  • This is just one way to get Mother Ducker to act as a dynamic EQ. It is very limited but can give a more subtle effect than whole band ducking with Mother Ducker in its default setup.
Step 1: Use Air Para EQ to scoop the frequency you want to duck (be heavy handed)
Step 2: Create a return track with another Air Para EQ with the same frequency added back
Step 3: Adjust levels of the return track (+/- Hp /LP filters) so it sounds the same without the sends and EQs as it does with them on
Step 4: Add Mother Ducker to the return send. Set attack to 0.1 and adjust threshold and release
If you want to duck a shelf instead of a bell it may be better to just duplicate the track and use Kill EQ on both tracks with one playing highs and one playing lows, put Mother Ducker on only one of them. This is what many people do when splitting bass tracks, ducking the subs and keeping the high bass rolling.
