As to what to do with the others: You can try selling the bootleg volumes individually at a lower price, letting people know they are bootleg. Lots of people like to use manga pages to make awesome art. Or, like a few people mentioned give them away. Good luck!

This is the first time we've heard of this happening twice from Amazon themselves (not a third party seller)! 😥The explanation could be that some companies share their warehouse with Amazon, since Amazon does package and fulfill orders for other companies.🤔
I am sorry to hear what happened with you. Amazon customer service at times is just useless. I am happy that you atleast got the real one from Barnes finally. Hopefully, their aren't any such mishaps in the future. Look forward to you starting to read One Piece and being part of the journey.

Amazon with box sets are so risky. I tried purchasing the same box set but it was so sketchy. I spent 150+ on it and they didn’t even send me anything. Luckily the money wasn’t transferred but they didn’t even have it on sale even though before I bought it did say it was available. I never ended up buying the first box set. But the one that personally came in perfect condition was the fourth box set. Something I’d do is check with the seller. I’m glad you are talking about this I thought I was the only one. I’m glad you got the authentic first box set.

Even though they said what they said that second time I would still contact them again and push them about it as it really can depend on the person you talk to on the outcome you get and emphasise everything that’s gone wrong cause this ain’t on as $150 isn’t just a little bit of money to lose. Its one thing if it was from a third party seller because they are protected from being held legally accountable.... But not from their own store. And if you took the refund and decided to go buy it again elsewhere, THEY'D STILL BE SELLING IT!! They obviously didn't go check the product when you first notified them. Who knows how many others got scammed with this bogus attempt at a boxset and how many more others would too if you hadn't mentioned it again for the second time it occurred.

I think that Amazon has improved. I just ordered the box set from them a month or so after this video for my One Piece LARP. Thank you for making this video... You saved me from a lot of heartache. Here's to hoping the bootlegs never return.
This is really surprising to me. I almost considered ordering the box set but ultimately took a gamble and went to Kinokuniya at my local mall and hoped a One Piece box set would be there. Thankfully there was, though it was the 3rd box set which was kind of a funny coincidence as the arcs it contained were where I was at in the anime. Kind of glad I didn't order one online. But I really hope this gets fixed soon. Getting bootlegs is never fun, especially for a product you really want.
bootlegging is a crazy problem on Amazon, but fortunately their returns service doesn't care about anything, so sending stuff back for return is generally painless.
I've only ever gotten box set 4 from Amazon because Dressrosa is my personal favorite arc, and luckily it's very real. But I will definitely keep this video in mind when getting the rest of the box sets. Thanks.
while ive never had this issue with manga off of amazon, I've ran into the issue with model kits and DVDs. while I can agree it could fully be negligence on amazons part on this issue. but there's 12 different retailers selling the box set through amazon but they dont all ship their merchandise through amazon. so I'm not sure how they would fix the bootleg issues, unless they forced every retailer and private seller to ship/store their goods through a amazon warehouse and amazon check every piece of merchandise for tampering/ bootlegs. but ill defiantly have to start paying closer attention either way when i buy box sets in the future just in case

I got a super beat up One Piece box set off Amazon too! It was so banged up and was missing the bonus stuff and was clearly a different box and the volumes looked heavily used. The one I got was from a 3rd party seller and now I'm really careful when I order. My local Kohls takes Amazon returns and it was super fast and I had my credit the same day. I ordered again and I got a real one.

Thankyou for bringing up this issue. I would say its the best time this video came up on my feed. We have Comic-Con happening in India in the mid of Feb and I would be very careful before buying the box. Sellers should not be selling these fake products on a comic-con event but who knows.. we even thought Amazon would be genuine. Similar thing I had encountered while purchasing my Xbox game copies from Amazon. They sent the used copies instead of brand new ones. I had to reason out the differences between the used and new copies on a 20 minute phone call with an Amazon executive. But he was very kind and sent a original sealed product which I asked and I had two used copies of the same game. I repeat, i got used copies twice from Amazon which became my major concern where i decided to write e-mails with pictures explaining the difference to the team. Phew ! I get that bit of struggle you went through in buying the original copies of One Piece.
Yes! It's rough when you aren't expecting a fake but end up with one. I think I've gotten used PS5 games before as well, but at the time I wasn't aware it was a problem. 🤦♀️
Just to make sure, you bought from Amazon both times (not third party sellers), yet they sent you different items? I don't live in the US and I'm planning in ordering this directly from Amazon but this is kinda scary, having a package travel around the world like that waiting two weeks and receiving the wrong one would feel horrible, considering the work and money that implies returning the item from another country. If you hate the old box set then give it to me. I love One Piece endlessly! I have two pieces of advice for you (no pun intended). 1. When you go to barnes and noble, order in advance. If they have box sets at all, they got them all, just not at that store. I lost my One Piece collection when I had to go homeless but when I wanted to buy omnibuses, I called and said I'm gonna buy these titles and pick them up in the store. You can even get them delivered to you. Barnes and Noble do deliver books and products. 2. I mentioned this earlier, just do omnibuses. It's more manga for cheaper and it's not a lot of money thrown down at once. I'm sure you want your book case to be literally arcade perfect but this was a much easier way for me to speed read One Piece. Hope it helps.

Very big difference with the bootleg, imagine a parent buying a fake box set for it's child. The assasination classroom box set, also has velcro. Sounds dumb but it gives a quality touch. So nice!

This happened to me as well! Not only on amazon but some people were selling fake manga in shoppe here in my home country (Philippines) They were showing a clickbait picture of the LEGIT version of the Manga and when it was delivered to me it was thin. The prints were blurry and some pages were not even printed out properly I was so confused at the time as well but thank god i figured it out sooner than later and since i have a few copy of the original printed versions of SJ and Viz i was able to identify that the one i bought was FAKE I should have expected it since it was suspiciously CHEAP compared to the actual Manga Manga costs around : 400-600php The one i bought from a local online shop in Shoppe was only around 200-300php

Easy way to figure out if the manga is fake or not is to check the corners of the manga the side print of the manga would be printed in the the corners of the front and back side of the manga (i am bad at explaining) ☠️
Art supplies on Amazon many times are bootlegs too. I'm friends with the owner of Holbein paints. He said most of the product there is fake and made from inferior materials. Microns too on Amazon and e bay many times are fake and of poor quality. Best bet is to buy from official stores.

You can tell that the vibrant colors are the real deal cause the colors on the “bootleg version” kinda have a fade color to it on the cover. If that makes any sense😂🤦🏻♂️
I got Samsung 64GB microSD cards that turned out to be bootleg from Amazon. They were actually just 2 gb and definitely not samsung. Also got a usb drive that was supposed to be over 200 gb and was again 2gb bootleg usb drive that looked like it had the correct memory size until you started storing things on it. Also a usb storage drive that was supposed to work with linux systems (from a company I bought from before in stores) that just pooped out as soon as you plugged it into the linux system and became an expensive metal paperweight that I think might have been bootleg. Also bootleg hanes period underwear. Also bootleg Thinx ones. It just happens occasionally. I try to just not buy things from amazon when I don't have time to deal with sending stuff back or need something fast and quality. If it's something I don't mind being subpar and need really quickly then some things are ok to get there. Or when I have time to send it back and order something else elsewherein case it doesn't work out.
Did your bootleg boxes have handles on them on any side? Is the handle a good indicator as to whether it's legit? My wife just checked all of our unopen delivery boxes and the sets all had handles.
I got a box set of One Piece that is Identical to the Fake one and it also does not come with the romance dawn and poster in the box..........I had my suspicions too and provided that I had to essentially pay 30 dollars (I got a part refund too) for the fake box set. But it is still pissing me off. Can you link some trustable manga websites to buy books from at a reasonable price
I'll glaaaadly take a fake one piece manga set for free x'D but yeah, that's really annoying the amount of time you had to wait in between each box too. All these companies do is just waste peoples time! Heck, even legit companies do it by making you spend more later on just because their product will fail within a month, or at the very least within a year.

In my opinion, I would be blessed to have those 2 fakes box set. Me and brother are big one piece fans and the fact that you got your money back and another box set, meaning that you got them for FREE. So I could have a box set and my brother can have one and I got my money back 😅
I had the EXACT same experience with amazon amarica. i orderd a set of jujutusu kaisen manga for 120 dollars. was so excited and it turned out they were all bootleg. I was so sad

That’s really shitty and I’m sorry it happened to you. On another note I have had nothing but trouble anytime I order manga off of Amazon. My volumes always arrive looking like they were thrown around like footballs. Amazon refunds me sometimes but only when they feel like I’m still making them enough money. The bottom line is Amazon is a multi billion dollar company and they don’t care about the customers. 🤷🏻♂️ They make enough money off of the middle-aged people who buy 800 items every week for their household, so they can afford to refund something every once in a while, but as soon as they feel like you aren’t making enough profit for them, they will stop helping you or even disable your account.
@@bobamanga yeah I recently had it happen where I received a big package of manga and most were bent to some degree/scuffed and they just said “the most we can do is 20% off”. Pretty unfortunate. :-/ I prefer to order from other places but sometimes Amazon has stuff in stock that other places don’t.

Probably not a good idea. Bootleg books/manga are illegal. She might get in hot water trying to pawn them off to them and file a criminal report

I got a super beat up One Piece box set off Amazon too! It was so banged up and was missing the bonus stuff and was clearly a different box and the volumes looked heavily used. The one I got was from a 3rd party seller and now I'm really careful when I order. My local Kohls takes Amazon returns and it was super fast and I had my credit the same day. I ordered again and I got a real one.
I am so sorry that you had to go through all that trouble! honestly, all I wanted to say is that I would really be interested in a box set(if you are interested in giving them away) as one piece is my favorite anime and I really want to start collecting but I'm broke af and can't really afford it.

Thankyou for bringing up this issue. I would say its the best time this video came up on my feed. We have Comic-Con happening in India in the mid of Feb and I would be very careful before buying the box. Sellers should not be selling these fake products on a comic-con event but who knows.. we even thought Amazon would be genuine.
Similar thing I had encountered while purchasing my Xbox game copies from Amazon. They sent the used copies instead of brand new ones. I had to reason out the differences between the used and new copies on a 20 minute phone call with an Amazon executive. But he was very kind and sent a original sealed product which I asked and I had two used copies of the same game. I repeat, i got used copies twice from Amazon which became my major concern where i decided to write e-mails with pictures explaining the difference to the team.
Phew ! I get that bit of struggle you went through in buying the original copies of One Piece.
Yes! It's rough when you aren't expecting a fake but end up with one. I think I've gotten used PS5 games before as well, but at the time I wasn't aware it was a problem. 🤦♀️

Yes, I did not buy from third party sellers but just regular Amazon. I got the same bootleg boxset twice. The real one came from Barnes and Noble.

If you hate the old box set then give it to me. I love One Piece endlessly! I have two pieces of advice for you (no pun intended).
1. When you go to barnes and noble, order in advance. If they have box sets at all, they got them all, just not at that store.
I lost my One Piece collection when I had to go homeless but when I wanted to buy omnibuses, I called and said I'm gonna buy these titles and pick them up in the store. You can even get them delivered to you. Barnes and Noble do deliver books and products.
2. I mentioned this earlier, just do omnibuses. It's more manga for cheaper and it's not a lot of money thrown down at once. I'm sure you want your book case to be literally arcade perfect but this was a much easier way for me to speed read One Piece.

Very big difference with the bootleg, imagine a parent buying a fake box set for it's child. The assasination classroom box set, also has velcro. Sounds dumb but it gives a quality touch. So nice!

This happened to me as well! Not only on amazon but some people were selling fake manga in shoppe here in my home country (Philippines)
They were showing a clickbait picture of the LEGIT version of the Manga and when it was delivered to me it was thin. The prints were blurry and some pages were not even printed out properly
I was so confused at the time as well but thank god i figured it out sooner than later and since i have a few copy of the original printed versions of SJ and Viz i was able to identify that the one i bought was FAKE
I should have expected it since it was suspiciously CHEAP compared to the actual Manga
Manga costs around : 400-600php
The one i bought from a local online shop in Shoppe was only around 200-300php

I'm not sure.. I just purchased normally on Amazon, not a 3rd party seller or anything, so I'm not sure who Amazon was having it fulfilled by.
Easy way to figure out if the manga is fake or not is to check the corners of the manga the side print of the manga would be printed in the the corners of the front and back side of the manga (i am bad at explaining) ☠️

Art supplies on Amazon many times are bootlegs too. I'm friends with the owner of Holbein paints. He said most of the product there is fake and made from inferior materials. Microns too on Amazon and e bay many times are fake and of poor quality. Best bet is to buy from official stores.

You can tell that the vibrant colors are the real deal cause the colors on the “bootleg version” kinda have a fade color to it on the cover. If that makes any sense😂🤦🏻♂️

I got Samsung 64GB microSD cards that turned out to be bootleg from Amazon. They were actually just 2 gb and definitely not samsung. Also got a usb drive that was supposed to be over 200 gb and was again 2gb bootleg usb drive that looked like it had the correct memory size until you started storing things on it. Also a usb storage drive that was supposed to work with linux systems (from a company I bought from before in stores) that just pooped out as soon as you plugged it into the linux system and became an expensive metal paperweight that I think might have been bootleg. Also bootleg hanes period underwear. Also bootleg Thinx ones.
It just happens occasionally. I try to just not buy things from amazon when I don't have time to deal with sending stuff back or need something fast and quality. If it's something I don't mind being subpar and need really quickly then some things are ok to get there. Or when I have time to send it back and order something else elsewherein case it doesn't work out.
Did your bootleg boxes have handles on them on any side? Is the handle a good indicator as to whether it's legit? My wife just checked all of our unopen delivery boxes and the sets all had handles.
Yes, the handle is a great indicator! My fakes did NOT have handles.

I got a box set of One Piece that is Identical to the Fake one and it also does not come with the romance dawn and poster in the box..........I had my suspicions too and provided that I had to essentially pay 30 dollars (I got a part refund too) for the fake box set. Barnes and Noble, and maybe try Crunchyroll now that Rightstuf is gone. I haven't tried any others, but Rightstuf was my favorite.
I'll glaaaadly take a fake one piece manga set for free x'D but yeah, that's really annoying the amount of time you had to wait in between each box too. All these companies do is just waste peoples time! Heck, even legit companies do it by making you spend more later on just because their product will fail within a month, or at the very least within a year.

I got the box set 1 and 2 of tokyo ghoul, and packaged vizbig volumes 1-12 of vagabond off amazon and never had issues with authenticity thank god. Im sorry you had to go through this. :(

In my opinion, I would be blessed to have those 2 fakes box set. Me and brother are big one piece fans and the fact that you got your money back and another box set, meaning that you got them for FREE. So I could have a box set and my brother can have one and I got my money back 😅

That’s really shitty and I’m sorry it happened to you. On another note I have had nothing but trouble anytime I order manga off of Amazon. My volumes always arrive looking like they were thrown around like footballs. Amazon refunds me sometimes but only when they feel like I’m still making them enough money.
The bottom line is Amazon is a multi billion dollar company and they don’t care about the customers. 🤷🏻♂️ They make enough money off of the middle-aged people who buy 800 items every week for their household, so they can afford to refund something every once in a while, but as soon as they feel like you aren’t making enough profit for them, they will stop helping you or even disable your account.
It does suck that they just don't care after a certain point. 😔
@@bobamanga yeah I recently had it happen where I received a big package of manga and most were bent to some degree/scuffed and they just said “the most we can do is 20% off”. Pretty unfortunate. :-/ I prefer to order from other places but sometimes Amazon has stuff in stock that other places don’t.
