truly a genius and an amazing artist that captured the coolest sounds and turned them into an undying legacy- Thank you Cindy for keeping his light bright!
I lost my brother when he was 24. He reminded me of Ricky Wilson. Just a genuinely good person. One of those people who could pick out the perfect shirt in a thrift store after my hour long search. And just plain fun. Made me proud to be from my family. My brother did not even make it a quarter of a century. Anyone who loves their family knows that there are days you just don't want to live anymore. And everyone else goes on with their life. Some people pay tributes and others, like me, can't. I just don't have that creativity. Maybe this song can also be for my brother, who I loved. Unless you've been through it, you can't possibly imagine what a nightmare it is; all you want to do is see them again.
Lost my sister at 24 as well, two months before my 21st Birthday. That was over 34 years ago. And I still miss her very much. I know exactly what you mean.
Thank you Cindy for the fantastic tribute to your beloved bro. We miss him very much still. Love the song. I had a brother named Ricky too. He died of suicide 13 years ago. I think he would have loved that song. He liked you all and turned me on to you. Thanks for all you do.
The emotion in Cindy's vocal crushes my heart. Death is just stepping into another room. You're still in the same house only the door they've stepped through remains locked - for a time. Then one day, the door opens and you're together again. Wait in peace, Ricky. One day your sister and friends will see you again.
She’s got such an angelic voice (unlike her son). So deep and beautiful I could listen to her all day long. Hopefully Ricky will get to see this in a way or another.
Haunting. Heartbreaking. Cindy not only honors her brother in this exquisite piece, she captures a piece of his spirit in the beautiful tune and lyrics.
I''m a 63 year old gay man who survived a.i.d.s.and thought I had buried bad memories, but when I learned what happened to Ricky Wilson and heard this song I remembered everything, and it still hurts. Crying.
Who would of thought in 2018 Ricky would be still inspiring people like myself when I want to play the guitar I often think of him when I start to play Rock Lobster.. awesome & thanks 🙏
@@TheWaynelds It's a badly typed "Who would have." Sometimes people pronounce it as "Who would've," and it sounds like "would of," but that makes no grammatical sense. Not as if it's a gigantic thing error, but the error really shouldn't be made since it can be confusing.
Doooo Doooo Dooooo-oohoo Dooooo-oohoo I dreamed that Ricky’s walking down the street in a crowd. And I ran after him, yelling his name out loud. I said, Ricky! Where you going? Ricky, where you go-ooo-ing? And he turned around and smiled; and walked ahead. The birds in the trees were silent that day. Things were serious, in a burnt and blackened way. And the streams dried up and the trails seemed to erupt. And the waterfall stops; And the weeping willow trees stop weeping. What do you do? What do you do? Oh, what do you do? He traveled the trail to the sun. His outrageous fun, fun . . . . oh fun. What do you do? Oh oh oooo. What do you do-oo-woo-woo? What can you do? You can’t cry anymore! The sky falls and the mountain lies. Oh, and weep with the rain, on top of the mountain. Oh, What do you do? What do you do? Oh, the burnt sky falls and the trees, they burn down. Doooo, doooo, oooo-oooo Doo doo doo doo do. Doo doo doo doo do. Doooo We jumped off the bridge, And we flew around, And we had a good time. Love you Cindy . . . .
Ricky and Cindy looked like twins, with their big, pretty eyes. Keith was my super crush; but, Ricky has to be one of the best guitarists of modern rock.
Face it much of rock and roll has gone by and the B52's are right at the end of a great era of all kinds of riffs and guitar solos but Ricky's play was like no one else, a unique driving force that even today I am amazed at what he could do to keep up with the girls and push the songs of rock’en roll to everlasting heights. Ever so slightly there is that glimmer on his face, that quick glance that says he is rocking out a song exactly as he would have it and is amazed. (As we all are)
I have to say that Ricky was a genius on the level of Hendrix-an original and an innovator. Nothing like him before or since. Other guitarists work is known note for note. His work is a great unknown and is debated still today. Missing strings and unique tunings-throw in the ground breaking innovation of the band itself and that says it all. Yep a one of a kind...
Do you actually know anything about HENDRIX. This is a tragic story but HENDRIX was a one man GUITAR MACHINE that at any moment could create entire branches of music on shear thought alone. There has NEVER been ANY guitarist to eclipse JIMI ever, and probably never will. This guy played Dick Dale style surf guitar.
Grooving guitar was this dudes calling card with some good songs, but Hendrix level has still never been achieved in our lifetime. If your a musician then you know that most music in the 70s or 80s was derived from guitar virtuoses of the previous generations. This guy played surf guitar with four strings. That is very unique, but no where near the master of all things guitar. Hendrix was so good that even his rhythm leads are legendary. It must be talked about in context.
I had to add that the story of Hendrix reinterpreting Dylans watchtower into the classic we hear today was done in hours not days and on the spot in a studio. Less than 8 hours had passed from the time he tried the song out to completion. There has never been any artist like that in our lifetime.
@@thiosemicarbizidebenzoylal2921 On a technical level, plenty of guitarists "eclipse" Hendrix - he played nothing outside of the very limited pentatonic blues scale and was clueless as to what the likes of Paco de Lucia, Andrés Segovia, Django Reinhardt or Xuefei Yang could do on the instrument. However, I'd agree with you that he was one of the most exciting and original players ever, probably the best, *within the template he chose.* Likewise Ricky Wilson. Totally unique amongst a whole generation of "new wave" musicians, his blending of surf, punk garage thrash and Italian 60s soundtrack kitsch was, in my opinion, easily as brilliant and original as any of the other greats mentioned.
This is a really beautiful song. I was lucky to have seen the B-52s with Ricky in San Francisco for their second record. Cindy was the most radiantly beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life.
I can't believe I had never heard of this before! I almost feel like making one of those lame "I was today years old when..." (but I won't). Absolutely lovely tribute to an amazing musician, sung perfectly by the woman with the most unique voice of all time (and was one of my earliest celebrity crushes).
An underrated guitar player. One of my heroes. AIDS took took too many of our brothers and sisters. The world would be different, for the better, if they lived ♥️
Ricky was an awesoem guitarist. I was very sad to hear 25 years ago that he had passed away from an uncontrollable desease. Ricky I hope you found your bliss in heaven. I'm sure you're still a member on the deadbeat club.
Very Painful and vulnerable heartbreaking tribute to her older brother 💔I'm a man that lost his older sister she was 44 I was 40 from mental health disease in a hospital setting for recovery she was murdered I can really relate to her lifelong sorrow of having such a tragic Loss. In life you never recover from the loss of a sibling and yet feel so powerless we only have the good memories of them to hang onto. Thank you Cindy Wilson for sharing this song ❤️ Peace be with you always and may Ricky's memories always be kept Alive and his excellent contributions to the Band I loved while growing up in the 80s
See You later Ricky...... u have a wonderfull sister she has a Lot of love for You..... always in our hearts..and our memory Thank You Cindy❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

truly a genius and an amazing artist that captured the coolest sounds and turned them into an undying legacy- Thank you Cindy for keeping his light bright!
Ricky was a pioneer and innovator. In his own right. He molded the B-52's to what would be called alternative. He still shines through his music.
Ricky was the best 👏🏼🤙🏼❤️❤️❤️RIP. Love you Cindy♥️🌹
The way he drove that guitar still makes me smile and dance all these years later.

+Rose Breen Your own tribute bespeaks plenty of creativity. Even more memorably, it's authentic, deeply felt, profoundly moving. Thanks.
Richard Zachary thank you for being so kind. You turned a bad day into a great one. That comment meant so much to me.
Thanks for sharing this Rose. I hear ya,
Lost my sister at 24 as well, two months before my 21st Birthday. That was over 34 years ago. And I still miss her very much. I know exactly what you mean.

+Sheila Riley I was thinking the same thing. Mine did the same a long time ago too. Its a shame
Same here
Gods mistake, was not saving Ricky. A beautiful man that lit us all up.
An unsung guitar hero. Only the cool people know.
B-52's ...... most creative band ever.
a really touching song for a really emotional loss, I love this, thank you Cindy you are amazing

I remember Ricky when we was young. He was a squirrel . He took Cindy's man. She wrote Give me back my man. And we danced. Bye Ricky
Oh my goodness...I had no idea this existed. This is so beautiful. Thank you for posting. ♥️♥️♥️
She’s got such an angelic voice (unlike her son). So deep and beautiful I could listen to her all day long.

I loved his riffs and musical style...he really was the heart of the B-52's
This song still haunts me. It's so sad and so heartfelt. Thanks Cindy, God bless, Ricky.

Beautiful song Cindy!! Amazing tribute! Loved Ricky's guitar playing. His and your music will last forever! Peace!
They looked so much alike, Ricky and Cindy.
I miss you Ricky! - Pisces. Loved computers and hot tamales : )
Ricky was our new wave Richard Carpenter. But nicer. And handsomer 😁
Ricky and Cindy looked like twins, with their big, pretty eyes. Keith was my super crush; but, Ricky has to be one of the best guitarists of modern rock.
Thank for this beautful Dedication on Rick Wilson❤
ricky truly was a national treasure ♥️🫶🏻
What a gorgeous singing voice she has in this years later!
Still one of my favourite guitarists of all time, very unique like the whole band.
Beautiful , thanks for sharing your love Cindy . Simply beautiful .

2020 and still a good song 💕

I will definitely agree to that. No disrespect to this man that lost his life to a horrible disease either. Very talented musician in his own right.

Ricky was the sound.
Ricky is missed by so many of us.

bassdoc this isn't about Cindy.
Ricky was one of a kind, through and through. One of the great guitarists, like Hendrix, Paul Geary, John McLaughlin, Jimi Page and Richie Blackmore.
Jimmy not Jimi, damn you people are stupid
It make me cry
My Word this is Beautiful!.......This is the first time I've heard it.
Así con sentimiento qué bella Cindy 😔, excelente grupo B52 por siempre, gracias por tu música y pura vida desde Costa Rica 🇨🇷.

What a beautiful tribute :"(
C'était un groupe atypique, qui avait su trouver un son original, des voix qui se coordonnées parfaitement.
Un groupe unique !!!
