    I have gone into the deep end with instax, I started with a mini 90, which is nice and offers a lot of control for an instant camera. Then I bought the wide printer to print digital pictures. Finally I got the Wide 300 camera for an event along with an external flash, I have to say my favorite shots have been when bouncing the external flash off a white ceiling, it really got rid of the 70s flash blast look this camera tends to do, wasted about a pack in testing but I got it to a science. Set the external flash to S1 mode and 1/2 to 1/1 power (depending on the room) and hold the sensor of the flash on the Wide 300 flash with you right hand. Shoot with your left hand. You may also set the camera the Lighten mode as well. This way you get nice soft light and the pictures have that almost 3d look.

      That's awesome! Thank you for sharing that tip! That would be really cool to test out! I love hearing how people expand beyond the limitations of any particular camera, especially an instant film one! Which flash are you using?

      @@ColtonMatocha thank you, I really wanted to explore the flash options as the only instax camera that can control an external flash is the Mint RF70. I used a Visico VS-765 58 GN power flash, but it will work with any flash that has an optical sensor with S1 mode, I only have one so I cannot try a multi-flash setup. It would be interesting to see what you would come up with for sure.

      @@ROFLMAOSHTISMOJ Yeah I could just set my usual flash setup to S1 next time I'm in the studio and see what we get. That's not a bad video idea either 🤣 I'll have to site you as my source though!!!

    Didn't even realize there was a wide version of Instax! Gotta admit that I kinda like the result of the offset viewfinder.... the breaking of the backdrop was a pretty cool aesthetic.

      Yesss! The wides are so cool! You can even pick up an older instax wide camera for pretty cheap! Also thank you, it's funny that what I see as a flaw is not seen that way by you. It just goes to show that it's all about perspective! Do you currently shoot any instax cameras?

      @@ColtonMatochaEstava pensando em comprar uma mini 12. Mas essa wide 300 me pareceu mais interessante. Será??

    No no no. There is no blasphemy in using a GFX cam to feed an Instax printer. This technique makes the gods smile. You WILL do this.

    I love the Wide!!! I have a few cameras that can use it, my fave in the Cameradactyl Rex, a 3D printed camera that uses the Lomo Grflock back!!!

    Can you turn off the flash? And what’s the equivalent 35mm focal length? Thanks

    • @ColtonMatocha
      @ColtonMatocha  Год назад +1

      The lens should be about a 33-35mm equivalent. Unfortunately there is no way to prevent the flash from firing. There is not a way to turn it off.

      You cannot disable the flash, the flash button is to force the flash on strangely enough considering the camera will automatically fire the flash when the camera deems it necessary. It would have made more sense to have the button disable the flash. 35mm focal equivalent is approx 35mm

    For a person with not that much photography skills, but wants instant photos in a large size, would you suggest the sq6 or the wide?

    • @ColtonMatocha
      @ColtonMatocha  Год назад +1

      They are both very simple to operate so you won't have any issues with either one. The instax wide 300 produces the largest instant film you can get from instax, but it comes with the trade-off of being a massive camera. I'd say any of the square cameras including the one you mentioned will still give you a large picture, but will be way more portable.
