My favorite thing about your channel is when you're camping I hear the sound of camping. I hear the fire the wind the rain or snow. So many channels add music and distract from the sound of nature. Thank you for not doing that!

Evidently Monti has no problem eating. I had to have so much food chopped up for me growing up since my overbite didn't allow me to eat much that required biting. Like corn on the cob. Forget about it. My parents didn't have money for braces. I was 30 yr old before my teeth were pushed into my mouth where they belonged. wow!!
12 reasons Monty gets excited to go camping. He don't have to compete with Rueger to get the stick. He gets more one on one attention. He gets to dine with you at ground level with him. He gets bigger portions of food. He gets more pats. He gets more kisses. He gets to sit in your lap without Rueger trying to jump up. He gets more face to face talking so he feels more human. He gets to be chauffeured in a canoe. He gets more fish than Rueger. He gets to sleep with you. He gets that "I am special" feeling when daddy tucks him into bed at night. :)

What method did you use train Monte. Was it just positive reinforcement and love. Was there any discipline we're tough love required? Monty is one of the best trained dogs I've ever seen he was going into the shelter but he had too much snow on them and all you said was whoa and he stopped right in his tracks. That is a beautiful thing the witness thank you for your videos

This highly rated Bushcraft shelter is my favorite this year. Why, I think it’s a shelter I could build, fast, fairly easy (for Matt at least) with very good protection from snow and wind.
45:06 The shots you make when working are always really well done. Your eye for settings and distance make the videos so much more of an experience. (and no drones) This shot of you, alone and sawing, really brings the magnitude of nature through a medium where it can be easily lost. I think everyone has tried to take pictures of a sunset and it never really conveys the vastness of it all. If you know what I mean. I also really liked a vid that pauses in the middle to just show the fire burning. It was a very thoughtful, calm moment that really stood out to me. I'll keep looking for it. Then you scolded him he would be grounded ..That's where you caught me of guard with your humor. lmao I actually chocked on my coffee I was so nicely sipping on only a few seconds earlier. My adult daughter whom I live with came running into my room and said "mom you ok" All nervous for my well being. Matt.. all I could do was point to my computer as I couldn't stop my coughing yet. Once she saw you and Monty on my screen she says "Oh your Matt guy again?" with a big grin on her face. Just at that moment we both saw you pick up Monty and start marching with him in your arms. Matt , when you need to melt snow faster, try melting or boiling only 2 inches worth of water first in the pot. Then slowly add more snow to the hot water!

@@lourdesm.velandia-calderon3486 any proof of that? afaik aluminium works great to cook in but not acidic stuff like tomatoes because research has shown that it makes tons of more aluminium than otherwise leak out into what we eat. but thats for cookware where the stove is in direct contact with the acidic stuff, idk about foil over it all or even lids. also im not an expert in anyway but i guess that if the body works as it should do, then the bad stuff like excess aluminium will go out trough the waste system

You really need a lid for your stew pot. The potatoes and carrots will cook faster and no embers in the stew.
Or a bit of aluminum foil would work too.

@Donny Musto good point! Didn't catch that one. The lid would definately help but I don't care for the aluminum foil because it leaks aluminum into the food.
He doesn't mind he Seasons his stew with Monte's dookie remember? My guess is he'll eat anything LOL. But you're right about the lid it would help.
@@lourdesm.velandia-calderon3486 any proof of that? afaik aluminium works great to cook in but not acidic stuff like tomatoes because research has shown that it makes tons of more aluminium than otherwise leak out into what we eat. but thats for cookware where the stove is in direct contact with the acidic stuff, idk about foil over it all or even lids.
also im not an expert in anyway but i guess that if the body works as it should do, then the bad stuff like excess aluminium will go out trough the waste system
