The painting is so pretty ! everything..the background..the roses and watching you do the leaves..we are all very lucky to have so many lessons to watch and learn from you. Thankyou David 🌼
This is stunning! I just love that vintage look about it. The blending of the colours are beautiful. I have roses just like this is my garden but I doubt whether I can achieve a master piece like this but I shall certainly follow all the tips you’ve so generously shared with us and have a go. Thank you so much.
Beautiful ! Thank you for sharing this. Your super casual roses are great, but the explanation of how to paint this piece was very good to understand. I learned how to use warm and colors and how to explain them. Thank you for explaining very carefully.
I really like the art of the past years, it has something very old, artistic and deep. Your picture of roses is very beautiful, the colors are impressive. The artwork will be more perfect if you have a signature right below the picture.
Another inspiring video. I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned from you since finding you about a year ago. Your in-depth explinations are so helpful. Thank you. I have a question about the canvas prep medium. I have had problems every time I have tried to order it. Would a regular mat primer work. I ordered your paints and just love them. Only been painting about 3 years, so much to learn for a senior citizen like me,
That is awesome! Depends on the primer. You can also use a coat of paint. You don't want the surface slick as the roses are a nightmare to paint on a slick surface.
I don't use canvas. You can, but I like to work on wood panels. Especially if the flower have a lot of details. I don't have to worry about the weave in the canvas.
@@JansenArtEducation so how good I try I will never be close to your painting … Canvas is also important like Colors .. can you tell me what should I use .. bcoz wood will be expensive for me
🌷Wow David I really like this video thank you. I have a couple questions. Would you say each rose has maybe about five values in it ? How many values is too few and how many values is too many ? Also you talk a lot about movement and when painting the petals -- well can you explain it another way? Does it mean different values next to each other? Or brush strokes showing the curvature of petal ? Or . . . ? Thanks again for the lovely roses .
How many values you put in a rose depends on the amount of contrast you want in the painting and the importance of that particular rose in the composition. It all comes from color theory. It will change with each painting.
Stunning love to watch you paint love your paintingsDaid just love your Victorian roses

Brilliant! You make it look so easy to do! What is ‘enhancer’, please?
Enhancer? Are you talking about the mediums? Thank you.
Beautiful! I purchased colors from your website but there was no canvas … can you tell me which canvas should I use ?

As smooth a canvas as possible. The weave of the canvas disrupts the flow of the flower petals. So you need very smooth canvas.
@@JansenArtEducation got it ! Thank you 😊

Do you use acrylic paper or board?🦋
I don't paint on paper unless it is a watercolor technique. This is a birch layered board. I also use hardboard or MDF.
