR Firm. I know Charlie is a Optimist and that's fine. But this show deserved to be Force Ghosted.
How this series wasn’t just an adapted version of the “Darth Plagueis” novel I’ll never know. Season 1 would be about Darth Tenebrous and Plagueis, Season 2 about Darth Plagueis and Sidious. Make it as close to 1:1 as possible with the book. Boom, done.
There were a lot of problems with the show. I agree the budget is one of the biggest problems. I believe at some point they will be cleaning up storylines somewhere in Dave Feloni and Jon Favreau projects so that they can be properly done.I would not exactly knocking on the Acolyte director as she takes orders from higher up too as it appears her original treatment would have been far better than what she was allowed to do. $150M can be done with quality if you have a good enough story to tell and you have people who know how to do a lot with that budget like Jon Favreau and Dave Feloni who did it with The Mandalorian season 1. They also need to dump people like Kathy Kennedy as everything that is wrong about Star Wars can be directly tied to her.
I find it difficult to justify maintaining a Disney + subscription. I get attached to a series just to see it canceled or they decide to turn it into a 2 hour movie instead of say season 4 of the Mandalorian. So Disney wants me to subscribe for 6 to 8 weeks and then to cancel my subscription for months until something else I'm interested in might air. Somehow, I really don't think this is Bob Iger's strategy but it's what he's going to get. Regarding the Acolyte, I found it interesting enough to hold my attention and it left me wanting more at the end.
What Oreos are you talking about? They have Star Wars Oreos right now that are themed after characters from the movies. None of the cookies are of characters from The Acolyte.
I'm not buying Hedland's PR team trying to spin the show as the fault of LucasFilm. What what I can tell, she got exactly what she wanted and it wasn't good.
@@F0XD1E Basing on Hedlands interviews before the cancellation. The show matches what she said the show was pitched as. Now suddenly she's 180'd saying it wasn't what she envisioned.
@@bradmiles1984 Of course she's going to tow the party line before it gets canceled. She doesn't want to piss off the higher ups. After it gets canceled she has less to lose. The earlier interviews actually said it was going to be a story about the Sith.
@@F0XD1E There's interviews from 2023 including when she was at star wars celebration where she wasn't saying what she is now. It's very convenient that it has to be before she was towing company line instead of being truthful and now is pivoting because it flopped. What is more likely given she'd never created any project at even a fraction of the size of that show, given that fact it wouldn't be shocking it failed.
This shit isn't canon because fire can't burn in a vacuum. The whole thing was a stupid fever dream Ki-Adi-Mundi had shortly after he was reminded of the Sith's existence in Episode 1, and ate some bad street cart food.
@@FredrickTesla but yet the death star can burn and explode with fire when that fire explosion be quickly snuffed out? people like you in this fandom that don’t understand physics don’t really work the same way in Star Wars as it does in our real world that’s why it’s science fiction😂
@@Ghost_-nz5dy Except the fire coming from the explosion of the death star is actually smoldering debris, which absolutely does get snuffed out mere moments after it explodes. Thats why there is no massive bonfire simply burning where the deathstar was, just sitting in the open for several minutes without any explicable fuel in a vacuum, as was the case with the scene in the acolyte. All you've shown is that you haven't watched actual Star Wars and only come around here to be a sad excuse for a troll.

FTR, it's not physics, just simple chemistry, so you can't even get the science branch correct!
The Acolyte was dope. There are a few of reasons some of yall didn't like it. 1. Pregidious 2. Chauvinist 3. Not being able to accept anything new 4. Unable to accept that the Jedi are self righteous and full of flaws
@@richardfolden3860 Worse than Vader crushing a ship with The Force one second and then a second ship flying by the next? Worse than Darth frickin' Vader being stopped by a little patch of fire? Worse than a Stormtrooper being taken out by a lady lightly slapping his helmet? Star Wars is dead, Disney killed it.
We wouldn’t be talking about a cancellation if Disney would have just taken the Plagueis novel and turned it into a 40+ minute 10 episode series. It’s one of the best written legends books and most fans think highly of it. It would be all the things the acolyte was supposed to be. About the Sith and told by the Sith. Makes the Jedi look foolish. Gets into dark side powers. But it would do all of that without connecting space witches to Anakin’s birth, throwing Ki Adi Mundi directly into a timeline that contracts his later statements, and then making Yoda look like an idiot. And how could we forget Amandla’s stellar acting? 2 whole facial expressions for an entire series PLUS an absolute banger of a diss track.
Charlie, your ability to cope and rationalize for Disney is incredible… I’m sure it had nothing to do with the actress who played osha insulting fans and adding race politics.. absolute trash bag
It was really popular on my Threads feed but seems like no one else liked it. I thought it was fine, no Andor but not bad, I enjoyed the lightsaber action.
I also wanted for the show to continue because we still need to know who placed the order of the clones. Which caused Yoda to tell Windu "Blind we are if the creation of the clones we could not see".
@@bradmiles1984 thank you, but I meant to say, how, my phone changes what I'm trying to say. Yes, I know that they said his name. I was just referring that I had hoped they would bring to action during the Acolyte series. Before getting cancelled.
@@mezar32 If you watched the Clone Wars, you'd have already seen it. The creation of the clones is also something like a century after the setting of this show, despite Ki Adi Mundi showing up decades before he was born.
It’s impossible to force audiences to watch your products, so you need to attract them. Disney failed to do so because many people believed it didn’t look promising from the start, nor was it good enough to spread through positive word of mouth. Many of those that saw the first couple episodes didn’t like its low quality, and therefore they didn’t care enough to continue to watch it. The people to blame is Disney themselves.
2:29 "They care about money" If all they care about is money, they SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK at making money. These SW shows appeal to a tiny fraction of the possible audience, and actively push away established fans. So LOL

Same thing is happening in restaurant sectors and really all over the consumer sectors. People have less spending power and they are chooseing to spend less on entertainment. It's a natural process that will eventually kill the upward pressure on prices.
@@allenmciver1888 true but i can get past that since they had explosions in the og starwars films. it was all the other garbage writing and characters and some castings where it went wrong
At this point, it might be too late. My family used to watch every movie in the theater more than once, we're talking 12-16 tickets. I saw Revenge of the Sith 5 times the first weekend it was out, and its opening crawl made me laugh out loud in the theater. TLJ ruined that, followed by almost everything else they put out and now, I don't think any of us even care about Andor season 2, because the franchise has been beaten to death so badly by Disney. It's almost as bad as what was done to Star Trek.
@@BlodhelmI know what you mean. Five or eight viewings for each movie. I went to one showing of The Force Awakens opening weekend. That was it. I boycotted the rest of the movies.
They dont care about the fans they care about money? how about make a series that isn't written and acted extremely poorly and rewrites cannon to such a stupid degree that no one could care about the universe anymore?!? Fans don't need to be given a pile of shit and keep watching week to week.
The acting wasn't bad imo, neither were the characters themselves. They were mostly pretty interesting. But the story line and the backstories were just atrocious. Qmir might just be the worst Sith I've ever seen in any form of media; but Qmir as a character is super interesting and was acted out really well.
ALL Star Wars shows lack character depth. This show was good for what it was. The fight choreography was sick and the actors were gorgeous and all had good chemistry. Disney let the facists win.
If you’re in business , everything you do has to at least be good. If you’re Disney , historically you were the gold standard . What the hell happened.
I’m glad this was cancelled. Too many ways this re-wrote canon in too many radical ways. This is proof that Kennedy’s just not the right for Lucasfilm. She needs to go.
@@eds1942 it made anakin’s birth seem like nothing as he was spontaneous created like the twins. The show messed with the appearance of Mundi, and the whole timeline is off on how much time passes between the end of the High Republic and the beginning of The Phantom Menace. It was a mess and proof that Hedland and Kennedy do not respect even simple timeline requirements.
Indeed. Kennedy rose to fame because she managed to get executive producer credits on all the great stuff that Lucas and Spielberg did. However very clear now that on her own she is a genuine disaster. Time to retire lady.
@@TheRealmfc90125 Ki-Abi-Mundi’s birth year was only given in Legends EU. From the sound of things, it seemed like Headland wanted to lean more on Legends than they would allow her to. She wanted to use Yoda, they gave her Mundi. She wanted Tenebrous, they allowed her Plagueis. If we are worried about everyone now knowing about there being a Sith, because of Adi-Mundi’s line in the Phantom Menace? Well,.. the season ending with nobody, no living Jedi, has a reason to believe that the Sith have returned. Mundi himself was convinced that Mae must have been trained by a Jedi Master, who Vernestra painted as being Sol, which best fit the evidence. In the finale Vernestra realized that the she felt the presence of her old apprentice who feel to the Darkside was involved, and took that information to Jedi Grandmaster Yoda (who knew that the Sith persist under Bane’s Rule of Two in the Phantom Menace), so that she could further her investigation. In Legends, the Jedi found out about the Ro2 from Bane’s apprentice and then some Sith Lord slipped up about 200 years before the movies, allowing the Jedi to realize that the Sith were still around. The Jedi sent Sentinels to investigate, but those that returned, had little to nothing to show for it. And since the Jedi aren’t supremacists, Sith or not, if they aren’t an active threat to the galaxy, they leave well enough alone. True, Jedi had gone missing or ended up dead, but those Jedi could be seen as the antagonizing party of the situation without further evidence. Which is similar to what we see in this show. IF Sol had followed the Jedi Council’s recommendations, they would’ve left the Witches’ coven alone, and none of this would’ve ever happened. With Anakin’s birth? Anakin was a Vergence (anomalous concentration of the Force) in the Force, created (fathered) by the Force, birthed into the world via parthenogenesis. In him, (and his children), they have a m-count (Midi-chlorian level) of well over 20,000 per cell, the highest ever. In the Acolyte, Mae and Osha were twined or cloned or “created” at a Force Vergence (Nexus point), either at or soon after conception, by way of some ritual or experiment. Probably a bit of both, since the embryos were then implanted into the Zabrak, probably to either avoid a scandal for their genetic mother (who led their coven) or to further some religious farce of the twins being “a sign that they were on the right path” or whatever. Together, they have (or more accurately share) an m-count of 20,000 per cell. The witch craft, like literally ALL Force alchemy or witch craft in Star Wars is just ridiculous bs (and part of why I only consider canon as being just Lucas’ 6 movies). As far as lore goes? In Legends, Plagueis was attempting to do something directly along this line, but with a controllable, predictable and reproducible result. He literally bought a hundred or more identical twins from the Hutts and through a combination of medical science and use of the Force tried to force the Midi-chlorians to create a case of a viable virgin birth with a m-count of 20,000. None of the few offspring lived up to his standard. And of those that lived to birth, they either had extremely low m-counts or were mentally unstable or deformed. More importantly, he couldn’t control the process, and so he disposed all of the subjects and their offspring. But the Force retaliated with the conception of Anakin. So, what we get with the twins in the Acolyte would be very intriguing to Plagueis, but neither does what the witches did out do him nor does it ruin Anakin anymore than the Sequels did by effectively giving the title of the Chosen One and extra-super powers to a Palpatine, rather than one of Anakin’s progeny in keeping with the prophecy.
The only problem with making Ahsoka your primary show is the ratings aren't particularly strong. So either they're going to have to cut the budget down, or you can expect this show to be cancelled as well.
I am SO glad we never found out what they had planned for Yoda. Especially after what was done to Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Obi-Wan during the Kennedy era. I'm thinking maybe Disney should finally consider start giving the PAYING Star Wars fans what they actually WANT.. THEY'RE the ones who'll be buying the merchandise long after everyone else has gotten bored and gone home. Sorry, they WERE the ones, until Disney/Kennedy set out to wreck everything fans loved about Star Wars, to the point of alienation, something that years ago would have been considered near impossible.. Also, Star Wars fans don't watch Star Wars for 'representation'. They watch it for the characters and their stories. I mean, Andor Season 1 had a diverse cast, but nobody cared about that. They were more interested in the actual personalities of the characters.. The Acolyte, on the other hand, was a straight up activist-fest, that tried to mangle established Stars Wars lore to suit itself. And these days, blatant activism is an absolute turn off for fans.. If the makers of the Acolyte had more respect for, and more understanding of Star Wars, I would have been more supportive, but they seem to have the same sort of mindset as the Rings of Power showrunners..
Hear me out, Plaguies the wise freezes Osha in Carbonyte, Palpatine kills Plaguies and uses Osha as a “Winter Soldier” in the Empire, Luke discovers her post Return of the Jedi and they fall in love, Osha conically becomes Mara Jade 👀
Maybe make a show that's good in its first season? They had 180 million dollars and shat so hard, they ruined the franchise to the point they'll be lucky if anyone shows up next time.
Read the Darth Plagueis novel THEN talk about him and the Rule of Two. Here are 3 excerpts from the book: 1. Like Plagueis, Tenebrous had obviously embraced the fact that Darth Bane’s Rule of Two had expired. Precious few Sith Lords had honored it, in any case, and with good reason, as Plagueis saw it. 2. As often as Plagueis maintained that the Rule of Two had ended with their partnership, the Muun remained the powerful one, and Palpatine the covetous one. 3. Plagueis the Wise, who in his time truly was, except at the end, trusting that the Rule of Two had been superseded, and failed to realize that he would not be excused from it.

The show reminds me of when we were kids making up our own play, and everyone in the audience would pretend it made sense, but in reality, they were quietly chuckling at the trainwreck. That’s exactly what this felt like to many.
Top rated comment here. For me, this train crash was a delicious parody (that sometimes took itself way too seriously: the horrible Crouching Tiger wirework gliding in the last episode). Disney should've renewed it as a parody, thus removing it from canon and start making fun of its sequel trilogy as well. But they're too proud!

Really wish we could have gotten the Sith based show sounds so much better than what we got Thanks Charlie

This idea audiences will watch anything because of the IP/Brand is dead wrong. They also need to stop announcing several years of movies/shows, because they always cancel alot of them.
They also need to let the directors do their thing. If the corp heads put these shows in a choke hold, then none of these shows will do well.
@@rosalindhb 😂 you're funny 😁
It sucked a big hard one. It was called the Acolyte and yeah that was barely the case.

Yeah maybe make a show that’s created by fans who care about the lore. Not people who are more interested in shoehorning politics into everything.
2:29 "They care about money"
If all they care about is money, they SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK at making money. These SW shows appeal to a tiny fraction of the possible audience, and actively push away established fans. So LOL
They think they're broadening their appeal but its clearly and obviously the opposite
Remember the time when Disney said they wouldn’t increase their service cost? Before the dark times.
"we've made nothing but sh*t for years, now give us more money."
Im just really disappointed i wont get to see Manny as a badass saber wielding, bad guy with the arms of a minor god anymore. 🥵

I think they should make a plan to retcon the Sequel trilogy. That would get a lot of fans back on board.
If only...*sigh*

Show lacked character depth but it was a great story and was building the lore up to TPM. Disney cowed to the internet incel culture.
ALL Star Wars shows lack character depth. This show was good for what it was. The fight choreography was sick and the actors were gorgeous and all had good chemistry. Disney let the facists win.

I'm ecstatic for these news
Well that's upsetting it was just getting good at the end
I’m glad this was cancelled. Too many ways this re-wrote canon in too many radical ways. This is proof that Kennedy’s just not the right for Lucasfilm. She needs to go.
How did it rewrite canon?
"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise?"
"Legend has it, he never made it out of the cave."
There were some good bones underpinning The Acolyte, but the flesh went saggy and rotten.
^ This, most of the characters were interesting, the acting was really solid. But the actual story was just complete dog.
No, they went producing the show, knowing it had advanced bone cancer from the start. ☠️
I enjoyed the Acolyte, I believe the director did not get a chance to improve the story line.
Sith show with no sith = Shit show
Hear me out, Plaguies the wise freezes Osha in Carbonyte, Palpatine kills Plaguies and uses Osha as a “Winter Soldier” in the Empire, Luke discovers her post Return of the Jedi and they fall in love, Osha conically becomes Mara Jade 👀
I am so upset about this. I really liked this show and where the story was going was looking so bright!

Maybe make a show that's good in its first season? They had 180 million dollars and shat so hard, they ruined the franchise to the point they'll be lucky if anyone shows up next time.
Read the Darth Plagueis novel THEN talk about him and the Rule of Two. Here are 3 excerpts from the book:

Best analogy ever!
But they're too proud!
the fact that they were planning on showing a young Palpantine makes me happy that it canned now......that's one of Mouse's biggest problems is constantly trying to shoe-horn people things in where they don't belong for the Member-berries or for the "oh hey he's the guy from the movie!!!" affect
