  • After renunciation Buddha reached the Vulture peak near Rajgriha. He spent some time with the ascetics of vulture peak, and then he went to Vaishali to the renowned ascetic and teacher of his time, Alara Kalama. Alara Kalama led a strict monastic life with his 300 disciples.

Wow, that is awesome, so this was apart of Gautama siddarthas Sadhana. Incredible. Thank you, so he basically was a man of constant travel and learning, I was starting to think Gautama was a mere philosopher like Lao tzu and Confucius who had stream flow rhythms to follow, a path that leads to check points with philosophy that is well tangible. But still leaves the questions of the higher causes and powers that we can tap into, which is the barrier we seem to be stuck in, Gautama was according to this story of Alara Kalama and Uddaka Ramaputta, both wise men who taught Gautama some insights of meditation, nothingness, as he states, is a good meditation, but doesn’t offer any given paths.
Gautama was on a mission, and once he got insight from his own teachers, Gurus, Adiyogis and other Buddhas, he managed to cultivate and utilize them to move forward, what separates Gautama from most, was in the samayutta Nikaya aka the connection discourses, Gautama Buddha wanted not mere philosophies to conduct oneself, but an enlightenment of higher powers, which he managed to do, mentioned in the samayutta, he kept seeking, and he met various Gods, like Shiva, Sakka, Brahma and others, they told him the importance of Diligence over negligence, that time was essential not to waste and use it wisely, construct it, and reap from it.
That is incredible, people say Buddha only turned inward to find self independence, which doesn’t seem so when you see he consulted with many deities and evil forces, utilizing Nibbanna he mediated on what was important, tangled with Mara, and liberated himself from frivolous and trapping elements and kept going with a firm conviction and conscience.
This is not possible with a athiest or pragmatic mind way of thinking, Gautama was very practical, and yet full of mysticism, that is truly incredible that he held that modem, this can only come with worship, prayer, homage and tribute to the higher powers.
Thank you brethren for the awesome story, and well illustrated works.
Namaste from your Christian brothers. 🙏

His teacher name was Udakka Ramputta which clearly burst the myth that during buddhas time no one knows Ram. Sri ram's name was very common even earlier than buddha

Based on what I heard in Bodhgaya from a Govt guide, Siddhartha attained the enlightenment on the 7th day under the Bodhi tree. He also spent the next 6 weeks in the same place contemplating on various things and mediating further. Btw, I am not sure if he spent 6 years after attaining the state of ‘neither perception nor non-perception’ before attaining the final enlightenment. He left the palace at the age of 29 and attained enlightenment at the age of 35, for sure.

I can't understand why The Enlightened One's last meal was poisoned pork and not luscious fruits?
Poisoned pork is very low and worldly.
That is if that is true information.

If it was luscious fruits, he would have lived on, and thus it would not have been his last meal.
His Prarabdha Karma ( which is the store of Karma intended to fructify during a current life) was getting over, and he had to depart, even from a healthy body. So it came about that, TIME achieved its goal ( end of his earthly sojourn), through the garb of poisoned pork.

@@ramakrishnanpanchapakesan299, This really doesn't make sense to me.
The Enlightened One conquers all, he/she will not leave this Earthly plane in such lowly pain.
Their high state virtually blends with The Beauty in their next realm.
Poisoned by pork of all things.
