I don't know what it's like now because I did this 8 years ago, but this still seems sooooo tame. Probably because of the cameras. I remember drill sergeants knocking people's bags out of their hands and throwing them as far as they could. Along with swiping PCs every chance they got.

JROTC helps out a lot with marching, rank structure, army values, the soldiers creed. Memorize all of those things as it will give you a heads up above the other guys. Although, when they mess up you will all still do push ups lol just make sure you don't mess up so everyone else doesn't have to do push ups for your failure.

    • @alterscene8091

Be that as it may, red phase is based around teamwork. Breaking you down and building you up. If one fails or fucks something up, you all push. Don't mention being in ROTC though or else you'll most likely become the guide on carrier on ruck marches and such.. I mean unless you really just want to carry it then go for it lol.

I father was drafted into the Army in 1942. He spent three years in the South Pacific fighting the Japanese. He was a Sargent after one year and was asked to be an officer but he declined. I was born in 1953 and was eligible for the draft during the Viet Nam war. I told my parents I was going to join the Army when I turned eighteen. Both my parents discouraged me from doing so. They said to let them draft you. I never got drafted because of a high lottery number. To this day I feel like I et my country down. I would like to thank all who have served!!!

Hope I might have a chance to join the military though.

I could handle jump school easily enough, but RIP was something else. If these kids think basic is tough, the worst 7 days in basic combined are what you can expect in a single day in RIP.

They should try reasoning with the recruits instead of always hollering at them. It would be better for their self-esteem.

Basic recuit. Though the series extends past basic training into Infantry school. So really this is about OSUT (One Station Unit Training)

    Oh my god....
Yeah I don't think I would be able to make it though boot camp at all.
I have to give these people credit for taking all that crap and breaking down to become soldiers, seriously these people fight for our county and they don't get enough credit or praise for their blood, sweat and effort.

Unfortunately from what I understand Harmony Hill is no longer. Went through there in 1986. The drills and training was far more brutal than the "Starships" barracks and training elsewhere at Sand Hill.. No worries, it did me good. "Break the civilian right out of them". For sure. To make an Infantryman, you got to make an animal. My 1st Sgt told me once "we got to treat them like dogs and feed them 3 times a day". For sure. That's what makes an infatnryman.
