Amateur Sleuths Think They’ve Found CIA Black-Site Clues At A North Carolina Airport (HBO)

- A small group of people in Johnston County NC are investigating their state’s role in the CIA's torture and rendition program. Last fall, they had a series of public hearings on the subject and on May 7th they're planning to meet with their commissioners in an effort to compel their county's very conservative board of commissioners to issue a ban on the use of public resources for rendition or torture, and to publicly acknowledge what they found: that a CIA contractor called Aero operating out of the local county airport, handled some 80% of rendition flights between September 2001 and March 2004.

Its on public record that Aero Contractors LTD was/is contracted out by the federal government but it would have been nice to at least mention how they think they are tied to the CIA.

Yup, I'm sure that is happening without national media attention. They don't have any control over what happens nor do I believe the CIA gives any of them such information as it would cause much greater outrage and would have a lot more substantial evidence behind their claims. Not saying torture is right, but all I am trying to say is that they are chasing something without much proper evidence, and they evidence they provided wasn't on a local level, but a nation wide level( With the evidence being their claim that 80% of Aero Contractors flights from 2001 to 2004 were revolved around captives on on their way to be tortured, which was considered "dark times" for america and torturing due to 9/11)

You have to admit, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. lol.
While I support what they're doing, and it's absolutely necessary for the good of our democracy...they're not going to get anywhere on the local level. They're surrounded by hillbillies who probably overwhelmingly support torture of people who have been "detained" for sketchy (at best) reasons in foreign countries. The details of this program need to be more widely publicized and people need to be forced to answer for it. Unfortunately, for the most part, our media has very little interest in demanding answers of political leaders. Politicians who refuse to answer difficult questions are simply given a pass and asked softball questions.
They really expect the government to investigate itself, and come back and say "yes, our investigation shows we are in fact rendering people to your county airport?" I appreciate their shining a light on this but the level of naivete is funny.
@Jonny-5 thing is, there is a lot of 'government', it isn't one monolithic top down organization but instead a complex collection of different institutions and factions. These particular activists are trying to leverage their local faction to investigate something within their territory.
their appeal to a moral obligation won't do it. Have they done FOIA requests to demonstrate improprieties? Do they really have evidence? Or is it all innuendo? I'm not denying their allegation...just the info presented here and their method of attack. Neither of which is very deep...IMHO.

Not familiar with the specific case(s) here but the rendition flights were first an observation by plane spotters (people who basically use radio signals of the planes transponder to check for unscheduled planes and then ideally take a pictures of it - some trainspotting hobby next level) if they get picked up several times along the way you can pretty much figure the route, since transponders are necessary for collision avoidance they are essentially never turned off (if you were to turn off the transponder and some airforce gets you on radar you have jet company ASAP). And with the review of the interrogation program those observations and allegations were sort of validated but not admitted (as far as I remember).

John Doe...do you even know what FOIA is used for? You can't google everything knucklehead. What's your background? Your comment seems like you have little experience doing investigative work...but I don't know for sure. Any good reporting would have presented actual data supporting allegations. There was no indication any investigation has really been done on this...or is Vice just incompetent.
I do realize all that...where were the pictures of these spook planes? IF these ladies have been at this for so long, where is some sort of evidence?
Is it just that the company, who has been linked to the CIA...is landing at their airport and that's not acceptable to them?
Like I said, I'm not denying them...I just question the info presented here, which does not demonstrate much more than "there is a chance...". The local government looks exhausted hearing about the same complaints. It would have been nice to see a bunch of letters written to a ton of politicians over the last 10 years these people believe have believed the CIA is operating at their airport.

Well even with the government acknowledging programs existence¹. Any FOIA will blackout whatever could possible be traced to individuals (protection of international prosecution, sanctions and/or preventing revenge) so the best you will get is that someone at some level approved at some time some company to use some airport into the state as base for some flights. Its far from good source but the links in this article are essentially the collection of credible source I found to this airport² (some law school professor, some public accounts etc. but all in the range of circumstantial evidence).

It brings money to local contractors and in turn at least some of it will end up in the local economy. They are not going to investigate, they have no interest in doing so.

Well, DELTA force and the Air Force's tier 1 unit, the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, is based less than an hour from there, there is also a CIA training facility 2 hours from there and DEVGRU is only 3 hours away so the location would make sense. It is placed almost right in between Fort Bragg/Pope Field and Virginia Beach.
I think something "fishy" was going on at the Asheville, NC airport also. Trump lied about flying out of there to Russia, and his plane actually did, he just wasn't on board. So, where was he? These guys are onto something or Vice wouldn't be interviewing them. Good for them. i lived in Wake County for a while and this little airport is very close to Raleigh-Durham Airport..very close. They just happen to be divided by the county lines and not much more. Last time I was there, it was a lot of rural nothingness, even though it boomed during the private tobacco growing days. This woman in the video towards the end acknowledg'd herself as the United States citizen which I used to use a lot until I really looked into the law books the definitions of United States citizen is just a slave to United States corporation and which was founded based upon the bankruptcy of the United States back in 1933.
