Hahahaha so funny. At work reviewing a technique in my copy of Tropical Standard and this pops up. Another great episode! Swap in some banana on the piña side and you have a lava flow!
I love my rum but we take it far to serious I had to scroll back quite a way in phone photos. I made this on 21.2.22 🤯. Stunning looking drink my friends thought it was ace
I just ordered xanthen gum ill make it this weekend I don't have any Mexican rum...what would you suggest for an alternative thanks again for a great video
These more flavorful or intense rums get really knocked down in frozen drinks. An Agricole or cachaca would be the best easy to find sub but they’d be significantly different. Something higher proof also helps in these frozen drinks.
I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I just wanna say that I love your work! I made your version of the Jungle Bird and it was suuuuper delicious. I appreciate your effort and enjoy watching your videos. :D
love this and will make it for sure. heard it mentioned on the cocktail college podcast today. and the kicker is i’m on a train to nyc as i write this and will be drinking in sunken harbor tomorrow!
I LOVE that you made this drink lmao recently had a customer come in to the dive bar I work at and order one. Told him I couldn't make either of those let alone blend them to make a Miami vice! Not a dive bar drink lol
While the flavor for the rum is important, the proof here is also important. Since we’re talking about strawberry and pineapple I’d just prioritize what you like that’s close in proof to these.
In diving deeper this AM into the Lava Flow there are a bunch of recipes. Some Pina colada + strawberry daiquiri, some Pina colada + strawberry puree, some Pina colada + strawberry + banana.
Just made the strawberry daiquiri from tropical standard! What do you think of the Uruapan? I'm still not fully used to the flavor of cane juice spirits so it still has a bit of a foreign flavor to me!
Gonna be trying this one out for sure. Just bought a bottle of Ibis but still looking for the Charanda Blanco. I'll post the picture in the discord once I get around to it. Think Paranubes would work?
I didn’t realize the technicality until recently, but the lava flow would be a Pina colada with strawberry syrup instead of strawberry daiquiri. I’m thinking a lava flow video will be in order for this summer!
Looking into this a little more as we speak and theres some recipes that call for banana as well. Will have to dig deeper. I used to always think Miami Vice and Lava Flow were the same, and I'd bet that you could find places that used the names interchanagbly. Not the most regulated set of cocktails.
Hello nice video bit the music during preparation is too high Im not english speaking and cant understand. Consider that not everybody have the same taste of music,
This is exactly what the industry needs. Well made drinks that recall that greatness and kitsch of the 80s. Thank you!
that production value ❤
The quality is INSANE for a smaller channel. Really cool to see someone just putting effort into a cool thing
Thank you both!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the story telling here... i usually skip through that part.. but I had to watch .. fantastic !!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The guy loses a video interview about rum keg and turns this into an editing technique lol
I’m just in the intro and already in love with the production on this one 😎
🤤👍 BEAUTIFUL DRINK! Thank you.
amaizing cocktail this is what i need for the summer¡¡ i Hope for more cocktails to come¡
this is an amazing drink , for sure one of my favorites !! thanks for awesome content
I've made both of these, but have never combined them. Genius! Thank you!
You won't regret it

If I hadn't been on holiday then, I would pick the Miami F1 Grand Prix to make this inviting frankenstein
This video was sick!
Thank you!
Thank you!! ❤❤
Thank you!
Probably gonna make my Pina Colada and drink it before making the Daikiri
I love my rum but we take it far to serious I had to scroll back quite a way in phone photos. I made this on 21.2.22 🤯. Stunning looking drink my friends thought it was ace
"A fair level of absurdity with this one" 😂😂😂
Always!
Fuck this drink! Two blenders, one drink. One goes out, tens come back.
WHERE do you find these newspaper clips?
I happen to have a DeLorean that goes 88 mph
If I want to make non alcoholic for the kids, should I substitute equal volume of fruit juice for the rum?
I’d probably increase fruit juice and coconut mix
I just ordered xanthen gum ill make it this weekend I don't have any Mexican rum...what would you suggest for an alternative thanks again for a great video
Basically impossible to get the same flavor, but it’s pretty similar to a rhum agricole.
These more flavorful or intense rums get really knocked down in frozen drinks. An Agricole or cachaca would be the best easy to find sub but they’d be significantly different. Something higher proof also helps in these frozen drinks.
Miami Vice cleared my last Bar’s debts.
Nothing but love here.
This channel will grow lika a motherpucker. Such quality.

Lucky guy!
Made the pina colada already and everyone tells me it’s the best pina colada they’ve ever had. Will be making this combo for sure!
I LOVE that you made this drink lmao recently had a customer come in to the dive bar I work at and order one. Told him I couldn't make either of those let alone blend them to make a Miami vice! Not a dive bar drink lol
This brings back memories. Had the Miami Vice at a hotel bar on Vanderbilt Beach in Florida 30+ years ago!
What are some rum substitutes? I don’t have any of these mentioned…
While the flavor for the rum is important, the proof here is also important. Since we’re talking about strawberry and pineapple I’d just prioritize what you like that’s close in proof to these.
I always knew this drink as the lava flow. Miami vice seems a lot cooler

Could you please say where you got that shirt? It's amazing!
It's from Volcom
Just made the strawberry daiquiri from tropical standard! What do you think of the Uruapan? I'm still not fully used to the flavor of cane juice spirits so it still has a bit of a foreign flavor to me!
I haven’t used it much but I like it. Sometime soon I’ll do a video on the Mexican rums I have to compare them.
8 different drinks can be made with a 3 hopper slushy machine
Name them.
I’m def breaking this out Memorial Day weekend
Let’s go!!!
Gonna be trying this one out for sure. Just bought a bottle of Ibis but still looking for the Charanda Blanco. I'll post the picture in the discord once I get around to it.
Think Paranubes would work?
I e been wondering this too since I only have Paranubes. Also, any recs for a sub for the Scarlet Ibis?
@@FlyingSwordfish Angostura 7 will work
I remember this drink from the '90s in Hawaii, where it was called the "Lava Flow".
I didn’t realize the technicality until recently, but the lava flow would be a Pina colada with strawberry syrup instead of strawberry daiquiri.

@@makeanddrink wow! I had no idea. Thanks for setting me straight! 👍
