Really nice video Kristi. I like that you did a voice over so the noise of the machinery did not compete with your instructions. Very clear instructions and easy to follow with the video. Both you and your mom looked good on camera. And your voice is pleasant to listen to. A+
Thank you! I wondered if I should have left some of the machine sounds very low. I thought that might make it more "real". But I do agree that it might have been distracting.
fabulous video Kristi. love the cameo by your mom, i know the artist in her was loving the opportunity to help do something creative. your such a lucky lady to be so talented and to have your own she room/cave, but the most fabulously colorful one i have seen, i'm so envious. love the video, definitely keep them coming, we need more videos by ladies to show that women can do stuff too.
What a great easy design. I recently moved and couldn’t bring my old cutting table with me. I had made it in place and couldn’t get it out the door! So … I have to make a new one. For my top I glue down a thin flat thermal batting and then a canvas cover that is pulled tight and stapled underneath. I then mark my inch grid to follow for making draperies etc. I can iron on it or set a cutting mat for quilt projects.
Wow, gal. Great job. So easy to understand, and you make what I know was a lot of hard work seem do-able for those of us who know little about woodworking. I would only offer the suggestion that you not point the nail gun toward any of your body parts when nailing pieces of wood together and use eye protection when appropriate. After all, we would like you to be around to post another video.
Excellent video! Clear and concise, really well done. I want to thank you for giving me the courage to tackle projects on my own around my 1st house. You're an inspiration. I've just begun demo on my master bath. Thanks to you I hope to be enjoying my new soaker tub this winter. And by the way, you are beautiful, graceful and have a lovely voice. Here's to facing our fears and coming out on top!
I love hearing that you've had the courage to tackle your own projects, Maureen! I was just looking at soaker tubs myself, and dreaming about soaking in my new bathroom. :-D
I could totally adapt this to a size I could fit into my craft room or for the garage. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! I could actually add laminate to the top of my beat up desk top. oh my goodness. This got my creative adrenaline pumping. Thanks for sharing!
My first work table was the first time I had ever used laminate. It seemed intimidating (especially routing the edges), but it was actually very easy! It would definitely give new life to a beat up desk top. You should give it a try!
What a great how-to video! I've watched a lot of these types of RUclips instructional videos, and yours is so clear, articulate, and easy to follow. I appreciate not having to hear over the background equipment noise and/or, my least favorite, background music. Well done!
Thank you so much!! I do like a bit of background music (I can't stand those completely silent breaks in a video), but I try to keep it low enough that it's barely there and not competing with my voice. :) Glad you enjoyed it!
What an inspiration you are! I sew drapes & this kind of a table is needed & especially for making Kingston valances I am so impressed I am your Mom's age now I know she must be so proud of you, Nice Job Kristi
Ive been reading your blog for a while now and was SO inspired by your brave handling of power tools and awesome design choices. So glad you finally have a RUclips channel now so the world can see how so very talented you are! :)
Go Mum!! Great work on the table, I made a similar table some time ago for the quilting frame with storage underneath. Such satisfaction when you can make your own tables, isn't it? Keep up the good work and thanks for the video.
Where did all these You Tube women come from that know how to use carpentry tools they are just coming out of the woodwork.... I need to take a class. That looks great.
O my goodness! How awesome! How did you learn all that wood stuff? I have trouble with math, but I love to attempt all that building stuff. Great tables!!!
Love this! I need a set of these tables! I subscribed just now, but I see you haven’t posted a RUclips video in two years... I’m guessing the pandemic has been tough on your remodel! All the best.
They're about 32" high. I made them specifically for me, and I'm only five feet tall. A standard kitchen counter is 36 inches high, and that's too tall for me. So I went with 32, and it's perfect for me. But if you're taller, you'll want to adjust for whatever height will be comfortable for you to stand and work at for long periods of time.
I found a bar stool that is adjustable height, so I have it adjusted to a little above standard chair height. And then my feet rest comfortably on the bottom shelf of the table. If I need to sew, I put the sewing machine pedal on that bottom shelf where my feet are. It’s very comfortable.
Unfortunately, I don't have that info. So sorry! And even if I did, it would have been pre-2020 prices, which would be irrelevant today since everything is at least 50% (if not 100%+) more expensive today.
I think it's about 32 inches. I'm only 5' tall, so standard countertop height (36") is too high for me. That's the great thing about building your own! You can customize the height to whatever you need.
Love to see a woman with power tool skills!
This is the best ideal table for any crafter! I have a table I saved from the dump and I have been trying to figure out how to make it work for me!

If you were to purchase these tables, it would cost a small fortune. You are inspiring.
Wow. I really love these tables. Very clear instruction and details. I should make myself 2 for my workshop.

Very impressive! You AND the tables! ❤

Excellent video and tables!

Thank you, Sheila! I'm glad y'all got to "meet" my mom. :-D
O my goodness! How awesome! How did you learn all that wood stuff? I have trouble with math, but I love to attempt all that building stuff. Great tables!!!
Hi Kristi. LOVE your tables! Do you happen to have a list of the supplies you used?
Love this! I need a set of these tables! I subscribed just now, but I see you haven’t posted a RUclips video in two years... I’m guessing the pandemic has been tough on your remodel! All the best.
I hope to get back to making videos very soon. I’ve kept on blogging, though. You can check out all of my projects on my blog.
YOU GO GIRL!
Omgosh! I WILL have these tables one day! Thank you for sharing! May I ask what the the final height measurement is? Thanks!
I loved this video. Great job!
Thank you, Marilyn!
AMAZING! You did a great job!!!
Thank you so much, Jackie!
Great Job! It was inspiring to see that you had done this all on your own and not with a male partner. I love it!
great! Love your video
how about removing the bar code labels before glue-up?
baltic birch ply is 60x60 inches
Superwoman!!!
What about the measurements you have on it? What is and how did you attach it?
Great job girl??
What did you put on it to protect it?
Nice job! Tables look really nice. What did you use for the measurements along the edge of the tables?
I found some metal adhesive-backed 12-foot measuring tapes on Amazon.
super !!!
Hi Kristi, have you had the need to sit at the table? if so is there leg / foot in the event i need to pull up a chair n sew?
I found a bar stool that is adjustable height, so I have it adjusted to a little above standard chair height. And then my feet rest comfortably on the bottom shelf of the table. If I need to sew, I put the sewing machine pedal on that bottom shelf where my feet are. It’s very comfortable.
Love this
What type of paint did you use? Spray paint or latex paint for the final color?
Latex paint applied with a brush.
Please make diy large table using cardboard
Can I use melamine board for the top of the table?
I am making a melamine top for mine as we speak 😊 It’s cheaper than plywood these days!
I would actually take and make that underneath smaller so I wouldn't hit it with my the front of my ankles cuz that hurts
How much would you say this project cost you?
how did you get the tape measure set in?
It's an adhesive measuring tape. You can find them on Amazon. Just peel off the paper back, and stick it on.
What was the total cost for supplies
Unfortunately, I don't have that info. So sorry! And even if I did, it would have been pre-2020 prices, which would be irrelevant today since everything is at least 50% (if not 100%+) more expensive today.
