Yup Color is here, before there was color e-ink displays but these newest ones are so good they might just break though to the mainstream level. I mean it. I bought myself a kobo with one of those color screens. And it is NICE. Color does really add something, you see the covers IN COLOR, Manga can use COLOR, you mark mark things... IN COLOR!
the advantage of BOOX over KOBO is very huge to me. And that advantage is the freedom of android, meaning I can install about any app and do so much more than read epubs and pdfs.
I can read anything I want on my Paperwhite. Use to convert files and load them over USB but since they changed the readers file format a while ago I just email them to my Kindle email address. Takes seconds. I think I've only brought around three books on Amazon.
"anything"? HAHAHAH no friend, no. I just double checked, The Kindle supports 14 file formats only 3 of which are not plain image files, plain text files, or amazon specific formats - THIS device supports more formats than I can be bothered typing out the acronyms for. FFS the kindle doesn't even support CBR/CBZ (and several variations there of) THE most common format for comics/manga out there. And that format isn't even tricky, it's literally just a compressed archive of images using Zip or Rar! This not only supports that natively but you have dozens of different apps to manage/read them - and that's just ONE example of formats the kindle cant' touch. PLUS no fussing with converting then "emailing" the fucking things to the device or dragging out a cable. AGAIN I have SO MANY WAYS to bring files over. I like my Kindle, as I said I've used my paperwhite model for near a decade now, but PLEASE believe me when I tell you the KINDLE is SEVERELY locked down in comparison, if you think otherwise you've got some weird form of Stockholm syndrome 🤣
Very interested in this! Im currently using a kobo and although its not as restrictive as kindle, im finding id like something that supports other android apps that allow for more reading options! Adding colour into the mix doesnt hurt either! My questions would be; - How significantly the colour drops the battery life in a real world use - With Android support, what is the best app youve found to install manga (both free and paid). I currently use a website where eaxh chapter is its own file so i have to use a PDF merger, then put that big file onto a kobo and its such a pain. - Lastly, how reputable is the brand and how long can we expect in terms of support for this device?
4:20 what app are you using for that comic? I have a GC7 but im struggling to get good results. im using Watchmen CBR file, I couldnt pinch zoom working like that
Also when you plug another device like a flash drive into your phone's charging port.. it's called USB OTG (USB on the go) not OTC, unless they changed it. It's such a basic and expected feature that I haven't heard it referred to in forever
I love this size and form factor (page turners) but just missing the Wacom stylus support for note taking). Loving my BOOX Nova Air Colour 7.8” that has stylus support still.
Most of the comics i own are all in a binder in plastic sleeves. I havent touched or openned them in years. also, i see that pic of Captain Janeway. :)
thank you for reviewing this! it's really huge help because you show how comic looks like on this device too! but i have one question, what does it's look like if you use it for annotation? like, what kind of annotations feature boox go color has? and, is the highlighter color in muted pastel? thank you for the amazing review once again!
My primary criteria for any e-reader or tablet computer is they need to be big enough to do a two page spread (i.e. where a panel or two stretches across two pages when a book or magazine is held open) without needing to scroll or too much reduction in size for legibility. I don't know if modern manga and comics refrain from doing those for better e-reader/tablet optimization, but I do know they were done in the past before such devices became mainstream. Unfortunately, I cannot recall any specific manga that had a two page spread.
I'm looking for this feature that may or may not exist. If i doenload the Kindle app and choose a book to read, can I set the book cover for Kindle ebook I'm reading as the cover on my Boox Color 7 lockscreen.
The Ghosting is easy (If you watch close, in a couple of the b-roll clips, you can see I've set up a long-press on one of the side buttons to trigger a full refresh - so if the ghosting becomes an issue, I can force a clean refresh). as for faster refresh over all, it'd be visually pleasant, yes, but at this point it isn't hindering use, especially at normal reading/page turn speeds. e-ink was never designed as a replacement for existing screen tech - but instead for a very specific use case.
Haven't used it. I have the original generation Note Air (as discussed in this video), so I can't speak to how much, or how well, the 3C addressed the issues I had with the first model.
It's too wide for 1 handed use. And why would anyone carry this in additional to a phone??? If you just going to use it at home or work then just get a good tablet. Don't really see the point of these things.
It is not too big for one handed use. Source; I've been DOING THAT. It's for people who actually READ. and I don't mean doomscrolling twitter. I mean actual books, Novels, long form content. Shit that takes long enough to rad that it would suck your phone's battery dead before you're done. If you "dont see the point", you likely never will, this stuff isn't made for you. But to screech like these things are "pointless" just makes you look like a twat. Don't like, or feel the need for ereaders? stop watching videos about them genius.

so real

I've been waiting for a good color e-reader. I have been meaning to catch up on the IDW Transformers comics
Thanks for the review. Getting this one
Edit: i got it now and love the quality so far
The Color 7 is so cool. Could you do a review of the Marvel Unlimited app running on it? Thanks!
I'd give the color e-ink at least one more generation I think before it's ready for prime time.
What additional change or enhancement are you still waiting/hoping for?
@@BluntyTV300 ppi color, maybe.
@@raMmpage18it will come. In a few years we will have different specs. For now this is perfect

E ink is pretty cool tech, i see aldis has E Ink displays as their price tags

yeah, I misspoke slightly. & I mentioned it specifically, because it's not common in ereaders (least, not last I looked)

You can set any image you like as the "lock screen", just like on android..... because, like I said.... it IS android.
Do you think that this 7 in size is adequate for reading magazines for example or would a larger size be better?
I would like to be a lot faster refreshed than it is it’s very slow. E-Ink also has ghosting.
Oh interesting. I didn't know I possibly wanted this until just now. Hoping it does well in the full review.
8:39 - shoutout to the Roomba of Thought
Is the 4096 colours the palette or what the screen can display?
That's what that means, yes.
what do you think of the note air 3c ?
Haven't used it. I have the original generation Note Air (as discussed in this video), so I can't speak to how much, or how well, the 3C addressed the issues I had with the first model.
Am I alone in really wanting to know what anime series was recommended to Blunty? >_>
The hint is in the thumbnail
7 inch screen way to small for comics need a 10 at least.
Uhm no. It's to small. I read comics and having a bigger screen helps me. Get the larger Boox color Eink reader.
Are you getting ghosting?
Looks amazing 👏. How responsive is it for data entry?
What kind of "data" are we talking about?
Hehe. Nipples
