    My brother-in-law has an F150 with a V6 Ecoboost he's owned since new (completely stock) and he's had nothing but problems with it. Timing chain or timing chain cover issues twice now and other items. Each time it has been a $1,200+ repair (after warranty). I also owned a 2005 Powerstroke F350 I bought new in 2005 which had several expensive engine issues over the 10 years I owned it (again, completely stock truck). Has Ford got their act together on their engines yet or are they still ticking time-bombs? My Powerstroke was the absolute worst vehicle my family has ever owned. We were involved in the class action suit against Ford and it didn't pay for 1/3 of what I paid out of pocket in repairs for that thing.

    24:58 - Well, I think the Toyota's take, that is the four cylinders and a electric motor combo, will make up for Ford's V6 Twin-Turbo - at least in terms of the off-road capabilities. Toyota doesn't have an engine to put in the Tacoma that is competitive with the 2.7L EcoBoost let alone this 3.0L Raptor EcoBoost. As for off-road ability, the engine is the least important part of the equation unless you are doing dunes or desert running. Slow trails with mud, climbs, rock crawl, off-camber...all you need is an engine with adequate power and torque...which all of these trucks have. A hybrid engine does nothing for off-road other than add weight.

    • @marklihsu
      @marklihsu 8 месяцев назад +3

      So what happens when you are taxing the power train hard? If you know anything about EVs that tiny 1.87 kwh will not last than you will be left with a turbo 4 banger to carry you. Not even close. The hybrid system is designed for bursts of capability that look good on paper but that performance will only be sustained as long as there's charge on the battery. The turbo 6 will deliver the power until the fuel tank is empty.

    This truck is very cool but I feel like its about 10k out of reach. I cant imagine what the dealer markup will be on these as well lol. Top that off with a huge insurance premium and this truck is out of reach for the average person. If I got a 20k/year raise then I would get one haha.

    No ventilated seats on a 65k+ Ford Raptor Truck, while cheaper Toyota Tacoma 2024, Colorado 2024 both have it is a huge short coming... As someone who lives in Florida this is a big miss from Ford

    • @marklihsu
      @marklihsu 8 месяцев назад

      True. Hopefully they will fix that in the upcoming iterations and you can retrofit your raptor. Don't have ventilated seats in my maverick but I do have it on remote start during the summer and that cold AC blasting against the seats cools it down in a hurry. Usually by the time I get in the seats and cabin are nice and frosty in the so.cal summer

  • @74MaverickMan
    @74MaverickMan 8 месяцев назад

    I must say the Raptor Family is not complete. The Maverick needs to go to desert school. That will get people to pay near $50,000 for Maverick. The Maverick is actually lightish and small enough to toss around. If Ford engineers secretly ran a team in the JeepSpeed racing series they would learn everything they need to know about unibody offroading. The fwd is a bit of a handicap but it could just as easily be a strength given how much of a flat belly it has just needs a modified engine cradle and suspension arms. A few inches of width will buy a lot of front travel. The IRS is already a great design for control and just needs more travel.

      Agreed. Big mistake on both of them for putting turbo 4s in their midsize trucks instead of a V6 like the Ranger Raptor. That V6 will have better power delivery and will outlive any turbo 4.

      @@brianmola711what's to say that this TWIN TURBO v6 will live as long as a turbo 4? I don't think you realize how good turbo engines are nowadays. I've driven turbo cars for most of my driving life, and the evolution of how turbo cars drive is amazing.

    Great truck but insainly and scandalously priced especially with no hood struts, rear vents nor a decent warranty coupled with ridiculous markups from over ambitious dealers and $60k turns into $80k easy for basically no real options and no reliability record. Mind you this is a baby truck and not even a light duty 1/2 ton and these prices are like getting a 1 ton dually with more options, configurations, capabilities and power and I can make money hotshoting with it if times get tough and I can't afford my $1200 monthly payments with a ridiculously high interest rate with excellent credit. People are really going to feel it when their in massive debt and can't afford the basic cost of living regardless of their employment because of their poor decisions and YOLO mentality. But I guess those types of people don't care and hence the impending outcome ✌🏽❤️
