Fellow feeling. At least my Bircher-to-Birther family were "only" Episcopalians. But it is between a hard place and a rock when you go thru the revelation that people you were raised to love and revere are not only irrational, but in a mean way, but you still are in a weak power relationship, trying to not make waves. And they don't even let you "lie low." They intuit that you aren't on board.

Same with the Pentacostal upbringing. I hung with it until I joined the USMC and left home and escaped the family expectations. I had already figured out that there were some folks who were sincere with it and committed to being good Christians but many were fronting in church and doing the opposite at home and in private. Most of the ones doing the opposite were the most powerful or prestigious in the church. Preaching against hypocrisy while living it.

I am German speaking, live just next the border to Germany. Because the (West-)Germans as only country in the World really worked themself through their past mistakes I was able to hear many speeches from Hitler in original language, many Interviews from former Nazis, or just normal People who lived through these times. I met many people who lived their normal lives through these days in person, just because they still live right here where I grew up. I understood that nobody is safe not to fall for somebody, some Organisation, Religion what ever, what causes the very same, deadly delusion that the Nazis fell for. It will just have another title, but it will be the same. I promised myself to be very cautious of my weak spots!! Trump used already in his first election campaigns Hitlers language, using just a bit more dumb formulations. It freaked me out back then, even more now, when still many Americans follow him and his alike!! 😮

Note that inflation panic and preaching of economic catastrophe are being heavily propagandized in America. Real and severe economic distress definitely was part of the background for Hitler's appeal. The disconnect now is that the reality is that America is not so badly off, considering the pandemic and compared to worldwide conditions. So the hysteria is being manufactured. Seems to be almost as good as actuality. Hold good wishes for us.

Hitler used the extreme trauma on the German people wrought by WWI. He knew this is the time when they would be most vulnerable to their primal fears of survival and to a "leader" who promises to ensure that survival. He introduced that fear and hatred of the "other" (Jews) and the German people were all-too-ready to follow this leader who would "save" them. Trump is following the exact same sociological scheme, substituting 9/11 for the trauma source and brown and black people as the impending threat.
Children (and adults) need to be taught about the two different regions of the brain and their roles in thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behavior. When we see that the "reptile brain" is something that no longer is useful in many circumstances, and that we can move past it to empathetic and critical thought, a societal improvement can occur.

Even seeing my response, I had to take a deep breath and ask myself if I truly believe this. My husband (and some friends) are not MAGA, they do not like Trump yet are voting for him on policy. But more than that, I'm finding they are needing to vote AGAINST who they think is their enemy...which is now Harris (according to what they listen to.) My inroads with them is by addressing the fact that the other side is not their enemy. Am I their enemy? No...and I'm on the other "side". I speak of having the same aims, but a different approaches; I speak nuance. So even if they vote for Trump, I'm finding their level of disdain for the other side has dropped and they listen more and hate less. These people I know won't be storming the capital or divided against their loved ones. It's a start.

This is why I find it hard to talk to my extended family. They've been so radicalized I think they would see losing me as an acceptable loss. They see this as a clash of cultures, it is white American Christians against the rest of the world. They do not like change and they are willing to get rid of anyone that represents that change if it means they don't have to do anything different in their lives. They don't want to see brown people, they do not want to address climate change. They do not want to accept their kids might be gay or trans.

There's nothing hard, inherently, in going "oh, wow, well guess I had it wrong with this one"; what's hard is the work that has to be put in, to reach those conclusions. As the second eldest of 6 kids growing up I always felt I had a "duty to warn" the other kids of danger. I carried that into adult life and felt a similar responsibility with my own children and community. "If you see something, say something" became the slogan of the 21st century yet when the most destructive thing to come down the pike, Trump, took control of our country with chaos and violence, we were supposed to say nothing. There we are, in the subway, and the announcement says "If you see something, say something" but there's an invisible asterisk at the end. That's the "fine print" that reads: AYTHING except if has to do with Trump. That could never make any sense. So people just went numb. We are all on our own now and nobody will say a word when we are assaulted or attacked. Life is good for criminals in the USA. Not good for all others. That's because of Trump.

My sister was featured in photographs by the New York Times arriving in a Fundamentalist Christian church-funded bus where she was standing leading in prayer for her particular bus travelers. As a former Fundamentalist Christian by upbringing - and having left that faith in university - I was horrified that my two sisters would support someone as obviously falsely manipulative like Donald Trump and the flashy wealthy megachurch pastors who first led in supporting and promoting him. To date every Trump enthusiast l have met drinks beer usually by the keg. So I will engage in the pop corn & skip the beer. Think this post is maybe what you refer. Natural Hygiene was taught by Natives to USA medical people & those teachings remained the law of the land up until the late 1800's when big pharma began to take over making Natural Hygiene unjustly obsolete until early 1900's when Herbert M. Shelton re-founded the orthopaedic practice at his health sanatoriums & by the 1950's he ran for potus, but big oil land grabs & big pharma swindles had a monopoly by then, also it was further corrupted by the liquor industry that had spiraled out of control as a drug of choice ever since the 1930's. So it is way past time to make Natural Hygiene a part of our daily lives again, as the once sober apple cart was upset too many times over the years by oppressive governmental inebriated addicts who have been increasingly abusing a once sound medical practice here in America for far too long. Here is my take on needed improvements for those who have yet them or even considered changing these corrupt current laws yet. Back around the 70's reagan began shutting down state hospitals to save taxes for the rich resulting in an ever increasing spiral of homeless street people & overcrowded prisons. Reagan was inebriated on his bubbly. That points to another mess up that occurred back in the 30's when they made alcohol their drug of choice as legal recreation & criminalized other intoxicants. Past time for a resolution to both these gross errors. 1- make all drugs & alcohol legal medically with supervision. 2-drug & alcohol test all law enforcement, politicians, educators & gun owners at their own expense, never as illegal recreation in use currently. Until those insane obsolete laws, rules & regulations are changed with appropriate resolutions the errors of the past will continue to escalate.

Some of the Trump followers simply do not like admitting that they would be so wrong in the first place. So they might in fact vote for Harris but are not going to admit it.

I was wrong for not voting for him the first time and I admit it. Not nearly as crazy as I had imagined, and not nearly as deluded as your average Dem today of course.

Dehumanizing Trump supporters. Humans in a democracy with freedom. Remember how Waco worked out from your opinions.

In my opinion, Trump benefits from the leniency of goodness. In a world where we tend to forgive and forget people who do others harm by giving them a second and even a third chance, we all know that this method does not work on certain people. We continue to believe that the Yin and Yang ☯️ philosophy will balance things out. Time not being a factor in the universe, we cannot predict when or even if this balance will occur during our lifetime because ‘time’ doesn’t matter.

Mr. Bowman/Hamel/Vance ( take your pick, he has used all 3 names ) is a person with no center. He's amoeba-like. He has hitched his fortunes to Trump's fate. I don't believe that he is a "true believer" but he does see fame and riches for himself within his greedy grasp. He's an opportunist. A liar, too.

20:29 Dan Partland, bombast is fancy padding, not hostility. The root meaning is cotton. Nothing to do with bombs.

Dr. Hassan, I am curious about Ginny Thomas who was at the capitol riot and part of the Jan 6 attack! She is Clarence Thomas supreme court justice's wife, she was also in a cult very young, and had since her leaving spent time going around preaching against them. Now that she has succumbed yet again to the Trump cult does this make it more difficult for a person like her to ever be open to the truth or her ability to get away?
Just speculation here but could they have used her knowledge of cults to help build Trump's fanatical following? I also listen to Dr. Bandy Lee's well qualified observations of Trump, and understand that a kind of mass psychosis is happening with his mental health disorder as well that can be generating part of the cult like effect on his supporters. Could this combination of knowledge of cult behaviours have also helped forming their current maga mind control system. This reminds me of Hitler, and KGB intelligence operations from the dark past, subliminal messaging, brainwashing mind control of the dark days of the cold war and in the past!
