I bought a manduka in the summer. I am definitely a beginner but I wanted to buy something nice for myself when quarantine started. I really like it still
Packaging: It came in a sturdy rectangular cardboard box that said Yoga on it. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxZkaD2JsPC-fUMkF3vxJ2echoiXZ3T9aM I didn't like how it let possible package thieves know what might be contained inside but great packaging otherwise. The yoga mat came rolled up in a plastic wrap, which was fairly easy to remove.Contents: I got the green yoga mat and it came with an adjustable velcro carrying strap already secured to the mat. There was also a warranty card. There was a bit of a plastic smell coming form the yoga mat but it quickly dissipated after using it once.I've only used the yoga mat twice so far but I am loving it. It's such a game changer to my work outs, especially compared to my bed and floor, haha! I can confirm that it very thick, slip resistant, and comfortable. i didn't look at the dimensions prior to buying the mat, but it is so much longer than I expected! Width is normal size in my opinion. I don't know if it really is tear resistant yet... only time will tell!
I loved this! My mat is not grippy at all and was $10 from Ross. Looking forward to trying the yogaline mat

That alo yoga mat is pretty! My concern is over time, the hands and feet placement will turn yellow/brown/grey. You know, like the white beddings.
after i watch this video, i decided to purchase Alo Yoga Mat, i chose the tie die warrior mat. And i'm not regret it! The quality of the mat is sooooo good for yoga especially for ashtanga🔥
I purchased a mat from Scoria about a month ago because I wanted to try a cork mat and LOVE it!
Have you practiced with it yet? I’ve always liked the look of cork mats, but have heard very mixed reviews on their grippiness (if you’re not doing hot yoga or similar).
@@ashleas.989 I practice with it daily. I don't do hot yoga and it has very good grip. IMO, getting a mat is very personal so it's a matter of trying different mats until you find what is best for you (Which is why many people end up owning many yoga mats over time). I currently own 5 mats and so far, my cork mat is my favorite.

No Jade Harmony? Curious why it didn't make your list. If you tried it, do any other mats you mentioned compare when it comes to grip? I feel so safe on the JH. So far, nothing comes close. Grip is my #1 concern. The only negative: I wish it was easier to slide forward (I do vinyasa) but for feeling super solid, I'm willing to let that go.
I’ve used Jade Harmony and like it a lot too, though the mat had begun to wear and pill, and I found my hands sliding sometimes. Because I prefer grip as well, I decided to check out lululemon’s mat and the grippiness on the polyurethane side is second-to-none-no sliding whatsoever after planting my feet or hands down, even when sweating buckets (though this may leave some sweat stains that are difficult to remove 😓). Maybe a mat with a polyurethane surface would help with grip? I liked lululemon’s because it’s reversible, so I have the option to use the other side for gentler flows.
@@ivys.9187 So nice of you to write and so glad you found the "one." I've only had a problem once with slipping on my Jade and they figured out why and gave me a recipe for the fix that worked like a charm (it was the soap I was using). Now I use three parts hot water to one part vinegar. Yes, I have scuff marks but I drag my feet so I blame me, not the mat. The mat never moves on my hardwood floor. No peeling (I have heard others face that issue). I always wanted to try B Mat and Lulu (of course, I've heard complaints about Lulu too. I've heard complaints about all of the mats!) but I am deeply attached to my Jade Harmony.
Looking forward to your thoughts on the Yoga Line mat grippiness after a sweaty vinyasa flow. Also, do you feel that Lifeform mat is worth the price? Thank you!
Personally I love the Liforme mat and it would be my most favorite, but I'm truly not sure why they list it at $140... if it hadn't been gifted to me I would have just stuck with my All mat or Lululemon.
Did they discontinue the Alo mat? Yours look pretty wide. I also saw another RUclipsr with one and hers was more wider. I have searched and can’t find it tho. 😩 the ones I have found are longer

I sweat super fast and need a mat that really doesn’t make me slip (but is not sticky). I considered cork because many recommended it for the grip especially when moist but you are saying other mats are better than you cork mat in this point? I didn’t really get which one‘s the best for that. I only have a natural rubber travel mat that I’ve been using for years now every day at home it is awesome but it‘s quite thin and I want to change to a thicker mat for at home.

Thank you for this video! I’m excited to invest in a quality mat. Is there any particular material or brand you would recommend that’s soft enough for people with knee pain?
Honestly, it best if you add a folded up blanket under your knees as no mat will truly be soft enough to cushion knee pain that much. Or you can also fold up your mat a bit so that there are more layers underneath you!

Alo Warrior is great, but the thicker 5mm mat is SO nice on your joints! I actually have been using my Bala mat a LOT because it’s 8mm thick I think and omggg it’s AMAZING. Bedspread pretty lol. Here it is: shopbala.com

Hello!! No worries at all! So I’ll be honest since I posted this video, Yoga Peices for some reason wasn’t shipping mats to customers that had already paid. I’m not sure what ever happened ultimately since then, but that was the last I heard of them so I’d be careful with that.

Oh thank you! I actually ordered a Yoga Pieces back on Sunday night after watching this video. I did notice that I wasn't getting an update on it being shipped so I messaged them and they apologized for not communicating it and gave me a UPS tracking number. I'm still a little wary and that made me wonder the quality as a result.
Since that one is being shipped overseas, I caved and bought a Manduka Prolite which I'm equally excited about. Also, thank you for the shameless plug!! Your mats are so pretty...!!! I love the colors and the unique shape. I will way a bit before getting another one likely unless if I really dislike both of my mats. However, I'm bookmarking this. Thank you for sharing!

I do martial arts and I think I want a yoga mat. What is a good yoga mat for practicing balance. Obviously a yoga mat isn’t big enough for practicing forms, and a limited space. But if I was to start learning to do yoga poses to enhance my balance and control and to learn headstands on, what would be ideal? I’m going for my fourth degree belt next month and I need to work on my balance so my moves don’t look horrible. Thanks. PS, I never done yoga before.
First of all, congratulations! That’s awesome. 👏🏽 For you I’d suggest a PU yoga mat with plenty of cushion. My PU mats are my go to when I want something grippy that will hold me in place and won’t have me slipping all over the place. Also lean towards something thicker... maybe 6mm or around that. My suggestions would be to check out Lululemon and Manduka mats! They have a lot of PU mats (polyurethane) in larger and/or longer sizes.
I'm here because I recently purchased a yoga mat that is not thick enough for my hard floors and I cannot even do my workouts because my bones are hurting so much from just sitting on the floor.

Hey, I think my comment was deleted. I recommend the Yogaline or the Lifeorme yoga mat for you. They're wider and longer I'm 5'8/5'9 and I treated myself to the Yogaline mat because of it's tailored alignment system so that would be perfect for you height

Hi! Mosttttt definitely yes. Sugarmat mats work best once you get them wet aka: sweat on em. Highly recommend for hot yoga for sure
