This is a brilliant scene, you can see Tony doubting big Pussy without a word being said, it shows what's on his mind. And Puss did seem like he was trying too hard to seem like a "criminal" by explaining some scam, with the hopes of throwing off suspicion
he's not throwing off suspicion. he's wearing a wire and explaining the scam in detail for the tape, since the other guys are talking about it, to incriminate tony and sil.
I guess he also threw a suspicious look at Pussy because he had never come up with such bright schemes before, and it seemed like he was told to tell this story
Puss was the only one at the table speaking out loud and clearly in detail about a criminal conspiracy. In that world, everybody's normally VERY shy about saying anything that could possibly be caught on tape and used as voice evidence. So Tony's repressed instinct is screaming to him, "WHY IS PUSSY NOT CONCERNED ABOUT SPEAKING SO OPENLY ALL OF A SUDDEN?" But his love for his best friend makes him try to brush it off as Puss just telling Foodio how a scam works. Overnight he ceases to repress it and it's right there and can't be ignored any longer. It makes him physically ill, which he attributes to food poisoning.
I love this scene all the nuances and foreshadowing is beautiful. Look how tony gets the wheels turning, and that food rape. Also when Pussy laughs right after tony says all my enemies are smoked. Great dialogue legend actors. That rogan joke is hypocritical and highlarious.
Seeing lots of people recognise that Pussy is explaining the scam too clearly, that Patsy arrives (with a black bag) after "all my enemies", and even that the scene starts with a fish, and ends with the discomfort around Big Puss, but I think there might be even one more layer to it - any cooks think that big fish that takes up all that screen space is "smoked"?
Yea that fish definitely isn’t cooked and it’s definitely not a coincidence that the waiter bumped into Tony with the fish, which comes back around during Tony’s fever dreams.
the beginning at the indian restaurant when the Stones song starts, Big Pussy laughing almost maniacally, Tony puffing the cigar, the Indian guy going "to business!". that is classic Sopranos for me
Ive never seen food like this. Looks So fricken good ! I want to expand my culinary horizons beyond the typical stuff I eat. I'll make pretty good dishes like lasagna, shrimp Alfredo, steak fajitas, but I want to eat some of these dishes on the sopranos that ive never even heard of.
Anyone notice the waiter in black carrying the big grey COOKED fish to the table for everyone to eat? Anyone notice Tony take a slight inquiring glance at the fish? Did anyone notice that Tony wore all black and was carrying a big grey rat (fish) soon to be cooked, in his crew?
I genuinely feel like Patsy could easily have been involved with Tony’s death. Right after Tony says all his enemies are smoked, Big Pussy (an enemy) laughs then Patsy walks in only to be talked down to like a schoolboy in front of other made men
Like this scenes so much. Perhaps they showing us on what we should actually focus in our lives. Spending time with great friends, being happy about our family and working and earning money(not like they of course). Unfortunately, Tony failed to realize that, instead focusing on his misery, impulses and hunger to power.
0:01 the statue is Hindu goddess Kali. Yeah you can find Her in many Indian restaurants but She destroy evil to protect innocent. I don’t think it’s unintentional
Once again the subtle symbolism and the deeper meaning behind objects never fails to disappoint when it comes to The Soprano's. Lets start with the huge cooked fish that comes out in the indian restaurant obviously foreshadowing big pussys demise and him sleeping with the fishes, but also its a nod to GF1 when luca brazzi gets killed the doors on the outside of the bar are fish right before the turk slays him. then you have sil eating zucchini flowers...a dead plant...something that was once blossoming but now is not anymore...aka tony and big pussys friendship. And finally their discussing a phone scam where lines are being cut off and disconnected just like their association with big puss. Amazing show. And btw i just farted.
Give me an f-ing break. If they'd had pork you'd say he was swine or cooperating with the pigs. Steak would symbolize his beef with Tony. Chicken that he was afraid of prison.

It honestly doesn’t even look cooked at all but hard to tell.
Yea that fish definitely isn’t cooked and it’s definitely not a coincidence that the waiter bumped into Tony with the fish, which comes back around during Tony’s fever dreams.
wow! are you some kinda literature / writing professor? That pickup is sublime. Also, u think yer better'n me?
Holy crap, The Sopranos comment section is always like numerology. You can make up any pattern out of thin air that you want.
@@skipads5141 that description is still pretty good though, call it sublime
"That's facking beautiful!"
"HEY I'M TRYING TO FUCKIN TALK OVER HERE"
the beginning at the indian restaurant when the Stones song starts, Big Pussy laughing almost maniacally, Tony puffing the cigar, the Indian guy going "to business!". that is classic Sopranos for me
Who is singing? Doesn't sound like Jagger
@@TheJubanne1 Keith Richards
This is my favorite episode of Sopranos, it is just magnificent.
Well that explaines what happened to me back in the 90s why my calling cards never lasted lol
Unbelievable... you gotta retaliate now.
@@tsoprano2765 problem is phone cards aren't really a thing and this was over 20 years ago like are those people even still alive
@@ryanh4775 calling cards are still a thing ....
Most of them but I happen to know for a fact that the guy who played big pussy isn't his seventies
Hey thanks for these!!
If it were to have worked, you'd have to admit Puss' screwover plan was brilliant lol.
Love how the camera went to Sil after Tony's "Prince Rogaine" line.
the way patsy walks in right after tony says that line makes me think the writers had him kill tony in that final episode.....
Been looking for this clip!
“Those mussels never had the makings of a varsity entree”
@Ricky Homan Get off your shine box
There was nothing anyone could do. Tony was a made guy, and the mussels weren't.
@Ricky Homan literally go fuck off u twat
...of a varsity colon entry. Indian food, too.
One of my favorite scenes ever
Ive never seen food like this. Looks So fricken good ! I want to expand my culinary horizons beyond the typical stuff I eat. I'll make pretty good dishes like lasagna, shrimp Alfredo, steak fajitas, but I want to eat some of these dishes on the sopranos that ive never even heard of.
I wouldn't.You might end up looking as big as some of the cast.
0:17 wat type of fish is that
Anyone notice the waiter in black carrying the big grey COOKED fish to the table for everyone to eat? Anyone notice Tony take a slight inquiring glance at the fish? Did anyone notice that Tony wore all black and was carrying a big grey rat (fish) soon to be cooked, in his crew?
Or, Tony's table has eaten the same fish dish and is annoyed by his chair being bumped but in such a good mood that he doesn't bother with it.
@wrgvkrizl puzifzx thank you! Fuck some of these comments are beyond dumb.
every time a good scene comes along, so does the great music 🤩
“Slowride”
I genuinely feel like Patsy could easily have been involved with Tony’s death. Right after Tony says all his enemies are smoked, Big Pussy (an enemy) laughs then Patsy walks in only to be talked down to like a schoolboy in front of other made men
Patsy and Paulie for sure.
The way Silvio says "Marone" when Tony put the money in his jacket always makes me laugh...
hes always mocking furio, this is what tony caught on to at first, which he realized that it was all an act to cover up the ongoing suspicion on him.
What do you mean? He stomped those grapes himself?
@@MrDolarhyde88 the fact that he didnt crack that joke made tony realize hes a rat. lol
Fooodio
2:13 Tony is like wait wtf is he wearing a wire
Eating two full meals back to back is the most sopranos thing ever.
That's how some mafioso did it in real life, 2 dinners.
@@hunlag4700 bad ass. I can barely keep down a mcnugget these fat guys were legendary.
What a great song.
Love the track by Keith Richards
Thats FOCKING beautiful !
Like this scenes so much. Perhaps they showing us on what we should actually focus in our lives. Spending time with great friends, being happy about our family and working and earning money(not like they of course). Unfortunately, Tony failed to realize that, instead focusing on his misery, impulses and hunger to power.

"OH-OH-OH!!!!"
idk why but that was awesome
0:01 the statue is Hindu goddess Kali. Yeah you can find Her in many Indian restaurants but She destroy evil to protect innocent. I don’t think it’s unintentional
Its not Kali its Vishnu
Met Big Puss in Palm Beach Airport , super nice guy got an autograph, a pic with him and he said “ and some zuppa di mussels “ for me
Once again the subtle symbolism and the deeper meaning behind objects never fails to disappoint when it comes to The Soprano's.
Still farting a year later?
Give me an f-ing break. If they'd had pork you'd say he was swine or cooperating with the pigs. Steak would symbolize his beef with Tony. Chicken that he was afraid of prison.
heheheje fucking tarot readers...
Silvio's wig is brown. Tony later says ' Fuckin' James Brown now' during Chris' wake. It's all connected!
@@skipads5141 "Chicken that he was afraid of prison." Or he's black.
