All the Holgates parks are brilliant! My favourite one of theirs is Silverdale. But as you say the Toilet and shower blocks are unbelievably clean always!

We were there 4th -16th July three pitches further down. Sorry the weather wasn’t so good. Pity you didn’t show the salt marshes. Access by a gate just past the on site pub. Also if you cross the main road about 200 yards towards Carnforth, in the lay bye there are steps leading to the canal and you can walk/cycle to the Canal Turn pub. May see you out and about. We can be identified by our dog. A large white poodle. Bill & Jeannie

Hope you had a good break there, we do like Holgates sites. We used to go to Silverdale but they don't allocate pitches there and people put cars on pitches to reserve them so it put us off. We had a walk down to the garden centre which has a good cafe, will check the canal route out next time.
Thanks for comments and watching, Martin

Hi Martin - I would never carry bikes on the roof for any distance and noise - I carry my two electric bikes on the rear of the caravan and have done so every trip to the South of France and never had a twitch of a snake, however, I would not recommend doing so without a proactive anti sway device. The notion that loading all the heavy stuff over the axle is complete nonsense since loads should be spread over the full chassis of the van with just the correct positive weight on the ball. If you want a full explanation just return the comment.

Martin, please don't take this the wrong way but do you ever actually go anywhere in your caravan? I mean more than 50 miles

    • @TheCaravanNut
      @TheCaravanNut  3 года назад

Good question, yes we do but due to the pandemic we haven’t ventured far since 2019. If you look at our vlogs before then you will see, Edinburgh, Paignton and cheddar to name a few. We don’t vlog every trip. We have been to Freance twice before I started the RUclips.
We also have a trip planned soon which is 211 miles away!
Hope that answers your question. Cheers

    Hi Martin
Enjoyed the video - remember you going last year and we tried to book for few days in July on our way back from Scotland but it was fully booked.
Talking about Lancaster services ( Forton), we stopped there on the way up and followed the signs for caravans and it must be the worst services I’ve ever been in.
We make notes and just looked back at them to remind me.
The sign for caravans takes you into a small car park with only one entry exit and it’s confusing because you have to drive through a give way and it’s very narrow and tight bend . Don’t think you’d get an 8 footer through it. Avoid at all costs!
It’s time service areas made better provision for caravans or at least stop lazy car and van drivers taking up what few spaces there are
    Thanks again
    Take care
    Howard

      Hi Howard,
Lancaster services - When we pulled in I remembered we had been there before and said I wouldn't go back. The narrow single entry is a pain, there is no clear parking areas marked out which makes it difficult. We parked in the middle and a motorhome pulled up in the bau opposite, there was no way I was getting out. think he realised and moved.
One we will definitely avoid in the future.
Thanks for the support and watching
      Martin
