Maximus the brits could just stay on that shitty island and kept to themselves instead of trying to spread and control populations across the world. Still have their hands in countries like India, Scotland, the pacific islands and of course Ireland!
@@-MJ_ Oh really? Look up who founded and built Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch in fact every city in New Zealand. It was us British who did that. We came over here because we are a natural explorer and fighting race, that's why we conquered you because we were better at fighting than you. The same argument could be used against Maori, why didn't you stay on this shitty little island instead of sailing off and conquering the Moriori? Because that's what people do, they conquer other people whenever they can, don't be mad just because we were better at conquering and fighting than the maori were.
Maximus hey jit bag...read a book. Polynesians settled there in 1200's followed by Dutch in 1600's. British didn't come in until later. And if you're so good at fighting, than how did a bunch of American colonist rebels kick your asses back across the ocean in 1776?
@@-MJ_ America was Europeans fighting Europeans, it's fair game. Just because maori settled in NZ doesn't mean they built anything, you built grass huts and Pa's and fought with each other and enslaved each other all the time. No need to be so mad just because Europeans are better fighters than Maori. Our homeland was literally on the other side of the world and we still managed to kick your guys ass and conquer your land which we then built a country on.
This song is about the Maori defeating the British at the Battle of Gate Pa in 1864 but How? The Maori learnt early on that guns were effective so bought them from traders, they used double barrelled shot guns at close range from trenches when the British stormed their Pa (fortress) the Maori traditional weapons were also lethal at this range as muskets took too long to reload. The British and Maori had a mutual respect for each other after that battle.
Plus, I recently learned how they were actually great at siege warfare. Setting up trenches, and bunkers that could withstand a British bombardment for hours.
I fucking adore how theyre keeping their language and culture alive with a genre that was also thought to be dying...THAT is metal as fuck and I support it hard

My dad is over 80 years old, but when he was a younger man, he lived in New Zealand in the mid 1950's and late 1960's teaching high school. He learned some Te Reo Maori, and later on, as a math teacher in the US, he would start out each school year with a ground-shaking haka for his students. One of the first things I did when I heard this song was show it to him and my mom. It brought tears to his eyes! He loved that it sounded to him like a traditional Maori haka. Well done @Alien Weaponry!

Just want to mention something. There is no gimmick here. Just three men in t-shirts and shorts, guitars and speakers, screaming their soul out. This is pure rock.
Hey, just wanted to let you guys know...I try to show your videos to everyone I know...you've shown that the Haka is Metal, and it is a fantastic way to pay respect to the Maori culture and show the world. Every time I see somebody react to your songs, I see it energize them...and I see them get every bit as pumped as they would listening to a traditional Haka. I'm not a New Zealander or remotely Maori, just a metal head from Alaska, but I'm very proud of your music...keep up the great work!!!
No english translation needed. This language is a powerful and beautiful one, and it's history is rich with a balance of good and bad. Peace and love from the United States, you absolute legends.
Alien Weaponry ROCKS !!!!!! I missed them when they were recently in New York and am still kicking myself. These young men are extremely talented and bring a high level of sophistication and intelligence to their music.
If this is what you guys can do at your age, I can just envision youre going to be absolute powerhouses with more years of songwriting and playing under your belts. Looking forward to seeing what you guys create! Keep it up, awesome stuff!!
I’m 50 and you boys have bought back memories of growing up in West Auckland , when we were banging to maiden!! Well done ! NZ culture with some good instrument work ... F yeah Kia KAHA !
Well, I have a random reddit person to thank for discovering this band/your music. Damn glad I was introduced to you guys! This is some amazingly wonderfully hard core music, quite nice to listen to! Also, the videos are great, too.
Awesome music! And the fact that the first few words that are sung/spoken a capella, sounds like "Are you fucking with me?!" in my dialect (Scanian Swedish) just makes it that more awesome! =)
This is awesome! It reminds me of sepultura.. very different too.. definitely has its own unique style for sure..these guys r gonna blow up man.. killer stuff..
Metal is metal and the more I listen to non English metal the more i realize this lesson. Hopefully you guys keep it up i would love to hear more from you guys
They seem to honor the Maori people, and to an extent their history... much respect to their craft and what it expresses. I am a new listener, and at 40+yrs old i must say, I was hooked on AW from the 1st song "Kai Tangata". That song must have been on repeat all the way home yesterday. This is such a refreshing but primal raw sound. I have been burnt out on the classics here in the states. Keep up the great work
i can say from seeing it first hand. Māori people are some of the best people to have on your side XD. Amazing culture, beautiful language. and iv Personally done the Haka back in school when i was younger. Never did i think, someone would Put the Māori Language, into Metal music. But, to do that, and have it work as perfectly as Alien Weaponry has, is stunning, and something to be very proud of.
Jesus, these guys are killing it! I somehow love songs in exotic languages I can't understand - and I love metal, so this is just perfect. And it sounds they're really talented!
The fact the Henry and Lewis are brothers is cool within itself cause I like seeing siblings doing something they both love together (FYI Lewis is the Lead Guitar and Henry's the Drummer)

I learned about you guys a few days ago, and I was fuckin' hooked. Singing about your heritage and culture in such a badass way is excellent, and it was a welcome surprise to hear the Maori language incorporated into thrash metal. Just wish I could hear more - some of the songs I can find are blocked here in the US. Keep on thrashing!
This is the Alien Weaponry that brought me to their table. Guys, more of this - it is beyond awesome. No more soft songs for a little while even if they are easier to play live. Keep it NUTS, keep it hard, keep it Maori and stick with it. Worried about some of the more recent material. I’m a huge fan here in the US. This brings something crazy cool to thrash. Stick with the harder stuff. Please please please. The genre needs you guys.
These guys are amazing!! Some of the sickest breakdowns Ive ever heard! I love it! I was always a fan of Sepultura and Soulfly and love the tribal war drum feel of the drums and rhythms and these guys have a similar feel. I dont give a shit if I dont understand the words. The music and the energy is understandable in any language. Its awesome to see the ancient warrior spirit of the Maori reflected in some of the best metal music Ive heard in quite some time. Thank you Alien Weaponry, thank you very much
Now this is what music is and should always be like.good on you guys I can really see you guys going so so far and beyond with your amazing soulful talent
I literally stumbled across these guys an hour ago. They're fucking inspiring, and so young. I know they must get a lot of Sepultura comparisons but they really are their own thing, with all the influences tied in. If these guys stick together with their passion, they will become something insane.
To the band: You are up there with Gojira, Soulfly, Seputura, etc. But you're better standing on the shoulders of giants. My new favorite band. Thank you.
Holy Crap - and they are GOOD and theatrical - and I'm a tough judge - I'm a decent shredder lifelong bands on and off metal head into flamenco andd blues and other stuff too - so - these guys totally just floored me with amazement - just getting young folks together long enough to make a song without having a snowflake blowout in band practice is impressive alone. They were tight on timing, the long pauses were excellent - well done on many levels.

God, the metal genre has anything and everything. It's kind of amazing
Just want to mention something. There is no gimmick here. Just three men in t-shirts and shorts, guitars and speakers, screaming their soul out. This is pure rock.
Metal not Rock
Hey, just wanted to let you guys know...I try to show your videos to everyone I know...you've shown that the Haka is Metal, and it is a fantastic way to pay respect to the Maori culture and show the world. Every time I see somebody react to your songs, I see it energize them...and I see them get every bit as pumped as they would listening to a traditional Haka.
I'm not a New Zealander or remotely Maori, just a metal head from Alaska, but I'm very proud of your music...keep up the great work!!!
Another metal head from Alaska here. Totally agree. These guys are on to something great.
Does anyone else get goosebumps when the beatdown hits or is it just me?
Your not alone brother 🤘🤘
Not just you
Its badass for sure
Same here

No english translation needed. This language is a powerful and beautiful one, and it's history is rich with a balance of good and bad. Peace and love from the United States, you absolute legends.
Totally buying your album when it drops. Te Reo and metal is a combination to be reckoned with!
Agree these guys are onto something very unique that will appeal to a very big range of people!! Well done guys I love it!!
Greg Comfort
...and im 60 next year i asked them if they want a kuia lol...jokes though lol
no you not - sure You are a force to be reckoned with there sis!!
+betty tamihana lol this comment made my day 😂😂😂
Alien Weaponry ROCKS !!!!!! I missed them when they were recently in New York and am still kicking myself. These young men are extremely talented and bring a high level of sophistication and intelligence to their music.
As a New Zealander and long time metal head this song gives me goosebumps!!!
If this is what you guys can do at your age, I can just envision youre going to be absolute powerhouses with more years of songwriting and playing under your belts. Looking forward to seeing what you guys create! Keep it up, awesome stuff!!
Mudvayne Megan Yeah they can be brilliant. But it is not easy make hits.
Seeing what these kids can do at their age imagine what they will produce in 3 to 4 years.
This is how Metallica started...
Auoi! Malo lava! Oka se magaia! Maharo! Te pai ke! I'm so hooked on you guys! Hellur! I don't care to let go! Alofa atu! Heaps of Love!
Holy SHIT, the folk metal enthusiast in me just spasmed. I LOVE this. Spreading this around the Seattle/Tacoma area, you guys are amazing.
Im literally, half the globe away ( U.K.) and l can still feel the power of this band and there skull smashing, real hard bastard warrior culture 😛😛😛😛
That breakdown at 1:04 made me breakdown… I don’t know if I’ll ever be the same again.
I’m 50 and you boys have bought back memories of growing up in West Auckland , when we were banging to maiden!!
Well done ! NZ culture with some good instrument work ... F yeah Kia KAHA !
These Represent Their Maori Roots! We KANAKA MAOLIS Your Cuzzys in Hawai'i Proud of you guys. Mahalo Nui Loa For Doing This In Haka.
Well, I have a random reddit person to thank for discovering this band/your music. Damn glad I was introduced to you guys!
This is some amazingly wonderfully hard core music, quite nice to listen to!
Also, the videos are great, too.
Grab a big pot and put in:
1 Sepaltura
1 Silver Chair
1 Patea Maori Club
Bring to the BOIL!
Cool then serve - DAMN that's GOOD!
Fuck yeah! I got Silverchair vibes as well.
Man you right, I do feel Silverchair. Maybe it’s the vocals or something.
Yes Sep n Silverchair are definitely there
throw in a sprinkling of Blindspott as well - some of the vocal delivery is quite similar on the chorus sections of AW's songs.
@@sourayanbiswas4591 .. Then I'd say they have been Exposed to Silver Chair as kids- really wouldn't surprise me none at all -
I’m not a fan of metal, but this shit slaps. I’m gonna go bench 300lbs to this now
Hell yeah brother
This made me laugh harder than it should haha!
If I ain't lifting I ain't living, get it bro
Woooaaaa!!!You are awesome!!!!😀😀😀Take care!Wish you all the best.Greetings from Poland👊👊👊
Proud to be a kiwi and proud to share your band name !! Fly high boys !!
Awesome music! And the fact that the first few words that are sung/spoken a capella, sounds like "Are you fucking with me?!" in my dialect (Scanian Swedish) just makes it that more awesome! =)
fokker du med mæra
"WHAKARONGO MAI RĀ!" means listen here! In other words, pay attention and don't mistake my intentions.

Cool!👍
Maori is actually a pretty metal language. \m/
Praise you for using this magnificent language and your nation history in your lyrics. Excelent music! From across the world (portugal), greetings.
This is awesome! It reminds me of sepultura.. very different too.. definitely has its own unique style for sure..these guys r gonna blow up man.. killer stuff..
REMINDS ME A LITTLE OF ARTAS AS WELL...CHECK THEM OUT IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY
Metal is metal and the more I listen to non English metal the more i realize this lesson. Hopefully you guys keep it up i would love to hear more from you guys
Killer track ! Crushing drums, razor sharp guitars, deep bass, superb vocals! Mixed together, it delivers so much power. Respect!
Keep up the great work
I might be over thinking your comment, but they are actually in the 3% of people who can speak the language of the Maori people.
@@nilsingvar7319 not only by blood, but its their way of life.
@@ireckless__2391 true
Nils Ingvar both blondes they are brothers
They ARE maori, skin color does not dictate culture. Lets get real.
Three small town kids from rural NZ rocking it.
need more maori lyrics, you guys rock when you sing in maori !!!!
wowww!!
inbelievable !!!! Hail from Morocco🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🤘🤘🤘🤘
Just heard these guys today. Hard to believe there’s only 3 of them and so young- but that’s how it starts.
They definitely know how to rock. Love it!
I did not even know I needed to hear this but I am so glad I did, this stomped on my heart so hard. Guys this is awesome keep it up!!!!!
I am so unbelievably happy that metal is alive and well throughout the world. I may not understand you but I fucking feel you. Keep rocking
i can say from seeing it first hand.
You are so young, but sound so old school... I'm 48 years old, heard a lot of music. You are great, long live to you.
Simply great! ..all these staccatos with different rhythms are GREAT! ..powerful, heavy as hell.
These kids are phenomenal!!!! I am 57 years young and still rock'n. I love metal!!! These guys are GREAT!!!!!
I'm right behind you. I agree.
The fact the Henry and Lewis are brothers is cool within itself cause I like seeing siblings doing something they both love together (FYI Lewis is the Lead Guitar and Henry's the Drummer)
666 dislikes. Apparently the devil ain't happy with how heavy y'all are, it's starting to collapse into Hell itself. Rock on Pacific Pantera! \m/
I just discovered these talented group wow they are so young amazing! I 49 years old and love metal .. Norway metal is da bomb !plesse tour in n Canada Vancouver🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘thank for working so hard it’s paying here .. love f Vancouver bc 🇨🇦🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️
Imagine if they create a metal version of the Haka to start the concerts. The most brutal and tribal mosh pit ever
They sometimes do start their concerts with a Haka. Not a metal one, a traditional one 😊
Honestly I discovered you 2 day ago guys and literally you became my favorite thrash metal band! BIG GRATS FROM BULGARIA
Your elders must be proud of you guys! high five from Latvia!
De la folie ce groupe !! depuis le début je vous suis changez rien ! Metal for ever
Im with this guy👉🏽...ready to see them destroy Chesterfield,Mo with Gojira
These guys are amazing!! Some of the sickest breakdowns Ive ever heard! I love it! I was always a fan of Sepultura and Soulfly and love the tribal war drum feel of the drums and rhythms and these guys have a similar feel. I dont give a shit if I dont understand the words. The music and the energy is understandable in any language. Its awesome to see the ancient warrior spirit of the Maori reflected in some of the best metal music Ive heard in quite some time. Thank you Alien Weaponry, thank you very much
woah! you guys are seriously epic! awesome track guys!
Now this is what music is and should always be like.good on you guys I can really see you guys going so so far and beyond with your amazing soulful talent
There is so much talent in this band, can't wait to see them live again!
Imagine a bigger drum kit? This kid is amazing. These kids are going to be a force to reckon with. Takes me back to the 80s....
Killer riffs 😲😲♥️♥️♥️ , hope this band will be consistent in producing thrashier/groovy metal music.
This gets better every time I listen to it.
Can't wait to see you lads Aussieside!
This is my wake up alarm. These guys are great!
I literally stumbled across these guys an hour ago. They're fucking inspiring, and so young. I know they must get a lot of Sepultura comparisons but they really are their own thing, with all the influences tied in. If these guys stick together with their passion, they will become something insane.
saw them live earlier this year, i will remeber that concert till the day i die. plus the pit was insane!
They were tight on timing, the long pauses were excellent - well done on many levels.
i see a bright future for this young band! all they need now is aggressive soloing
