no... not nice! So seriously with so many ships you could have used to make your point why the Vanguard? The Polaris would have been better, IMO. So, you are just trolling, I guess? So much I would disagree with, but I will point out some things you're stating that are misleading. First, CIG is not just making a AAA game they are making 2....maybe 3. Squadron 42 was the first promised game, then a persistent universe was added and is what we call Star Citizen and the possible third is Theaters of War. That third one came out of know where and certainly proves your point on feature creep...and sheet deformation tech as well. For development I think that CIG made promises without knowing just how difficult implementing it would be. I think they now have a better handle on this, but now they created a different issue and that is with the backlog of the catalog of ships. This is the most current drama within the SC community. Drama that honestly is not hard to understand and agree with. Certainly, some ships make sense to hold back on as they are waiting on additional tech or gameplay. Anyone that owns a Reclaimer understands the ship is not really good for much. Hopefully soon that with start to change for the ship in the next patch. Sometimes people do not appreciate just how complex SC is and will continue to be going forward. A spaceship is not just a 3d model. It is a damage map, a wear map, fire propagation, hull breaches, power flow and damage, gravity, life support, physics grids, flight models and a lot more. Each ship is a very complex piece of code and art in motion. As for the crowdfunding, a lot of people believe in the project and wish to see it succeed and they back that up with their money. This year alone with be over 100 million in additional funding, its largest year to date. But never ever pay any more money than you are willing to walk away from. That is the same advice I give to people that want to gamble. The reality is CIG could go belly up, I do not think this will happen, but if you consider 2020 and the covid pandemic, I could not rule it out. What if covid was even more deadly? Well CIG and many other companies big and small might not survive that. As for what you can do in the game, well right now in 3.17.4 you can do a lot. Have fun, join someone else running bunkers, doing bounties, run drugs or mining. There are ways to make money with little risk. That little $45 ship can lead to another ship you buy in game that will open up more opportunities. But for people that want to buy those JPEGs, meh, it is their money not mine. I would think they are adults and mature enough to make their own choices in life. If you find you really hate the game, I do think CIG has a 30-day refund policy
The reason for choosing the vanguard was to make a point that even though they sell jpegs there is still hopes of it coming out and being flyable and useabøe by the players. Showing the Polaris to a newcommer wouldnt get the same idea that these things come to life at some point so I wanted to showcase that ships even when sold as a «soon» image they DO eventually come out. And yes ships takes time and the more star citizen has developed with how they are finally starting to understand how they want their game to be played they need to acommodate these things into new ships and old ones (components, item storage for players, docking collars, cargo grids etc..) the more SC has developed has made it so old ships also need a overhaul to acommodate for these slight tweaks. I do state in the video that the game is a lot of fun and you can have experiences like no other game, specially if you are a new backer of the project. I myself backed in early 2014. I have my hopes but are at a slight sceptical area atm as Server meshing has been promised to be always 1 year away. I just want to see some actual progress now. There is fun to have in the game, I never said the game wasnt fun or that you needed to spend more than 45$ to jump in. I state that you only need to put in 45$ to get into the game and experience it. This is no troll video and I think its quite fitting to say Crowdfunding gone wrong in the way that its still not fully crowdfunded as the game had yet to be completed. Yes this might change down the line, but as we are over the 10year mark it would be nice with something more now. We are getting there, but I wish we were there now. But I’ll just have to wait a bit longer.
@@HurricaneTurtle Ah yes, the 1 or 2 years away. and wasn't also stated it would be released in 2015/2016? I think this was a hard lesson to learn for Chris Roberts, stop announcing release dates when you are still defining specifications. My biggest concern is that the pledging community is going to lose interest with the perceived slow development. These systems that have been designed are coming online now and over the next few years, but can people be patient enough to wait? These are huge systems the entity stream is already in, PES is in next patch, then we will get what next? Dynamic server meshing? The full Quanta system? These are big and very important systems but sadly, not a fancy jpeg animated we can foam over it. Can CIG keep interest while pushing out the promised 100-star systems that are all as detailed as Staton? Can they do this in a short timeline? If we guess that the Odin system is done (for s42) maybe also Vega (S42 intro) also Pyro and of course Stanton. That still leaves 96 systems to go. Using Pyro as a yard stick of ~2-3 years, I will be dead before SC is fully realized. Granted some of these systems will be simple with few planets or moons but still there is a lot of systems to go. Can CIG do it in 20 years? 10? 5? Big ships are another time sync. If we look at the BMM (Banu Merchantman) it has been in production for 1.5 years. Some of this can be due to not having an established art for Banu ships to go on so assets need to be built up. So, let's say a large ship would take 1 year to implement. I count 7 capital case ships in concept only and a number of additional ships that are in an unknown state Done 890 Jump, Reclaimer In Pipeline Banu Merchantman Might be done (held for S42) Idris, Javelin, Kingship, Bengal Concept only (not showing variants) Polaris, Kraken, Endeavor, Orion, Hull D and E, Pioneer Will it be more than a model? Pegasus, Driller, Retribution And then there is this starcitizen.tools/Capital_ships The Javelin is a destroyer. Will we see a Battleship? Battlecruiser? Cruiser? The point of this is there is a lot left to be done and will CIG complete it all and in a sane amount of time? Will the community stay committed for the long haul? Will CIG still bring in enough money to keep the production going?
I just keep playing No Man's Sky, I paid once for it and have enjoyed a ton of free content
Is it pretty good now then? I bought it way back but stopped playing as it was quite shite then. Good now yes?
@@HurricaneTurtle It is a completely different game but in a good way.
Something nice
Very good 🎉
Show me Chivalry 1
Every ship can be bought with ingame money. This is also the best time to jump in.
I’d agree! Im waiting for 3.23.2 for that cargo change before I get back in. Looking forward to being a amazon worker and loading my ship!
More Video games!
