I wouldn't have traded Villardi let alone all 3 players that went to Winnipeg for "PL" Dubois. What a disaster for my Kings.

And a 2nd round pick too

i like Vilardi but he will never be a core player because he will likely never come close to playing a full season. he's great when he plays but you simply can't rely on him being there. the deal was a bunch of valuable but spare pieces for someone with the potential to be a difference maker. if i could do it over again i likely wouldn't have made that deal but it was the right choice to move spare pieces for a that could be great.

Diehard Kings fan Good assessment by the NHL network team! Sadly PLD was and will always be an underachieving waste of talent and I'm being nice about it! I don't care how nice any player is what matters is for 8.5Mill you better deliver at every level period! Kings GM Rob Blake totally destroyed the Kings organization for years to come with the Boneheaded PLD trade and contract the worst trade in Kings history!!!

Fire Blake. That would be a good start.

What the Kings need from an improved Dubois, a new coach, or a new goaltender is someone who gives them some swagger. They've got the pieces to be a real contender but lack confidence and are fragile when things don't go their way. Back when they were winning cups they had Quick making them feel invincible and they were able to handle any adversity. Doughty is good and confident but isn't intense enough to make the rest of the team believe it.

Man they got to fire that guy in the middle

i thought they built a good team, we can blame Blake and Management, but the reality is the players and the coaching staff have to do their job as well. The special teams were just pathetic. The did not change anything up on the kill, they just gave the Oilers way to much room and seemed to be admiring them on the kill

Crosby or Ovechkin need to come to LA & have history repeat itself

I guess, on paper, he should be a good player, but that’s the case for a million players in the AHL. The reality is he’s a mediocre support player. You wanna pay him 4 to 5 mil to get you 25+ goals and 30 assists, but float around the rest of the time, that’s fine. But, 8.5 mil? That’s brutal. If I at least saw a fire/desire/effort in him, I would give him a total pass. He doesn’t seem to have an ounce of leadership in him and I suspect he’s not respected by his teammates. I would think we would have heard some stories by now about he’s a solid guy in the locker room, staying positive and motivating players despite his slumps. Never hear that.

Kings fan here, there is way too much hate on PLD it’s not even funny. The dude went from playing 2C in Winnipeg to 3C in LA playing with rookies for the majority of the year!! His first year with every club has been his worst, people need to chill tf out and let players adapt to new situations. Sure he wasn’t playing 100% at times, but we sure didn’t utilize his skill set 100% either so. Give him one more year before it’s panic time.

I dont blame PLD for not being a star but they over paid him by a long shot. Guys not worth even half of that and putting kings in cap hell for 8 years.

I pretty much agree, but what’s between the ears concerns me. Hockey seems like a means to an end for him based on his interviews. Motivation is a serious issue.

Poor excuse 8.5 million dollar a year players make linemates better and he played with all lines and was demoted go look at the coaches and gm interviews you can find it look at games. He didn't play with 3rd line players all year he absolutely did not. If you keep defending them they will keep putting shit players on the ice

I disagree. He was given every opportunity and, as Jim Fox said, for $8.5 mil, you don’t rely on your line mates to make you better, YOU make your line mates better. Adding urgency to all this is that the Kings need to release him ASAP if they want to minimize their cap hit (though, this will depend on when the playoffs come to an end). Either way PLD and Blake should be on their way out.

Here's the bottom line, look at the point production for all the kings, who are a defense first team. There are a number of kings that should be a point a game...nobody's coming down on Kope...or Moore...or Byfield...or Fiala. Danault is the closest player to PLD, consistently line #2 center...only 7 more points, PLD on 3rd line...more than one position, yet he is the low hanging fruit for dopes looking for a scapegoat for the poor performance by the whole dam team. WAKE UP people, you want defense first expect lower offense, you put a budding star on 3rd line...in different positions.. expect less points. DER!
P.S. the second tier dopes always blame goalies...cause they don't know ANYTHING!!
