If I wasn't a suburban minimalist with a 4 person family, I would totally be living in an airstream!!! LOVE IT!
FREE TO FRUGAL It's not what ya got, it's what ya do with it! Cheers :)
Great setup. I LOVE the part where your dog travels along with you on your motorcycle - doggles & a scarf - very cute, lol!
Thank you! :)
A polka red dog scarf/goggles are so hilarious details making the dog look like a female lady traveling with him....ha...ha.....))
NoelF. What is the load limit on your airstream and how close to it are you? We have a Bailey Unicorn with a limit of 100 or so kg and cannot carry as much as you do. (The declared limit is 150 something but we've added a motor mover and one or two bits which knocks the limit for six. {37kg for the mover alone}).
Hope to do something similar when we get going but I won't have your panache. ♍️
Tygerlady99 me too that’s adorable 🐶
a tip : you can watch movies on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.
That dog is living life to the fullest (living large)! He steals the show!! I have fell in love with the dog. He has his own everything!! Well behaved too, even travels with scarf and glasses!! What a dog life he lives!
Gr8 set up gr8 van.
NO negatives 👍 stay safe wi covid
I love all that natural light coming in through the windows - and your windows are so clean! What a great tour. I loved this video, Andrew.
I miss your airstream videos. i know things change but still. this was a great bit of kit.
Aren't you just a delightful lad..... Glad I found you, I could listen to your accent all day! Love, love the airstream🚐
Shucks, thank you Diane!
Loved the shot of Dougal in the back pack, scarf and sunnies on the bike, what a dog...
This guy is awesome and seems super chill. Also I like the idea of the folding down bed so you don't need a bigger airstream.
+Avatar Poker Wow, praise indeed, thank you!
Very nice Airstream. There's lots more storage than I would have imagined in such a small space. Dougal is absolutely adorable. Loved the part when he "kissed" you on the nose. My own sweet dog used to do that when he was alive.
omg the shot of your dog on the motorcycle was sooooooo awesome made my day.
I used to do summer caravaning with my partner, he drove and I did the nav.. Totally agree don't follow sat nav , back up with paper routes, we used from caravan club ...best holidays I ever had...
Andy M
Great to see your caravan inside in detail.
I love the part where the dog was on the back with its scarf and everything. Super duper cute!!!!
We have plenty of videos of Dougal on the motorbike on our channel ;@)
I showed my family this video as part of my mission to convince them I can do van life/tiny home living. My siblings spent the whole video mocking me (good naturedly) but as soon as they saw wee Dougal on the motorbike they were sold! Pity they're more convinced a doggy packpack is a good idea than the actual purpose of showing the video, which was to advocate mobile living in the UK... xD Keep up the good work!
Cheers! Good luck in your mission :)
Dougal is a real friend!
It's great to meet a fellow full-time Airstreamer across the pond! Thanks for the peek into your home. There are definitely some major (and more efficient) differences between the Euro and American designs. I envy your heating system and motorbike. Happy travels.
Cheers Seth!
Love the 50 year old pans! It means so much more to have something which is handed down from family :)
I've still got some original melamine etc too! :)
Cant bet some original melamine!! :)
You have gained a new subscriber simply for that shot of Dougal in his rucksack on the motorbike!! Oh and the videos are very interesting...but the adorable Dougal swung it!! ;-)
same! :-)
Me too ;0))
Thanks for the tour Andrew, what a delightful home and streamlined life!
Cheers!
Thanks for this lovely tour of your immaculate home! Very cozy and stylish. Always a pleasure to view your vids.
I love the European caravan layout. Very efficient! Cute dog!
+jean Thanks Jean!
What a cozy home! Thanks for the tour, Andrew!
Absolutely love dougal on the motorbike.
Also thank you for the video showing what you use / need to live simple, informative details! Really appreciate it! and I can't say enough how cute and sweet your dog is!!
Thank you! Glad you found it useful.
Thanks Andrew for the tour around your home, enjoyed the insights into how you organise your airstream. Haven't seen a dog with goggles before, he seemed happy with them, presumably he doesn't knock them off with his paw!!! 😎
No, he LOVES riding the motorbike! They are special goggles for dogs called Doggles :)
Magic , what a cool way to live , in these troubled times you are an inspiration , sod money ,well we need a bit but not so much as you have shown
If I keep watching your videos I will fall in love with your dog. Lovely buddy!
Ha ha! I know that he is the REAL reason most people watch! :)
FANTASTIC WHEN I SEE YOU HEALTHY FOOD AND STEAMER,YOU THE BEST. ALL PEOPLE WANT TO BE WARM,SLEEP ,EAT,AND PRIVATE. YOU HAVE MORE EVERY MORNING OR EVERY WEEK OR MONTH,AT LEAST, YOU SEE DIFFERENT VIEWS.YOU UNDERSTAND THE EARTH IS OURS,NOT JUST A BRICK BOX WITH A SOAP OPERAS INSIDE. ALL VIDEOS IS GOOD QUALITY AND SEEMS YOU VERY STYLISH MAN,GREAT,GREAT,GREAT
Thanks Alex!
Minimalism in a 15 foot teardrop trailer and loving it! 🤗
Really enjoyed this video because he explained everything without some loud music that is sometimes on when ppl are recording and glad to see this without all that extra nonsense and the guy was very clear on everything very nice video keep posting em and love your lad! So precious and I think it's illegal to look so cute and not get arrested lol love your doggie so precious
Jeannie Carmona Thanks Jeannie!
I am doing the same but my caravan is a 93 lunar. so I keep warm with my gypsy stove. I think when you are single, these vans are ideal. I would struggle living with someone in mine, its hard enough falling over 2 dogs haha. I must say you are well organised, my van is like my house, homely haha
Just subscribed....LOVE your gypsy stove and your 'feral' existence. Safe travels.
haha thank you
The Indigo Traveller
Great walk through, thanks for all the new ideas. These coaches will add 20 years to the retiree that is a tradesman.
Cheers James! But the sooner folks can retire, the better, eh? All the best.
love these simple living videos. love your organisation. always excellent information
Great video, i am a fellow brit living in canada and we have just bought our first airstream to tour Canada and the US - great to see someone doing this in Europe - ps love the matching Triumph and truck!
Oh wow, you really ARE living the dream! Sounds amazing. Travel well :)
Fantastic video! I sure wish that I had chosen this way of life way back when.
Love your videos Andrew, they are very informative and enjoyable
A great design!
Brilliant. Love all the bins. Been looking for a full time caravan and like the storage except without bins it's a lot of packing and unpacking plus I imagine it all goes flying around when towing. I figured bins would keep everything tidy and easy to grab.
Really enjoyed that! I moved to a small studio apartment in Mismaloya Mexico and find the simplicity quite rewarding for myself and my dog Gia!
Great to hear, cheers!
Hi Andrew, totally love Dougal's disdain......
It never changes! :)
Wow, I have not seen one before, thank you for showing us round. I am really impressed. I presume you are still living in it in the warmer months, I will have to see your posts since this one. But it certainly gives food for thought.
Nice to see how you're using your Airstream across the pond. We're wrapping up a years-long renovation of a 22 footer from 1957... look forward to more of your videos, and contributing some of our own. Happy travels, Andrew!
Brad Cornelius Oh wow! I love the renovated classic Airstreams (always drooling at the Hofarc pictures) but I have neither the skills nor time to do my own, hence getting a new one out of the box! Look forward to catching up with your adventures, cheers!
Oh, you did the right thing for sure! You were able to get out and enjoy yours from Day one.
As for Hofmann, we stayed in one of their units at Santa Barbara's AutoCamp a couple years ago... highly recommend it next time you're stateside! A fun, vintage experience in a beautiful town.
Thanks for a wonderful and informative video Andrew 👌 love your little doggie too! 🐶 I'm a first time viewer and looking forward to following your adventurous life, thank you! Jen from Australia 🖐🌏
Haha Dougal on the motorbike is hilariously adorable! :)
Great tour. Digging the bike.
Thanks for sharing!
Peace! 🌈🌈
Thanks for the awesome tour. You certainly have an awesome home! Love it and your dog is adorable!
Thank you!
Thanks for making this video, great stuff. I've lived on and off in vans and am considering switching to a travel trailer. The trick is doing it with a motorcycle which I also want to do, so it is fantastic to see how you pull it off.
Jeremy Vaught Cheers Jeremy! A van would probably be more practical for the bike, but I like having a 4x4 for the remote places I go.
I love it! By the by, your potatoes will last longer if you take them out of that bag and put them in a brown paper one. Unless you eat them quickly like I do. ;)
+Beth Ann I had no idea Beth...what a great tip, thank you!
That right we make the rules.
I really loved your tour. The windows in the front really bring the outside in. This is why I love airstream. I watched a Airstream video from the factory. They said European Airstream are not as wide as American units. your roads must be smaller. Americans always do it up big.
Your unit in the states would be call an International. I like that look of the clear slide doors.
For some reason watching some of your past videos I thought you were a teacher that took off traveling in the summer. Have you always been a full timer? You are sort of my hero. My goal is to be a full timer Airstreamer in a few years. I want to travel the US. Thanks again!
Mark Hoffman Me? A hero? Oh shucks! Thanks Mark, but I'm just a regular guy who enjoys camping so much I just stopped going home! My trailer is indeed an International 532 - but as all Euro trailers are International (bar one or two Safaris)! we take it as a given. I'm sure if you've seen some of my touring videos you'll see how much narrower are the roads in the U.K. compared with the US. I work 50% which is how I manage to compress my work hours. After all, my outgoings are low :)! Hope you get on the road in your Airstream soon!
I really like this, you've got loads of room! From the outside it looks really deceptive, but it's actually really well sized. I was going to ask how you take your dog on your motorbike, and you answered that as well! Fabulous.
Honest and inspiring. Thanks !!
Awesome setup; awesome dog!
great comment on "there are no rules" to living simply
Richard Finch Cheers Richard! A forthcoming Living Simply video is under the working title 'Lighten up!' and will expand on that theme :)
Really enjoyed this, shared on our Facebook group for others to enjoy.
james crowder Thanks James!
Really great video,Andrew. Thank you so much for sharing.
+foodmachine factory Glad you enjoyed it, cheers!
Great video, Andrew! Thanks for sharing your space in such detail! All best in your travels!
Scott Odom You're welcome Scott, many thanks!
I would of got a van with a fixed bed if you are living in it. I do like how you say you have had caravans in the past but you now have a airstream. I know people with airstreams don't call them caravans but they are still a caravan.. Good reviews. keep up the good work.
Thank you Andrew for sharing so much! What about your water? Laundry at a launderette? Do you take everything out of the shower in order to shower? If you aren't hooked up to a water source, how long will your water last? How about waste water when you're off-grid? I'll check your other videos to see if these questions are answered. Cheers! Super inspiring video!
Good job with your trailer
Thank you, Andrew, for this video. I live in the US and am just starting to look for the perfect Airstream for me. The thought of them being anywhere had not yet crossed my mind since the American made company manufactures their trailers in the State of Ohio. It is good that they are found elsewhere. I am looking to live more simply (minimalistically) and was pleased that you gave us a tour of your home. However, because I am trying to envision myself in a caravan such as yours it would be nice if you showed us how you set up your table that is so keenly stowed away into the wall. Would you be willing to do that? Thank you.
Fantastic.Really enjoyed this.Hi to Dougal!
Very nice/smart !
Thanks for sharing.
your doggie on the motorcycle was quite cute and humrous. you could tidy your kitchen and bath a bit more by removing redundant items like certain cleansers, bowls, plates, multiple pots, etc.
+Raw LawGirl Oh trust me, there is plenty more stuff I could jettison on top of that. I've come a long way, but still a long way to go..,
Andrew Ditton I get it. Everyone is at a different level. I was a minimalist before it ever became popular. Although I work full time in a professional career and earned three college degrees, I have always been lazy in the sense that I hate taking care of STUFF. The less I have, the less I have to do. Call me lazy maybe more than a minimalist. LOL!
Raw LawGirl Oh I totally get that - laziness is definitely my main motivation too! ;)
Excellent presentation! Thank you!
Thank YOU! :)
Really enjoyed seeing you and your lovely dog, admire you’re lifestyle! All the best, Stu ......
Cheers Stu!
Thank you for sharing this, very well done 👍👍👍
Thanks Keith!
Love your videos. Not sure caravaning is for me but came across your vids as I was looking at traveling to Islay to explore some of the whisky distilleries.
Cheers Andy! Enjoy Islay, I was there last year but was studying not vlogging.
Great vid mate , nice to see how you live the Dream on your own terms :-)
Really nice video. I've just suscribed. Love your Airstream and your doggie. Sooo cute. I am downsizing to a very small apartment so I find your compact organization inspiring.
...then my job here is done! :) Good luck with the downsizing, and thanks for subscribing.
Love it, live it!
Loving your videos Andrew, especially this one. I feel that you have the right idea about life. Your caravan looks really airy and light. It's nice. I've been considering full timing myself as I have only rented privately all my life. It's good that you're staying on sites in the winter. I think that's what I would do. Thanks for sharing.
Campervan Mike Cheers Mike! As I say, this is the first of a series and will hopefully roll all the while I have ideas. All the best.
Great vlog. Very interesting to see the detailed lay of the land of the Airstream. Also great idea for the leads in freezer bags and to double up the uses for sizes of glasses so ill 'borrow' those two tips if I may lol
Borrow away John! Thanks for getting in touch.
Love your home ❤
Thanks for the tour - I've been wondering about your van since I started watching your vlogs. What a great caravan. I love its clean lines and all that cupboard space. I only have a small campervan with a raising roof so end up with a lot of stuff that won't fit in the cupboards and has to be shifted round when I make up the bed. It suits me as it's not much bigger than a car so I can take it along narrow roads and into car parks. I'm not a full time van liver as I love my garden and growing veg too much.
Ah yes, I do miss a garden Linda! I full-timed in a 12ft x 6ft caravan for three years in my early 30s, and all that stuff-moving you talked about got too tiresome after a few months - OK for holidays though! I definitely vote for the freedom and spontaneity of small campers over having more stuff in larger rigs! All the best.
Yes I keep the van stocked up from March to October so I can take off anytime and as Im almost retired I have the freedom to do it. There's still so much of Britain I want to explore.
That's the way to do it! Sounds like you have an idea for a RUclips series there Linda, and you have all winter to plan it! ;)
Definitely no RUclips vids from me. I like to get away from all that when I camp and anyway who'd want to watch me staring at a Scottish sunset for an hour or waiting for the elusive otter?
Ahh, that's a good point. I'll never forget the otter who just bold as brass walked in front of the Airstream on the Isle of Mull...and the next day I saw a sea eagle! Magic. But of course, no camera, but some things are more important just to 'see' and experience rather than record :)
Thank you for your videos! I'd love watching how you travel with your dog and cooking in small space. I'd love to learn how you stay fit while living in caravan.
Thanks Izabela! My fitness 'routine' is really - er - simple. Moderation in everything and at least an hour per day outside walking with the dog. Taking the stairs instead of the lift, walking instead of driving short distances...That's about it!
Thanks Andrew!
I enjoyed your "home tour." I'd like to know more about efficient cooking when living full time in an Airstream.
It appears you have a system that works for you. Thank you for sharing ! and by all means..Stay safe !
+Thoughts In Passing Thank you! Indeed, it's all about what works well for you, we're all different and that's what makes the world interesting.
Wonderful, free and decluttered way to live. I hope we get a vlog of the Time Machine too (4:05)!
Ah! Beat me to it. What on Earth is that? Perhaps it was just to check we were paying attention.
Well done my friend.
Nice video, love that you love your dog so much. Is there a way to ask you more ?'s Thanks Scott
+Scott MacDonald Hopefully I'll be covering most questions in vlogs over the next few months. Otherwise leave a comment and if I can't answer it, hopefully someone else can! Cheers.
This is the ultimate "Mobile 'MidCentury' Minimalist" Classy Living.
What a shame they make these anymore!! Fantastic set up and I love that mainstream 💖💖💖
Hello Andrew . Just " found" your videos on Utube and I think they are brilliant ! 😃 . I really look forward to reading many more of them .
Tonight, after watching this vid it's more than clear to me that I pack ( or should I say , stuff ! ) far too many things into our caravan when journies are planned ! So much so it's hard to find stuff yet alone access it. So guess what ? One of my main jobs tomorrow will be force myself to take out a lot of things i have already packed into the van for our journey down to the Dordogne next week . I am a " belt and braces " type of woman , so " just in case this happens or that happens " I usually pack zillions of the same or similar things ! Hope I will now be able to follow your example 😂
Thanks for the message Sandy. Do you want to know the best way into scaring yourself into travelling light? Take your caravan to a weighbridge. In reality, because so much was on the Airstream 'options' list (including the factory fitted awning, don't get me started...) a visit to a weighbridge revealed that I had a useable payload of 120kg. Now, when you think that a case of clothes you take on an aeroplane weighs about 20kg... yes, it all adds up VERY quickly! As long as you have a spare wheel and breakdown insurance, you don't really *NEED* much else in the way of spares. Airstream friends of mine had their loo break in Morocco. Airstream airfreighted the new parts to the campsite in Morocco and they were sorted in a few days. Now go forth and declutter! :)
great info thanks am looking to take a couple of years out for my self good info thanks
Another great video Andrew loved some of the features of your Airstream and your certainly well organised, especially good to see you have the Alde heating as we bought a new van a few month ago to replace our old 2004 first ever caravan and have loved how good the Alde heating in our new van has been on our first trip I look forward to your next video
Jason Gallagher Cheers Jason! Glad you liked it. The idea of this 'Living Simply' series is to reach beyond just caravanners, but as I'm actually doing it IN a caravan then there will be a lot of cross-over and hopefully enough content to keep everyone happy :)
Nice Airstream.
what I would miss most - even if it is not needed - is a place to put books. Cuz they make a room come alive so much. How do you see that? Thanks for the tour! Nicely done!
Thank you!!! I'm a full-time airstreamer, too; your setup is beautiful, or rather, 'simply beautiful' :o) You adjust to the British (?) weather, I adjust to Arizona (U.S.) weather, you use your car for storage, I use a shed which also keeps my Kawasaki Nomad from getting too much sand. Otherwise, same lifestyle and LOVING it! Thank you for sharing :o)
Oh wow, thank you for your message. I have a friend in SoCal who is thinking of doing the same as you. Not sure I could cope with the Arizona heat myself though. It's funny, but when I went to visit Jackson Center, the workers on the line were REALLY puzzled by just one aspect of the European Trailers as opposed to the US trailers they built. Nothing to do with size or finish... they just didn't understand the fact that Air Conditioning units are NOT fitted to Euro trailers (although they are an option). But then we DO have great heating systems! ;@)
Andrew Ditton .... lol, AC is absolutely needed here :o) It is the harsh desert climate that challenges not only a trailer's AC but also its refrigerator :o) Otherwise, for those of us needing independence, this lifestyle is IT :o) Thank you for responding, all the best to you and Dougal :o)
Good i like airstream
Love your dog on the motorcycle!! Could you show what you carry your puppy in sometime? I have a pug named Fiona that I want to bicycle with when I'm rving in the states. Thanks!
Hi Kari, if you search 'Dougal the Biker Dog' on my channel you'll see how I do it there. Thanks a lot!
Combs! lol :-) just found your channel...great stuff 👍
Welcome aboard and thanks for tuning in! ;@)
I loved your video Andrew. We are hoping to get our new van late January, I'll do a short video of it for you.
Brilliant! The more people getting their vans on RUclips the better! :)
Another fascinating video Andrew, thanks for all your content. Really enjoying learning about life on the road. I'm a video producer who's passionate about promoting green and sustainable living so I really like the living simply philosophy you talk so much about. I also really like your production style... will continue to watch more of your films, thank you.
Thank you! Although remember I'm just muddling through and making it up as I go along... ;@) Enjoy the rest of the vids, and I hope you notice an evolution in style... just not as much evolution as I would have liked by now ;@)
Hey don't be hard on yourself. ;-) We are all evolving with style and changing what and how we film. After every shoot I think, did I get a cutaway of this or that, or I could've improved the sound or the composition. That's what makes it fun to do.... you're always learning. Are you going to be at the NEC show in Feb? I'm based in the Midlands it'd be great to catch up. PM me.
I love the dog
EVERYONE loves the dog! :)
Very nice and neat shack of wheels, thank you for sharing.
The cabinet where is the TV antenna can be used for your camera gear of to free another locker to place it.
If it is no good for that application I woulds store the bottles of my fav drink
Freetasman Good tip! To be rid of that aerial would mean installing an FM aerial in its place as I do listen to the radio (and the TV aerial has FM built in) and I've never got around to it as the gain in space would be minimal compared to the amount it would cost someone like me who wouldn't have a clue how to do it himself! :-/
thanks love it from California
We are planning to buy an Airstream and follow your lead...we are now considering a twin bed after seeing ur setup... i would like to know how u set up your bed to become a king bed
+Jawad Nabulsi Airstream doesn''t make this layout any more but you might get a used example. If it does not have the front chest then it will have U shaped searing no the double bed will be larger.
Thank you for introducing us to your Airstream. I realize that your model isn't made anymore but can you tell me what the length of it is (from hitch ball to back bumper) as it looks to be about the size I am looking for myself.
Thanks for sharing ,,,love it .I purchased a old 72 Travelux trailer (canadian version ) of the air stream .i have striped it all out and was wondering how to rebuilt it for maximum usage .well you have shared your home and i got few ideas . many thanks again Lilly
Thanks for your message Lilly! Good luck with the Travelux - have you considered vlogging about your progress? I'd be interested in that! :) Good luck with it.
Well done!!!
+Ken Jencks Cheers Ken!
