- This Friday, I announced the third installment of Dubstep from Discord Samples. Basically, everyone in the discord server could send me any of their samples for me to make dubstep out of. This time around, we're making color bass though. I've compiled a massive amount of samples, so thank you to everyone who sent some in!

@@Ganimedmusic oh yeah there wasn't a single person who sent in hihats, crashes, any of that so I had to make them from a snare sound lol. It's there but it doesn't shine through all too well 😂

With some finetuning, this thing would be something i would listen to on a daily basis... the harmonics in the colorbass are FIRE (both from musical- and enjoyment perspectives)

Can you please do an advanced tutorial on how you use the vocoder to make color bass like that? I understand the concept I think. I try to run the vocoder with some serum presets and it always just ends up sounding like garbage. It looks like you just kinda slapped a random pad in there and it seemed to work right away but mine never sound like that when I do that lol
In this situation, I used the super stabby percussion bass as the main signal, paired with a pad, which is a good combo to get a really nice melodic stab right off the bat. I made sure both signals (pad & percussion bass) had enough high end and low end content to make it feel full, and then when I ran it through the vocoder it ended up sounding pretty bad until I turned down the depth and the volume of the vocoder to stop it from clipping, from which point I OTT'ed it to bring back the volume and make it nice and crunchy. Hope that answers your question! :)

you should try using zynaptiq morph as a vocoder ive seen au5 using it and it sounds 10000000x cleaner than abletons vocoder

Ngl those melodic elements were hard to figure out. The rhythm wasn't super clear with all the layers. Vocoding stuff always does that for me. It's weirdly peaky and inconsistent.
