    Oh, and since you asked, I think you want that condition to be that the door has been closed for the last hour. You can see an example on the ha condition page in the state section. Basically, it has been finished for 1 hour and the door hasn’t been opened in that time.

    If you're running solar panels, run the dishwasher in peak output times. Yes you can set timer before you leave work but I forget to run DW and the weather can change. Just a thought for others

      That's exactly what I use a switchbot on my 23yo Meile dishwasher. Once I have more than 2000W excess, it gives us a 25mins warning it's going to start (over google speakers) then off it goes by itself.

    Hi, one suggestion to use HA with the dishwasher could be to "remote start" the washer when elecricity prices are at the lowest price. Thought to trigger it with the sensor of the trigger "Remote start on" and then maybe use "nordpool" integration (sweden) to use lowest price in a "magical" way 🙂

    The way to solve the door issue is to go with your original idea of a timer. When the dishwasher state trigger is fired, start a timer for your chosen duration. Then a second automation is needed to cancel the timer if the door is opened and the timer is still active. Lastly a third automation, which is triggered on timer finished, should send the notification. Simple!

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  2 года назад +1

      That doesn't sound _that_ simple though. It would work, granted.

  • @Quentame74

    Hi !
    I’ve just bought a Siemens dishwasher and also integrated with Home Connect to Home Assistant, had no issue on configuration (I don’t add quotes on key and secrets, and just following the instructions).
    On the automation part :
    Why are you waiting for 1h after the end of the program and not trigger the notification immediately ?
    Why checking if the door is close ?
    EDIT : seen the video again and understood why, you want to send a notification only if the dishwasher hasn’t been emptied 1h after the program ends.
    BUT ! (There is always a but 😁)
    I personally didn’t check the Home Connect doc and just launch the dishwasher to examine the data retrieved into HA.
    Actually, there is a misunderstanding on the door state because it reports open/close and should be locked/unlocked, at least on my device it’s like this.
    When the program start the door reports to close, and when the program ends it reports to open.
    When I put dish on the washer by opening and closing the door, the state don’t change.
    That’s also why I got confused the first time I watched the video.
    I don’t know if your Bosh appliance reports the right data, but my Siemens one does not. Or it’s an HA bug.
    Can you tell me ?
    So I either fix the HA integration or contact the Siemens support.
    In my case I can’t do a system like yours because of this issue, but as I barely hear the end sound I’ll send a notification directly when the program ends (progress to 100%, state to inactive, or door to open then 😅)
    Thanks !

    • @Quentame74
      @Quentame74 2 года назад

      Also : I got confused because at the beginning of the video you were planning to built a pods counter with a counter decreasing automation and maybe something to refill, and I saw a notification when the program ends.

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  2 года назад +1

      @@Quentame74 Thanks for your feedback. My door on the device is correctly showing closed/open, so this might be Siemens implementing the API differently.
      Initially I wanted to create a pod counter, but as I fiddled with the integration that changed. My videos are often not planned as much as me just filming what happens 😊

    Is it possible to keep the device powered on all the time? My Bosh dishwasher disconnects from the network after a few minutes of inactivity so I cannot track its state... unless sending power on command from HA or press the physical button on the device. I'd like to run a similar notification to unload the dishes but it won't update the state when I open the door so it's useless :(

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I have noticed mine power off as well. The odd thing is that it never loses connection with the Wifi according to my analytics, so it is a software thing. I will do some more digging on this, as it is annoying.

    • @mic22info
      @mic22info 2 года назад +1

      @@LarsKlintTech I came up with a partial solution. I use a motion sensor to track the occupancy of the kitchen so a simple automation triggers power on on the dishwasher when the motion is detected. I will consider to put a contact switch on the dishwasher door to power it up every time it is opened to be able to get current state. I might end up using just the switch, without powering up the actual device, because all I need is the door status for notifications with a reminder to unload/load the dishwasher.

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  2 года назад +2

      Hello, did you both find a soltuon? I have a dishwasher and a dryer and both drops the wifi 5GHZ connection randomly during the day. I am an expert with networking and I couldn't find any soltuins. Logs show random patterns of disconnection (registering and de-registering to wifi). I tried everything and no solution other than the machines connect to wifi whenever they like in a completely random style. What a disappointment. My home is almost 100% smart but this was a total fail from Bosch.

  • @rogerbarr2671

    At 6:12 in your video, you’ve successfully connected your dishwasher to the Home Connect app. Was it really that easy? I’ve connected my new Bosch dishwasher to my Home connect app, but it was a major pain. I had issues every step of the way, even though I’m familiar with techo things. I also set firewall rules in my router so I can access it remotely. The dishwasher stays connected to the Home Connect app for a short time, then continually tries to disconnect, connect, etc. it is disconnected 90% of the time. Is Home Connect really this bad? Or is it something I’ve done wrong in the setup? What is really annoying, it works perfectly for a while, then disconnects. If you or anyone else has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

    • @LarsKlintTech
      @LarsKlintTech  Год назад

      To connect it was easy, yes. I have the same issue a lot of the time, especially when the power is off on the dishwasher. I am not sure why they would not let you connect just because the button isn't pressed. The thing is powered all the time! Whenever it is running it works perfectly, both in the Home Connect app and Home Assistant.

    • @Q8Webmaster
      @Q8Webmaster Год назад +1

      Sadly I have the exact same wifi drops issue with 2 new devices (Dryer Series 8 and The dishwasher). I kind of gave up finding a solution to keep them alive with wifi. Most of my home devices are smart and never drop a connection. Those 2 devices are having the highest QOS and Priorities in the network and they just decide to connect/disconnect randomly whenever they like. Total disappointment. I thought connecting the devices to HA would fix this issue (by sending endless packets 24/7) If there is a way for that 😏

    • @LarsKlintTech
