Amazing tutorial! Can't wait to go home and try out the sparkle rack on my latest project. I've been making color bass's out of phase plant using their built in resonaters to make chords
You can also make sparkles with Spectral Resonator by throwing it on a sound, midi link it to some chords (preferably a supersaw), put it on Poly 16, then use the Granular mode, transpose it up with the Transp. knob, then you can play around with the Decay, Mod Rate, and Shift to get the desired sparkles. Extra: You can also add a Corpus before the Spectral Resonator in the chain, midi link it to your chords as well, put it on Tube, enable Frequency and put it on Low, then you can play around with the Transpose, Decay and Radius till it sounds good. Now you can also add your delays to increase the sparkles, and some reverb to make it more dreamy-like. Have fun, enjoy this sound design tip you won't find anywhere else cause it's something I made myself.
This was dope and gave me a lot of inspiration! In the past Ive taken a quick saw chord stab and used that as an impulse response in a convolution reverb and applied that to bass sounds to get a color bassy effect!
@@ashFB2B so i create multiple chains all with instances of the reverb with different chords in an audio effect rack and then map a macro knob to the mute button of each chain. Then in the mapping settings i just have them in different "zones". Like the first chain/chord would be 1-50, the second would be51-100 etc etc. its pretty dumb but it works lol
Another way to make watery sounds is just getting a reverbed sine wave (reverb mix at 100%) and arpeggiating it really fast (random notes works as well but its easier to arpeggiate if u want chords, sounds best if the notes are mostly random) U can keep it like that and just automate volume (or add delay as well) But what i like to do is use a spectral compressor set to sidechain matching and sidechain it to a bass 13:12 CATTTTT ok anyway yea the bass/es then become water
Also resonators definitely Just load up vital, keytrack a comb filter (-48 semitones so it's in key), route the sampler to it, put Ur bass/bass loop and draw Ur chords, it's so easy U can also arpeggiate that if U use legato Changing chords does get difficult if using a loop tho
Hey ash, Is it ok if I use this bass as a template for a track I have in mind? I wanna get into making colorbass/riddim because of they’re visceral styles, it’ll really mean a lot 🙏
This might be like out of context but.. I noticed that artists use like a high pass for their leads, how do u fill that low end? With a sub or like noise? Awesome vid btw, it could help me:)
Hi! Fast question, over there. When you put your kick & snare together you mix them (transients, frequency balance etc.) so they don't cross the 0 db, or you just slap a limiter on it? And great tutorial of course! I especially enjoyed the recipe for these Sharks ish sparkles, bigggg thanks for that!🙌
amazing video once again ash!. i had a question btw my ableton seems to run slow on my PC even tho I have the best specs possible can you help me with that ? i had fl studio and it seemed to run fine. roaming around in arrangement view when there are some layers is glitchy and adding a new midi or audio tracks takes a bit longer then it should. any help would be appreciated.
@@ashFB2B I haven’t played with it much, but I think you could use an automation clip to move the start time of the impulse around with a long enough IR. But that’s just a thought 😬 could also just keep separate instances of the reverb loaded with separate chords 🤷🏽♂️

i will try this

yea convolution rules for sound design but how are you automating it to follow a chord progression?

Man I cannot explain how much seeing you produce and explain has helped my songs. I appreciate it Ash!
you got this
2:51 idk if you're aware of this but if you get rezonator by xynth you can control it using midi
Thanks for the tutorial Ash! You really make things easy to understand :)
:D thank u
This channel is GOLD!!!!!!
im actually bronze 2
True
i am very happy i was recommended to you you are very in depth you dont hide secrets or show mediocre results like most creators
just saying but i love the kick and the snare

as long as u don't straight up copy it and add your own style ur good to go

ash you are the best!

Great run through! Personally I like using convolution reverb for most of my color bass work 😅
yes!! forgot about that - is there a way to automate the IR so that it follows a chord progression?
