G'day mate from NZ, I have 2 permanent camps in my local forest, I have had them set up for nigh on 10 years. I have saws, axes, knives etc, and they have never been touched. My local forest is 80ks long X 30ks wide and rises to 1600metres, you can go for months without seeing anybody. I have sensor solar lights set up (keeps the pigs, goats and deer away). I even have a portable Gazebo set up at one camp, had to carry it up through dense bush to500metres. This is great for rainy days, can sit under it and not feel closed in. Because of the isolation, I can leave buckets of food etc and not have to worry about it. I even have trail cameras set up to see what local animals are in the area. Just thought that I would share that with you, Enjoyed your video. ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ ☺☺
Nice one Cully, that's awesome! Yeah, the lack of land in the uk 🇬🇧 that's not owned or otherwise trying to be developed or poached.. Is quite small, although some real beautiful hidden treasures around the British isles, from forests to country parks and so on... But nothing quite on the scale of beauty and escapism of NZ, all is good tho man, thanks for watching and commenting.. Stay tuned for more along the way. (we've not long started the youtube, but been Nomads for donkeys, so we thought why not try to inspire some people whilst showing our day to day right. HAPPY HOPPING CULLY 👌🏼 👍🏼
I had a breakdown and needed to get away from it all. I worked out how to put a canopy over a two seater kayak so I could sleep on the water in the kayak. Carrying your stuff is easy and with a water filter water is not a problem. Security is less of an issue to because you don’t moor up where people can stumble upon you. Plus I kept moving regularly. I lived out of it for six weeks so I’m a lightweight in comparison to you guys.
When I was in the cadets we didn't have a ground sheet for are tents so we dug a small trench around the base of the tent with 1 end running down hill to direct the water away from the tent it worked very well
Thanks for the post 💚 I was homeless at about 19 years old. I've always been 1 step away from homelessness and this video has given me ideas for what to do if I did become homeless.
@WorldSurvivalist absolutely, we've tried alsorts and not afraid to use new stuff and put it all to the test lol. Thanks for this video. Thats a good insight to just how much the ground part of the tent can perish over time. Have you thought about bivvy bags for your sleeping bags? Ive always used them whenever staying in a tent for a night or a few nights, its abit of added water protection plus added warmth in the winter. Keeps the cold wind off.
@@williamjones8295 sadly bivvy bags can condensate far too quickly with the heat we already emmit with 2 humans and pooch.. Never has been necessary for us. However, yes... Bivvy bags are awesome for low profile (without a tent) for the part time wild camper but not the Nomads 😁.. Also weight although small from a bivvy, and just more to go wrong, we stay fine and dry, warm n cosy. We've been at it for donkeys and many winters, but nevertheless a good piece of advice. Hi guys just subbed, I do lot of bushcraft survival camping not full time but sometimes wish I could for the simple life anyway how do you get on in winter with the cutdown mats and 3 seasons bags are they enough? And what part of the country you in, the videos seem to be similar areas thx and look forward to more👍
@@Nofixedabode859 thanks Cully 👍🏼 yeah, good obs on the mats (first one to point it out 👌🏼) yeah, cut down is fine as the torso is core to keep warm and never really suffered cold legs in over 10yrs, but the bags much the same... Throughout spring, sum, aut, they can be a little too warm, however in winter they do the job just fine.. It's winter, we're supposed to feel the elements right? Good for the blood and circulation.. Tara came back with Spanish blood when beast of the east came, and although she's a champ... She stressed the importance of thicker blood for certain climates and environment, but came out beating her chest nonetheless. Something most may overlook especially when winter arrives. Would it not be more comfortable in Winter to build a bender with a tarp, then you could make a hobo stove from an old paint tin with cans joined together as a stove pipe. For heat in Winter and less damp.
I was going to ask about the tent as something that's light enough to carry but robust enough to survive full-time living has got to be worth it's weight in gold. What would be your main tools around camp? Standard bushcraft type loud out or different?
@feralyamyam please just watch the videos and your questions will be answered e.g. bag reveal, winter load out.
