As a Penguins fan since I moved to western Pennsylvania in 1990 and a very passionate Jersey collector; I appreciate this video so much. Every word spoken and every emotion you displayed when talking about all 3 was so perfect!
3:27 I think it was weird when Pittsburgh re-branded when they did. But personally, I liked this jersey a lot! I wouldn't have minded seeing a Reverse Retro version of this...
Personally I think the actual Robo-Penguin logo is really clean but I hate the black smear jersey with a passion and I'm glad you feel the same Edit: Upon finishing the video I absolutely agree with your list although I will say that 2014 stadium jersey is atrocious until the day I die and that I'd swap out the gold jerseys for that.
I don't have strong feelings either way about the Robo-Penguin but oh man thank you so much for looking at these jerseys OBJECTIVELY and not through the eyes of nostalgia. It's so annoying to hear people praise jerseys simply because of nostalgia.
We really do try to avoid nostalgia clouding things (see our Anaheim videos as a pretty good example of that), so we very much appreciate that compliment. Thank you!
Was never a fan of the gradient robo pen jersey when it first appeared, always though that it's a total mess and looked like a combination of at least 5 different designs, I don't mind it quite so much these days though. Never owned one. Ugggh - that reebok sand colour thing would be my choice for the number 1 slot.
The only hockey jersey I own is your least favorite Penguins jersey, I’m honestly kinda proud of myself for having such ass backwards taste in Penguins jerseys.
The first Reverse Retro and it's black counterpart definitely belong. What a flaming pile of garbage those are. Skating penguin is good. But I like the other logo on the most recent Reverse Retro more.
I don’t care what comes next. Bump that 3rd Robopen to one. That jersey is a mess. Unpopular opinion: I don’t mind the Vegas Gold, Piss Yellow, or Khaki, or whatever you want to call it. For some reason, like the muted gold. Also, why’d they have to do the SS that way? I mean, all the life and fun is sucked out of the numbers.
You're not wrong. I just hate to even wear that silly gold jersey. They really did boil all of the fun out of the stadium series and make an awful, bland third. Corporatization is when the Pens go wrong.
Pfft, Pittsburgh had black and gold in the NHL while yinz were still wearing brown. Oh, and nobody in Boston seemed to mind Vancouver going to black, gold, and red two years prior...
@@uglythirds wrong....Pittsburgh, entered the NHL in 1967, well into Bruins black and gold uniforms.....Pittsburgh initially had those baby blue uniforms to begin with.......since they were generating zero intrest because Pittsburgh was Steelers country at the time, they went with the black and yellow to gain local intrest.....the Bruins did protest this at the time, but I believe there were no actual rules regarding this......just lack of imagination....oh and black, gold AND RED is black, gold and red.....not black and gold
Ah, but you forget that Pittsburgh had an NHL team before the Penguins, the Pittsburgh Pirates were founded in 1925 wearing black and gold, before Boston ever claimed the colors. When the Bruins petitioned the NHL to prevent the Penguins from switching colors, the Pens cited the Pirates, and the NHL accepted that argument. And please, there's so little red to the Canucks V jerseys that to claim it's a major difference is silly.
@@uglythirds ok, point taken, the Penguins took it from another team, not the Bruins.......but- Pittsburgh is still little brother- ask anybody what team identifies as black and yellow and they will say Bruins......right, it's silly, but even a small splash of red on a Bruins ( or Penguins) jersey would look bizarre
C'mon now, if you asked someone who is black and gold, they'd say the Steelers first, and then if pressed, I think they'd stick with Pittsburgh. But this might also be a regional thing. Idk, I see your point on red, but with the Penguins using Vegas gold and then khaki for a while without reaction, and Boston changing their gold this year and I've heard no strong opinions...at this point? Maybe they could get away with it. Having just been to Boston last March (and loved it), Pittsburgh is much more little brother to Chicago than Boston, but Yinzers and Massholes are certainly kindred spirits lol
My all time favorite Penguins jersey is the Vegas gold with the sharp angles. The ones that were 3rd jerseys the year Lemieux and Crosby played together.

You hear that, Schrembs? People appreciate my emotions!
Thank you! It's good to have that kind of feedback from a fellow yinzer
Kudos on working the word confluence into the show.
The robopen is an awesome logo, and this is coming from a Caps fan.
Indeed. I never understood the dislike.

Don't forget. The Penguins wore the gold alternate in the playoffs in 2021 when they lost to the Islanders.
I was really, really trying to forget that. But thank you lol

They're both rather ugly, but the stadium series at least has personality

That Robopen jersey looks like it belongs on Max Headroom.
Sponsored by New Coke!

They *were* popular when they were out, but you have plenty of room to upgrade, and I hope you will!

Yeah, well, being a Bruins fan, ive always considered the Penguins lame for not coming up with an original color scheme.........

I agree with you on the black robo pen needing to be on this list
Congrats on 1K Subs.
You are full of so many bad opinions.
