Two weeks ago Oliver was in the woods unknown singing out to the world, then this, 28M views on RUclips in 12 days. The lyrics touch us because we know it's truth. The resonator guitar touches us because it harkens back to a simpler time. His voice touches us because it has passion and a cry in his powerful voice that we feel in our hearts. He is touching the heart of the world wherever an incompetent corrupt conflict/division creating government and greedy corporations abuse and steal from working people. That's everywhere in the world today. Lord, it's a damn shame.

I don't regularly listen to country music but this song was powerful the first time I heard it. You can tell in his voice that this is his real and honest lived emotions. Anybody with a pulse, or who has had to work work, this song is gonna resonate. He shot this on his property with a mic and Radio West Virginia dudes shot the video and produced the song a little. Not a lot because you actually hear the bugs/locusts buzzing deep in the background Sheesh! Anyway, he's got other songs that are dope but his song "I Gotta Get Sober" is the real ish. Thanks! #OliverAnthonyMusic

It is a sadly timeless song. 100 years ago the Battle of Blair Mountain happened, the largest labor uprising in US history. And it happened in that part of the world, Appalachia. And it was coal miners, wish politicians would look out for miners.
Those labor movements led to gains that eventually, along with other factors, got us into the 50s and 60s when you could get a livable wage job with a high school diploma and get a house, a car, and raise a family on a single income. The decline since the 70s has been dramatic and we are right back to where we were in 1921 when the Battle of Blair Mountain happened.

No, back in the 50's the country's economy was cranking as the U.S. was the only industrialized power that hadn't been flattened by the war. Our government hadn't been captured by the greedy Europeans yet(Kennedy assassination) and the average CEO only made 30x that of the average worker. We still had the traditional American classless society.
Now we have a European style 2 class society and because the European "Elite" that run the show (Rothschilds, Soros's ect.) have failed to take over the world(globalism) they can no longer afford to pay us, the new "working class" enough money to survive.
"Organized" Labor is one of their scams. All of the Union Bosses slavishly support the "Democrat" Rich Men North of Richmond.
Don't get it confused, we know exactly what's up.

BS. What got us into the relative prosperity in the 50s and 60s was the GI Bill and about 300,000 less citizens, mostly men due to WW2 and another 37,000 in the korean war. All at a time when we had barely 140 million in population. Basically, anyone who wanted a job had one and had good pay because the job market was that good due in large part to the Marshal Plan sending US goods over to Europe and east Asia. Labor did jack for all of that. In fact, the only people that "won" on Blair Mountain were corrupt government officials, including President Harding. Blair had absolutely nothing to do with perceived prosperity of the 50s and 60s. I say "perceived" because Appalachia was not prosperous during that time period as you implied, and has, in fact, remained among the poorest areas east of the Mississippi to this day.

    • @billbradley4878
      @billbradley4878 Год назад

@@Kainis80 I was speaking more in terms of the rise in labor organizing, the actual jobs were due to multiple factors, not the least of which was that the US was not rebuilding post WWII like much of Europe and so we took the manufacturing lead in the western world, providing a boom of manufacturing jobs.
And Appalachia did not see the same success as other parts of the nation in that era, also true. But the idea that labor organizing in no way impacted the wages of the laborers filling those manufacturing positions is not accurate.
What Blair Mountain was was a flashpoint of a specific time period in US history when the conflict between labor and owner was coming to a head, and I was comparing then to now because it seems like we are entering a time when it is going to come to a head again in some way. The wealth gap is larger now than it was then.

I was moved almost as much by your gentleness/concern and honesty in the review as I am by his work. You showed so much respect for the artist/performance and the topics he addressed it was powerful. I agree with the assessment re homeless/vs welfare. A segment of the media really clung to that line as "punching down" when it was the opposite. He didn't say someone shouldn't be able to eat what they want. He said TAXPAYERS shouldn't be paying for unhealthy food, let alone providing resources to someone who clearly has more then enough access to food at the EXPENSE of those who legit need help and aren't getting it. It's a combination of tax fraud/misapplied resources because you are correct - there is a fixed budget for every welfare program. So, every instance of abuse is literally taking food, housing, etc. out of the hands of legit needs and that should be taken seriously out of respect for the taxpayers AND the potential recipients.

It's been such a long time since you two have popped onto my feed, have to admit I forgot all about you and I consider you two of my favorite reactors. I'm scrolling through your videos from the past 6 months to see what you've been reacting to and why the algorithm hasn't sent you my way. Have you guys reacted to Hi Ren? Or anything by Ren? I'm sure you've seen him making waves with all the other reactors, are you deciding to avoid him because you don't want to hop onto the latest thing? If thats the case I completely understand your hesitation but I implore you to reconsider. Ren is the kind of artist that you both would fall in love with. Creative, smart, funny, talented, multi dimensional, rapper, singer, songwriter. His song Hi Ren is essentially one of the best pieces of.musical theater I have ever seen. I've been watching music reactions pretty religiously for nearly a decade now and ren is the first artist I've seen who makes reactors bring other people onto their channel just to show them Rens music ..and I don't mean one or two reactors I mean dozens of the most popular reactors. Black pegasus has probably had 15 people on at this point to introduce them to ren. If you decide to give him a look I'll give you my personal list of songs to check. Start with Hi Ren. It's his seminal work and the song that put him on the map. It's a back and forth saga between himself and his demons. Portraying the personal struggle he went through while suffering from undiagnosed lym disease. I believe from about 17 to 27. He's early 30s now and finally getting the right treatment.
Next you could go in alot of directions, if you want to hear him rappity rap to an old school hip hop beat you can go with The Hunger, wildfire or what you want. But if it was up to me I think Genesis is the pick here. Well produced rapping with a sick video.
Next I would check out his live buskin performance of I shot the sherrif/road to Zion/ hiphop. It's the one he wears red suspenders in.
After that bit of fun I would check out Jenny's tale/ screeches tale/ violets tale......in that order, all at once. They are three parts to one story.
After that you can have some
Fun and check.out power, humble, the ocean/ fire / suicide / murderer. Go nuts. Every song is a bop. Thanks guys .love ya

Regarding the obese part - there's a RUclips channel that goes into Appalachia to interview people and he digs into the epidemic of the current generation that just doesn't work and instead "collects checks".
He's talking to people in their 20's who are saying something like up to 50% of their graduating class turned 18 and applied for welfare and disability. Their parents collect welfare, disability and social security, so they turn 18 and start applying for assistance.
He asked "what disabilty checks are they getting at 18?" and one person replied he knows of a friend on disability for anxiety and another for back problems. I'm sure obesity is a common one as it would likely give you anxiety and back problems.
Then they just live with their parents and bring in 600-800 a month. Thats preferable to many people vs working in today's climate.

Sadly, there are many people out there taking from the system because they have no desire, no motivation to work and they have figured out how to play rhe game to their advantage while meek or embarrassed people who have hit hard times dont even know what is available to them and work some crap job or 3, until they drop. I know several elderly whose pathetic social security barely cover their rent and desperately need assistance. Have a chat with some of them and hear how they believe rhe people in power just hope they die soon so they are one less problem for power mad, greedy politicians. This country is messed up and the bottom line is an alarming number of people care only about themselves and what they can get and this inflation and insane taxation multiplies it all by 100! I see it firsthand and it makes my heart ache.😢

Right now we are in the ebb and flow of a downturn in the economy.

*You have missed the point of the "welfare passage" in the song's lyrics and the whole of the song.*
You talk like government is right but people are "taking advantage of it" and "of the system." That is not what he sang about at all.
Oliver's point is this: Fatties are taking advantage of their neighbors, their young male neighbors who are worked to the bone for bullshit pay, who must pay those taxes imposed upon them by AN EVIL GOVERNMENT, i.e., the rich men north of Richmond, these young men who end up in the grave early because everyone is kicking t hem down.
It is the men of government who are causing all of the problems and they can do it only because they get enough support from the people who are on the receiving end of their largess.
Social democracy, i.e., imposed income taxation to fund welfare for political favoreds, is the true evil. Politicians would have zero power and could not do the bidding of billionaires without it.
Republicanism, the original design of the USA, from 1781 to 1912, is what made the USA great, what fueled the westward expansion, what gave right to the foundation of everything enjoyed today: electricity, telecom, air travel, automobile, steel, etc.
Definitely the hottie gf / wife has the brains and not the bearded guy.
