There is no way in Hell you can just plug a Bitlocker-encrypted drive into another computer and disable Bitlocker encryption on that drive. If it were that easy, there would be no point to even using Bitlocker. Think you need to check your facts.

Yeah, he talking out his ass. Thats why a TPM is needed for every computer running bitlocker. Its unique to that specific computer and can knly ne unlocked using the key generated using that tpm

  • @haritadepalli959

The third method seems to suggest that anyone without the key can steal a drive an decrypt it - which makes it practically useless.

I was in a big trouble when I formatted my C drive (system drive) and my other drives like D, E and F were locked by bitlocker and I didn't know the recovery key. After some trial and error, I finally was able to unlock those drive without losing the data.
Here is how you can also unlock your drives: (You need to have a dell laptop)
-Restart system and enter a BIOS mode (Keep pressing F12 if you are a dell user. For other manufacturers, key might get differ).
-After entering BIOS, you will see an option called 'SupportAssist OS Recovery' and press enter.
-Choose option RESET (This will re-install the factory operation system that came with the system when you had bought it)
-After choosing RESET, you will see 2 options: Reset to factory setting and Reset and update.
-Choose Reset to factory setting (You might want to take back up of your C drive if there are any important files stored on your desktop, documents, downloads, etc. because this will format your C drive (where windows is installed) and will re-install the factory OS.)
-It will take 15-20 mins and you are done!
-You will be asked setup your system (like new).
-Once it is done, you will see that your locked drives have been unlocked successfully and data is still there in the drives as you left.
THIS IS HOW IT WORKED FOR ME. I'M POSTING THIS IN ORDER TO HELP SOMEONE WHO IS FACING THE SIMILAR ISSUE.

Unfortunately none of these worked for me when I tried to unlock my bitlockered USB. The first asked for me to unlock bitlocker before wondershare would recover any files. For the second solution, MS never backed up my key, and for the third solution, there was no 'turn off bitlocker' option, just 'unlock bitlocker', which prompted the password/recover key as normal.

You cannot just plug a bit locker encrypted drive to another computer and just click decrypt drive. That defeats the purpose of encryption. You will still need your password from the old computer or the recovery key.

    • @RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware
      @RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware  10 месяцев назад

Hi there, thank you for your question! It's possible that the individual files were encrypted separately using a different encryption method or program. BitLocker typically encrypts the entire drive, and once you've unlocked the drive, all the files should be accessible. Ensure that BitLocker protection is fully disabled, and if you still can't access some files, they might have been encrypted with another method. Check for any specific file extensions or markers indicating a different encryption method, and consider making a backup of the locked files onto your computer to troubleshoot decryption separately.

Hi there, thank you for your question! Have you tried checking for backups of the data? I would suggest contacting professional data recovery services specializing in encrypted drives. Additionally, you can seek assistance from Microsoft support or online forums specifically dedicated to BitLocker for guidance and potential tools to aid in data recovery. Remember that the success of data recovery depends on the situation and severity of the issue, so consulting experts is advisable for critical data that cannot be recovered through conventional methods.

Hi there, thank you for your question! Try to connect the drive to a different USB port or restart your computer to resolve any software glitches. If possible, try accessing the drive on a different computer to determine if the issue is specific to your system. If all else fails, it is recommended to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance. It's essential to have a backup of your BitLocker recovery key stored in a secure location for situations like this.

Hi there, thank you for your question! Some third-party software options available that claim to be able to unlock a locked drive include Passware Kit, Elcomsoft Forensic Disk Decryptor, and DiskInternals Unlocker. If reinstalling Windows 7 doesn't help, you can try formatting the drive to unlock it, but this will delete all data on the drive. Using third-party software to unlock a locked drive may carry some risks, so it's recommended to seek the assistance of a qualified technician if you are unsure about how to proceed.
