All my dogs have been crate trained!! They love it and it’s a space that is all their own! i would suggest having a crate that fits him, not only for his own comfort but you never know when you’ll actually need it too! you never know if your dog will have an off tummy or on medication and you want to monitor or just a quick emergency when you’ll need to put them away for a few minutes! It’ll always be a safe place you can put him no matter what!
I’m a bad dog mom & gave up on crate training... my puppy would cry for literal hours in her crate, and make herself so upset that she would throw up, so I just started leaving her in our living room where there isn’t anything for her to get into when she was 3 months old and she was totally fine, chill, no crying, no accidents, no destruction. However, we are still working on the crate bc it’s important to have for trips and stuff. My previous dog loved her crate, after puppyhood we never shut her in, but she would sleep there all the time - don’t take his crate away, he deserves to have his den! Plus if you travel with him you’ll need it.
we crate both of our 65lb+ dogs together in a 48" kennel and they love it. Remember dogs are "den" animals so they do not mind, and in fact most times prefer, a smaller "home" area. So I wouldn't worry about getting a bigger crate (as long as he can stand straight up in it). But I would continue to make sure he feels comfortable staying in a crate throughout his life because you just never know when you will need him to be in there and you don't want him to develop any anxiety in relation to it - even if you board him at a facility while you're on vacation, most places put your dog in something that resembles a crate. And even more importantly, with you guys most likely moving a handful more times it is crucial for him to feel like he has a safe space wherever you move into to (ie. his crate)
Hey! i think it is really important for Brody to have a crate. My dog just passed away at 17 years old and would sleep in his crate every night up until then - we kept it open all the time and it is like his little home // like you said! i think just him having his own space is very important - esp if you leave him for like 4 to 5 hours etc. but LOVE you, Max + Brody :) y'all are the cutest family
we leave our dog in the house without a crate. when she was a puppy we had a 6 foot pen that she would stay in. when we first left her alone, we’d start with a small room and increase till she was good in the entire house
My 7 month old golden puppy is also transferring out of his crate! We leave him loose in a room with his crate open so he has the choice of going in if he wants. I also bought a Wyze indoor security camera so I can spy on him while I’m gone like the extra dog mom I am.
I would just get a dog bed that fits within his crate and leave in it a safe place and allow him space and time in it if he wants it! But ensure you are training him for appropriate areas for him to roam- that will keep him accountable if he’s left out for a little bit!
You almost went to school in Wisconsin!? Girl, I’ve gone to like three different universities in WI (long story) so we would’ve had such a good chance of meeting 🥺
Just a word to the wise, I saw a video circulating TikTok the other day where they did a microbial study of the Meyers cleaning sprays (literally video footage from bacteria under a microscope) and they found that Meyers is actually pretty ineffective at killing bacteria. It definitely makes your surfaces look and smell nicer, but as far as germ killing, they really don’t do a very good job. Just a heads up. Not sure if that’s a huge priority to you but I just figured I would share during Covid times.
Love watching all Brody content 😍 Would definitely keep the crate as an option for him and get a bigger one as he grows out of it! Both of my dogs love their crates and feel cozy and secure! We crate both of them when we leave the house because one has severe anxiety (poor baby) but wish we could leave them out because our other dog is so good outside of his crate. Also love the question of the day in all the vlogmas videos!
Gretchen OMG you have to try the elation tight leggings from athleta. they are seriously the best leggings i’ve ever tried... they’re a mix of aligns and wonder unders!!!
I prefer your old black bar stools use and keep those. Favorite restaurants Knights Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Culver’s, five guys, noodles and co., and Jersey Mike’s. Love you G and Max!!
Have you tried getting a surge protector strip to plug all your lights into ... I have a large belkin brand one which was affordable and most time amazon had the used options
My dog was crate trained when I adopted her and when she gets scared (storms, when I’m vacuuming, fireworks, etc) she goes in there and seems just relaxed and comfortable. She doesn’t *need* the crate, but I keep it up and open in my apartment just in case she wants to go in there to relax/soothe herself. She’s similar to Brody in that it’s her home, so if you can find a space for it, I recommend you just keep it for Brody just bc it’s a space only for him
Chipotle and corelife soooo good! And regarding the crate situation my dog liked his crate too but I moved and didn’t really have the room for it he was about 6 months old and was well behaved so I put it away and made him a little corner in my room for him to feel safe if he needed it and it’s worked well ☺️
Our 7 month old golden retriever puppy still sleeps in her crate at night! We do put the crate in our basement though so it doesn’t junk up our kitchen 🤣 during the day she rarely even goes in there, and just loves to sleep on her favorite blanket. I think you’re doing the right thing giving him the option of the crate at night!!! We like having our pup in her crate at night just to have a little bit of a boundary for me and my husband
I have a two-year-old golden retriever and I crate trained him as a pup. Once he got to that point of being pretty well behaved I sort of transitioned him out of the crate also (I left him out for short periods of time and slowly worked him up to longer times - he did end up destroying a book during that process). Now I put him in his kennel a couple of times a month to keep him used to it, which has been super helpful when bringing him places (friend's houses, cabins, etc.). It's nice to know that I can take him anywhere and he will be just fine in his crate if needed. I also think it makes it easier to have other people watch my dog for the weekend when needed since they know they can put him in his crate whenever. Love ya!
We have two dogs that like their crate and stay in that when we leave and then our first dog (who is more entitled haha) we leave him in our room with doors closed and everything put away and she just sleeps on the bed. That way he can roam around but he is still confined to a specific space
I would definitely have a crate that fits him! Like you said, it's their home, and you'll want it if you ever go on a road trip, leave him with friends/family/boarding place, or if you have to move or anything! Our dogs love their crates and have had them their whole lives, definitely worth it, it's their safe place!
When my dog was a puppy, we crated her at first, then we went to leaving her in a single room puppy proofed, once we knew she was fine with that we let her have free roam of the house puppy proofed!
I have literally been watching your vlogs since you were a junior in high school. I think the first vlog I watched was when you went to the track. I am from the same area as you so when I saw that I never stopped watching your vlogs. I remember when you would vlog in the morning before school and you would make peanut butter and banana toast.
My dog was the same way she was crate trained and she started sleeping out of her crate at 7 months. At 7 months I would leave her for an hour while I worked out or went to the grocery. Then I slowly increased and by 9or 10 months she was able to stay home alone all day out of the crate. I just made sure nothing was put and all my doors or closets were closed so she wild stay in my main area! Just spray your wall as with the butter apple spray because in the middle of the night one time she chewed a small part of the wall when she was 7 months!
those barstools were just not doing it for me 😂😂 i think if anything you’re better off with the old ones! if you really want new ones you should get black new ones or really really dark wood!!!! love the brody content!!!! you should do more gift guides and hauls! or a favorites video of like alllll of your favs!!
I would get brody a nice comfy bed! My dog was crate trained but once we trusted him to leave him alone when we were gone we didn't really use it anymore. It is his safe place though so we still have it but keep it in the garage! He goes there when he gets scared when there are fireworks etc.
Could you return both pants and get the perfect size? Also, I totally know what you mean about the age thing. I'm 24 and graduated college and have a good full time job, but I remember being 13 like "I wanna be engaged at 22, and kids at 26" hahaha. No way!!
Restaurant rec: HONEYGROW! It’s right next to the KOP mall-the one from the last vid, it is like sweet green but more local! Delicious salads and Asian stir fry all locally sourced!!!
We started transitioning our dogs out of their crates during the shut down. We dog proofed our house by shutting doors and not leaving things out and then we bought a cheap camera off of amazon so that we could check in on them. We started by leaving them for short periods of time and worked our way up. We can now leave them all day while we are at work and they are so much happier. We still have the camera set up so that we can check in if we want, but they’re always just sleeping.
I love your videos, making my day every time you upload!! My favorite restaurant is 110 grill in MA or Fuji !! Next video you should do a Q + A with max, updated one.
my pup is a little younger than brody and i’m going to have her sleep in the crate at night for a lot longer but i leave her out of it during the day if i leave now. i just upgraded her crate to the next size up because her head was hitting the top too. i think it’s really good for them to have a safe space to sleep and get a restful nights sleep
Also! Fav restaurant is Back Home Bagels!!!!! It’s in Schnecksville!!! You need to go, it’s like 15 mins from Allentown!!!!! THE BEST BAGELS AND BAGEL SANDWICHES

Buy a surge protector for the outlet to plug your christmas lights into. Might help

A gate that you can maneuver in diff shapes to fit different spaces is good instead of a crate for when you leave the house!
My dog’s head popped right up when Brody was squeaking his toy! So cute!

Regarding the crate- Keep it for him- as his safe space kinda thing. especially if he sees it as his bed at night! :)
oooo yes and updates q & a with max!!!!! i saw that comment and i second it hahaha!
You could add seat cushions if you want the bar stools to be more comfortable😊
