Austin nailed It 😊 The group started in 2001 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp They won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. They are the only country A Capella ( all vocals no instruments)group but they are honestly do so so much more than just country music they can sing any genre and they do. There is no Lead singer in the group. They each ( except Adam )sing the song and who’s ever voice or voices sound right for the song gets the lead unless is a bass/ baritone song then that’s Tim or Chance.A lot of time they each have a part in the song. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries and are very loyal to the guys. Adam Rupp: Beatboxer Extraordinaire ( 41) can make any sound imaginable (A whole drum kit, harmonica (his Nomonica we call it )plane flyovers, trains, castanets, bugs ,birds etc).Co founder from Mankato Minnesota. Rob Lundquist :Lead tenor(beard and glasses) ( 40 )very soulful voice and master whistler from Minneapolis,Minnesota Tim Foust :Bass (had long dark hair now short with grey ) ( 42 ) 5+ octave range can go so low he blows speakers or sky high from Nederland,Texas Austin.Brown:High Tenor ( Long wavy hair )( 37 ) voice of an angel from Tifton Georgia. Adam Chance(Aka Chance):Baritone/Bass ( 39 ) deep, rich voice(Does the juice harp sound in Man Of Constant Sorrow) has short dark hair short beard from Baldwin County,Alabama.Replaced Chris Rupp ( Adams Brother and co founder in 2016) They have collaborated with many singers and legends Don McLean:American Pie Oak Ridge Boys:Elvira Kenny Rodgers:Children Go Where I Send Thee (Please watch the end message) Billy Gilman:One Voice Alabama:Christmas In Dixie Mark Wills:Don’t Laugh At Me ( important message at the end ) Lee Greenwood & US Airforce Band:God Bless The USA Any many more. They switch leads. They are currently all around 40. Adam the beatboxer, is from Minnesota. He cofounded the group in 2000. Austin is singing lead here. He’s from Georgia. The other tenor, Rob (beard and glasses) is from Minnesota. The other guy with beard and cap, Chance, is the baritone, and is from Alabama. Tim, the bass, is from East Texas.
This was done during COVID lock down so the other guys were shown on monitors and not together in the studio. Any one of them can and do sing lead sometimes paring a couple of them together, however they choose who they think will sound best on a particular song. Everyone new Austin was made for this song and encouraged him to sing it like this. And when he is giving those sultry looks with his eyes at the camera; his then fiance now wife Amberly, was standing there just off camera. Great performance of a great classic and a great reaction from you. Looking forward to your next Home Free adventure.
Adam Rupp does sing and he has a honey sweet tenor voice. He does aa short solo in the all singing no beat boxing How great thou art, Check it out it is beautiful.
There are two lead singers in the group him and the guy with the beard but this was done during Covid. That’s why they’re on the screens are all in different locations.
Gotta get their video in sync with yall bro but yeah Homefree is fire. Seen them live 3 times so far hopefully many more times. Keep checking out their stuff you wont be disappointed. Austin Brown is lead in this one. Their is no lead in the group they all take turns on the lead or share the lead depending on the arrangements they come up with.
Just a suggestion how about playing the song twice when people haven't heard the song we get it all chopped up play it all the way through then play it again and review the second time. Just saying
He can sing so high and so clearly too. His name is actually Austin Brown. All of them can sing. You should check out Rob (their other tenor with the beard and glasses) leading a Boyz to Men classic "End Of The Road"
Home Free has been such a great gift to all of us--especially their extra efforts in providing us with excellent music/videos throughout quarantine and the difficult days of isolation we all dealt with during the pandemic. Their creativity in producing the "quarantine" videos--and their commitment to continuing to provide new entertainment throughout (even though they weren't even in the same state!)--has brought along many HF converts. Got to ❤️❤️❤️ Home Free!! #HomeFree
Given the two videos you have seen, it is understandable that you might think Austin is 'the' lead singer, but this group has 4 lead singers and a world class beatboxer with a lovely voice who prefers to do harmonies when called upon to sing. But the lead goes to whichever voice they think will fit the song best. HF has over 180 official videos - every genre except metal - so far. Well, the opera one is on Austin's solo channel, but it is Austin and Rob. Austin Tim, and Chance all have solo channels as well as their HF work. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
Great reaction! PLEASE do the Butts Medley by Home Free. It’s funny and shows their talent in different genres. Also, their Boys II Men End of the Road cover is SUPER GOOD!
must check out homefree is Go rest high on the mountain, dont laugh at me, brothers in arms. Honestly they are just sooo dang good. Austin is the long haired main singer.
Give their "End of the Road" a try next. It highlights Rob's voice. They really have 4 lead singers and the best beat boxer in the business. This is a great rabbit hole to go down.
Best version of this song I've ever heard. This was done during covid. Austin was singing to his girlfriend who was sitting off camera. She later became his wife.
Of course you noticed this is entirely acapella? Not one instrument, just Adam the beat boxer who can sound like anything. There isn't a set "lead singer" with these guys, it's just who would deal with the song best. The main guy singing here is Austin Brown. He has his own site on-line where he likes to do his favorite oldies. He's wonderful.
Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. Drummers have often commented on just how realistic his sound is. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.
This was doing the covid lockdown. All the guys in the back round were doing their part in make shift studios in their own homes Austin was in a regular studio with his woman Amberly who is now his wife and he was singing to her. God he loves that woman so much.
Home Free are all talented men. Since they’re a cappella they can all sing and all have great voices. Austin (lead here) and Adam (beatboxer) killed it. This was during Covid so I thought the use of tvs was clever. They have a new one out Christmas in LA where Austin and Adam kill it again. 😍😃
This was done during the pandemic, and the one singing is Austin Brown (high tenor, from Georgia), then there's Rob Lundquist (beard & glasses, tenor, from Minnesota), Tim Foust (bass with a 5 octave range from Texas), Adam Chance (known as Chance, beard, baritone but sings bass when Tim sings lead, from Alabama), and Adam Rupp (beatboxer who rarely sings but has a nice tenor voice, from Minnesota). Any videos before 2016, has Chris Rupp (baritone, brother to the beatboxer, left group in 2016, and replaced by Chance). There's no one particular lead singer. They listen to a song and decide who has the right voice for the lead.
Austin Brown is one of the 3 southerners and song writers in the band (he's from south Georgia). I've always loved the late Percy Sledge's original! Austin's (now) wife Amberly was in the studio (that's who he's looking at). This was filmed during Covid (hence the TV screens). They don't have a lead singer - Home Free is also ego-free; whomsoever sounds best singing lead, does so. BTW, they each have channel(s) of their own.
Austin does such an awesome job! His voice is so beautiful, and two reasons for his smile...probably about 95% of the time he smiles, the other 5% is when its a more serious song such as "O Holy Night". The other reason is his girlfriend, (now his wife), Amberly, is standing by the camera.
Guys Home Free has been together for decades now they all can sing lead but this one Austen Brown the high tenor asked his brothers in the group to get his back and they did ,and this was done during the lockdown. Great reaction guys.
"When a Man Loves a Woman" is a song written by Calvin Lewis and Andrew Wright and first recorded by Percy Sledge[1] in 1966 ....Great in its time, I remember it well..
Home Free is the BEST. Their harmonies are unmatched in acapella music. Austin Brown,is his name and his lady Amberly, now his wife (this was recorded during covid, hence why they are separated), as she was just off the set and he was playfully singing this song to her. Check out one of their latest as it's just an amazing song & video, and that is a cover of Hunter Hayes song, "I WANT CRAZY"
OK…AUSTIN BROWN…he’s the lead on this…he does have his own solo channel….being you like his Amazing voice….he’s got some awesome songs (videos) on there. “BRING HIM HOME”… from Les Miserables….he’ll blow your socks off ‼️. There really is no particular lead in this group…it depends on whose voice goes with the song. Austin is the High Tenor…Tim Foust…is the Bass ( but, he’s also got a 5+ Octave Range…..soooo, up to tenor, too ….Yeah, he’s got one crazy range!!! Keep reacting to these Extremely Talented guys …..they have over 300 videos here on RUclips…..and, there are All genres of music……….now, with Christmas….they have so really great ones…&, there are several of their own originals, too ‼️…..”Cold Hard Cash”…..”Warmest Winter”….”Full of Cheer”….”Snowglobe”

so far, though, even though I’ve only started watching a second video and watched one full video that you’ve reacted to so far. I do feel like you’re starting down the Home Fry rabbit hole.
I should also mention when I used to sing in school and such my teachers wanted me to sing tenor, which is the higher male range. That was not comfortable for me I’m more of a baritone. Which is one of the reasons I stopped singing. But yes, my talking voice as well. Also sounds a bit different than my singing voice. I have noticed that though with professional artists.
you know, I barely started watching your reaction so far and somehow I had a feeling you both were going to be incredibly shocked by the start of this cover. Turns out I was right. I loved the way you guys reacted at the very beginning so far since I haven’t finished watching your reaction yet.
Austin Brown, who is doing the lead on this song isn’t the only lead singer. Pretty much all of them have a lead in one song or another and they switch it around. It’s not just one person constantly in the lead or having a solo. For example, they cover of the song Mayday by Cam . In that particular sum, you really get an idea of Tim’s vocal range and he seems to be kind of one of the main leads in that song but of course all of them have solos in that song.
The reason this song is reminiscent of tattooed heart is because Ariana Grande grew up listening to music from the 50s and 60’s and she wanted to record a song as a tribute to the music she grew up with and of course when a man loves a woman is a classic from the 1960s. I absolutely love this version and Austin truly has an amazing voice. .
Never heard of them but dang bro they can sing! That was awesome performance 👏 but the thing between their performance and Percy Sledge was Percy sang it with feeling and it came from his heart. I heard that his woman did that to him in real life that was why the song was such a hit, he was in the blues at that time and sang it how his heart was feeling😢. Brisbane Australia 💜
You're crazy and don't understand music if you believe that. I do like Homefree's A cappella style, but vocal wise, he doesn't even come close...this whole rendition is rather monotone--not much of a streach in vocal range. He also pretty much stole the whole arrangement from Michael Boltons rendition. Austin's voice is nice, but it's best with combined with the high's, lows and midrange that his fellow group members help provide in most songs. Alone it becomes a bit boring for my taste.
They really don’t have a bad song or cover. It is said the elevate every song they cover. And this is just scratched surface.

The reason this song is reminiscent of tattooed heart is because Ariana Grande grew up listening to music from the 50s and 60’s and she wanted to record a song as a tribute to the music she grew up with and of course when a man loves a woman is a classic from the 1960s.

A pandemic video. Austin did a good job, but it doesn't hold a candle to Michael Bolton's rendition.
Sorry, Micheal Bolton doesn't hold a candle to HF or original recording, IMHO!
