24:58 - Well, I think the Toyota's take, that is the four cylinders and a electric motor combo, will make up for Ford's V6 Twin-Turbo - at least in terms of the off-road capabilities. They (at Toyota) must have a solid rationale behind (or pressure from above) not to put an X-Runner's V6 in the TRD Pro.
Toyota doesn't have an engine to put in the Tacoma that is competitive with the 2.7L EcoBoost let alone this 3.0L Raptor EcoBoost. As for off-road ability, the engine is the least important part of the equation unless you are doing dunes or desert running. Slow trails with mud, climbs, rock crawl, off-camber...all you need is an engine with adequate power and torque...which all of these trucks have. A hybrid engine does nothing for off-road other than add weight.
So what happens when you are taxing the power train hard? If you know anything about EVs that tiny 1.87 kwh will not last than you will be left with a turbo 4 banger to carry you. Not even close. The hybrid system is designed for bursts of capability that look good on paper but that performance will only be sustained as long as there's charge on the battery. The turbo 6 will deliver the power until the fuel tank is empty.

I must say the Raptor Family is not complete. The Maverick needs to go to desert school. That will get people to pay near $50,000 for Maverick. The Maverick is actually lightish and small enough to toss around. If Ford engineers secretly ran a team in the JeepSpeed racing series they would learn everything they need to know about unibody offroading. The fwd is a bit of a handicap but it could just as easily be a strength given how much of a flat belly it has just needs a modified engine cradle and suspension arms. Gm & toyota gotta up the game
Agreed. Big mistake on both of them for putting turbo 4s in their midsize trucks instead of a V6 like the Ranger Raptor. That V6 will have better power delivery and will outlive any turbo 4.
@@brianmola711what's to say that this TWIN TURBO v6 will live as long as a turbo 4? I don't think you realize how good turbo engines are nowadays. I've driven turbo cars for most of my driving life, and the evolution of how turbo cars drive is amazing.
Great preview/review! Thanks for sharing! Have you lost weight? 👍
Yes I have
ZR2 Bison all the way. Let's see this rig on the California course the bison was on. No comparison with its crappy little screen and substandard interior. But thank you for your review.
I am very frustrated with my ZR2. Interior, transmission and rear end.
two many doors, give us a two door!
Ford's off road products are unparalleled when it comes to high speed, baja style driving.
What was Ford thinking by not having auto 4wd on the none Raptor Rangers. Tired of spinning wheels going up a wet asphalt hill. Colorado and Canyons have it since 2017
I think new Ranger Raptor have auto 4wd. The one that does not have are the Lariat and the lower models.
@@virgfresco1403Yes the Raptor's have it, as I said None Raptor's even my Ford Dealer could not figure out why they did not have it in the other trucks like GM does
Most reliable truck in the country
Ranger raptor or tacoma trd pro?
The Tacoma is fugly
I’m still not seeing anything I like out there ! I own a 2021 TRX and since my purchase I’m never selling .
Im going to reserve judgement. Ill give GM some credit here. They let people test their new trucks in the wild on some serious off road courses. Not just prepped courses. Toyota did the same thing as this. I want to see it put though some shit.
@Truck King: Is the Ranger Raptor at $57k USD a better value than a base F-150 Raptor at $79k USD?
I think the Ranger Tremor has a lot of the chops but much lower prices.
Unfortunately, it was discontinued. The F-150 Tremor is the most capable truck in Ford's line-up.
The 4th Gen TRD Pro just looks so much nicer than this one with its tacky graphics and boring styling. I really like the full size raptors, but the Rangers styling is too vanilla for me.
4th gen Tacoma is insanely overpriced.
They should make a ranger raptor R, with the 5.0 on it
It looks so much like a rangers?
Great review looks like you had a lot of fun.
See how it does for quality after the first year.
I never buy 1st year.
I would consider one, but nuts dealers here in mass asking crazy money over msrp. No thx ford. By the way great review of 5his truck.
If only I could afford one 😭
Great truck but insainly and scandalously priced especially with no hood struts, rear vents nor a decent warranty coupled with ridiculous markups from over ambitious dealers and $60k turns into $80k easy for basically no real options and no reliability record. Mind you this is a baby truck and not even a light duty 1/2 ton and these prices are like getting a 1 ton dually with more options, configurations, capabilities and power and I can make money hotshoting with it if times get tough and I can't afford my $1200 monthly payments with a ridiculously high interest rate with excellent credit. People are really going to feel it when their in massive debt and can't afford the basic cost of living regardless of their employment because of their poor decisions and YOLO mentality. But I guess those types of people don't care and hence the impending outcome ✌🏽❤️
How hard is it to get in and out? Could a 68 old wife do it?
It has running boards and a grab handle, probably a bit easier to get into than an F150 if I had to guess...
67 yes. 68 no.
Since Ford let you jump it at their event does that mean that type of activity is covered under warranty lol
No. Never tell a dealship you've been off a registered road.
80k for ANYTHING midsized is INSANE. I'd never touch that thing.
It is 80K Canadian. 57K USD.
57k in America. Sorry u live in socialist Marxist country
You will not get this at $57k after markups minimum will be $65k unless you have a RUclips channel then you might get one at msrp
@@Ctb1998 probably true just like the trd pro. So sad
@@Ctb1998yeah if it sold for 50 I’d get one even 57 sounds like too much for me
