  • A quick look at how to change the spark plugs on a 4 cylinder 2.5L Nissan Frontier 2011.
    Seems like a little much but you do have to take the intake off to get to plugs 2, 3, and 4. It's not that hard but it does take a little bit of time. Just made this video to clear up where the bolts are that are hard to see and reach. Hope it helps somebody.

    This is one of the best for this job! Thanks! Short, sweet, and the right details to complete the ridiculous job of changing plugs in the Nissan frontier....

    Hey man thanks for this, although it wasn’t in-depth; it covered the basic stuff. I took about an hour and a half to figure the the rest but I got it done 😅 Thank you

      No problem! I didn't realize what I was getting into until halfway through. Noticed there was nothing talking about it so I wanted to help the next person see what they are getting into. Glad you got it!

    What you need to know is you must free the throttle body side from the bracket and the bracket from the block to allow the intake to slide off the studs. Crazy blind bolt engineering.

    Would have liked seeing it from the start rather than somewhere in the middle. I have a 4 cyl frontier like many who need detailed videos like for so many other brand models. But thanks for what you provided. Perhaps you can do a detailed oil change?

  • @mushroomcloud1
    @mushroomcloud1 3 года назад +5

    The older frontier 98-04 had the 2.4l I4 and it took 10 minutes to change the plugs.
    Pull the caps and change the plugs.

      It’s a trend towards inclining the consumer towards the dealership for basic maintenance. They don’t make money when you’re servicing your own vehicles. Gotta love the free market

    Thx.. fixin to tackle this on my 2015 Frontier tomorrow. Did you have to do any relearns on throttle body or anything?? Also, did you torque the intake bolts?? My service manual says 14 ftlb but I see some people torquing them to like 7 ftlb.. Just curious how you did it. Thx again for the insight.

    I appreciate this video! spark plugs are in, but I have this irrational fear of dropping every bolt reinstalling them all and not being able to reinstall, and so the truck sitith lol. Any tips?

    • @Nizm0Mike
      @Nizm0Mike  3 года назад

      Luckily with this small of an engine, there is plenty of room there up front. in the case of you dropping something, it will most likely fall on the floor. They also make magnetic socket sets that are nice in certain situations. You should be able to get the bolts/nuts at least started by hand.

    Hey bro great video I have a 2017 2.5 version of the same truck. Do you need a torque wrench or no? It’s amazing how they do so much silly stuff to change spark plugs.🤣😂🤣

    • @Nizm0Mike
      @Nizm0Mike  2 года назад

      Hey there. I didn't use a torque wrench but I suggest doing it if you are not familiar with working on vehicles and normal fastener tightness. I went to college for automotive and have worked on cars for a while so I can get a pretty good feel for it. Too loose and you may get a leak. Too tight and it could be worse as you can damage things or make it bind up. Just be cautious!

    • @jmwichert8842
      @jmwichert8842 3 года назад +1

      The front stud and nut are visible once the air ducting is removed. The back one is in the same relative place. You might need a mirror on a stick and small flashlight to see where the middle nut and back stud are located. That middle nut in particular is a bit awkward to access; you have to angle the socket extension somewhat to reach it. Also there is a recommended torqueing sequence when reassembling the manifold. Be aware that the center bolt is slightly longer than the other 2. I replaced the intake gaskets when I replaced the spark plugs. Less than $20 at the auto parts store.

      Nissan V6 automatics were notorious for eating up the transmission because of the transmission cooler. Haven't heard of the 4 cyls having this problem.

    • @Nizm0Mike
      @Nizm0Mike  4 года назад +3

      The entire Frontier is pretty rock solid. I mean, they have been unchanged for ages (over 15 years I think). Mines fairly low miles but runs great as long as you aren't looking for a lot of hp. I think they used the same 2.5 in the Altima for a long time.

    Why can't they put the in a reasonable spot like older trucks where u can just reach in with one socket take them out then put it back in instead they want u to take all that shit off so u tear something up then have to go buy more parts said it a thousand times I will stay with older vehicles then buy a new disposable one
