I'm really interested to see how a different studio handles difficulty and balance. Having so many different difficulties across D2, from patrols to nightfalls to contest mode to the nonlinear power difference scaling, creates a ton of whiplash for new players. I'm also interested in seeing all the new stuff ngl. I just hope that the f2p mobile nature of the game doesn't hurt the experience too much. Also the fact that melee has been nerfed countless times across all classes (mostly titans), I'm curious if they'll avoid this issue entirely by not having distinct class identities.
It'll be completely disconnected from typical activity structure and likely not have much skill-based difficulty. Most mobile games of the same style just use DPS or support-based checks for all endgame content.
Until we see the activities and characters, we won't know but we're talking two different kinds of games here. D2, we balance most weapon types and abilities across the board. The mobile game can balance abilities individually since they'll be tied to characters, allowing for more fine tuning. Idk about weapons but I'm going to assume they're going to also be fine tuned individually since that's how most gachas work. That's also just how gacha games are in terms of balancing.
Also melees were nerfed because people were punching harder than 1-off supers. Yes it's fun, but not healthy in terms of balance.
I mean it’s a Chinese mobile game with heroes. Meaning there will be no balance. Any problems with balance will be rectified by releasing a new character that fixes those issues. Gotta roll for the fix.
inb4 this game has a better player on-boarding experience than d2...
Mobile games usually do because they are so good at predatory practices since they rake in money for zero investment.
It 100% will because it’s pretty much a brand new game
That's not exactly a high bar
Well duh, if a new game has a worse on-boarding experience than a 7 year old game then there's some major issues
@@ZombieZlayer99there are so many games 7+ years old that have a better tutorial/on-board than D2
Tbh, as a PC and mobile gamer myself, I’m super hyped for this game. I would be more hyped if there was a PC port, but I know how mobile games nowadays are polished up and structured. I feel like this will be a good game. I used to play Destiny and Destiny 2 when they released. I kinda stopped playing around the time we started seeing the pyramid ships arrive, and I haven’t been back since. I got burnt out of the game, but I think this is different enough to get me back. I am hoping that they eventually make a PC port because shooters like this I feel is much better on PC.
The problem with mobile games is that they are not designed as a "bringing this game to your phones!" type, as they advertise.
Theyre literally meant to generate as much money as possible through hostile and anti-friendly consumer practices. Totalbiscuit is rolling in his grave right now.
How does that differ from Bungie? At least NetEase won't delete locations I purchased the way Bungie did - because it's actual F2P. Bungie is the most despicable and dishonest game developer on the planet.
@@martyk656 Because the mobile market is the highest grossing gaming market in the world. The entire goal of it is to make money. They are the original gotcha games.
Traditional gaming media is meant to entice the customer to purchase the media for continual support. Mobile gaming wants you to spend atleast $5 and let the whales spend the rest.
Just because its the *same* in your eyes doesnt mean that you should be supporting shit like this.
@@kibblevertI think he meant that Bungie was just as shitty as mobile game companies.
Destiny 2 is also advertised as a ""free to play"" game despite it being much closer to a free to try, not a complete FTP experience. And the shit Bungie gets away with makes Activision look like CD Projekt.
It's literally Genshin Impact but with guns.
Each character will cost "gems" to gamble for, each one will only use one type of weapon (of which will also be gambled for), and each character will have a different super and grenade/melee since this takes place before "classes" were a thing in the lore.
Prepare to grind 80-100hrs a week F2P to be meta, or pay over 100$ every few weeks to get the new (read: meta) stuff.

This actually looks pretty fun, but I'd only consider playing it if they launch it on PC as well. I've played a few other "mobile" games (HSR, Genshin, Wuthering Waves), but I never actually play them on mobile devices. Phone screens are just too small, especially since half of the screen space is covered by my hands for touch screen controls. Plugging a controller into my phone takes the "mobile" part out of the equation, at which point there's no reason to use said phone over a PC or console. Games like these are just 100x better on a large monitor with a controller plugged in.

In this universe, the Awoken seem to have made the wise decision to stay in the Distributary.
They’ve just confirmed on the discord for the game that you can in fact use a controller, for anyone curious
Well, if it isn't taking up bungie dev time then I suppose no harm no foul. But announcing the destiny mobile game given the current optics of destiny/bungie as a whole is definitely a tone deaf decision
Even if it used some Bungie dev time. It would be worth it if it's good enough to last. It's only bad optics to people that don't understand that they need money to actually keep their games running and employees employed, particularly when their only game takes a nosedive.
They ideally need multiple revenue streams. It's completely mad that they didn't start these projects years before they actually did. The current situation is why they need things like this, it's not a reason against it.
Having one sole game for so long is not exactly sustainable, particularly with a game and community as volatile as Destiny. Not many studios can pull it off, any hiccup can cause massive issues.
If they had these extra revenue streams, like Marathon and Destiny Rising, 2 years back they might have been able to mitigate some of the damages that caused the lay-offs in the first place. Having multiple games acts as a safety net.
Of course there needs to be balance though. Having a ton of projects (was it 5?) in incubation was way too risky and money hungry, it split resources up way too much. Thankfully they shut the others down.
Hopefully, if it's well received and we see some crossover abilities and items. Probably not all, but, since they share some weapons we might get some stuff in the main game and it would be a good selling point for the new frontiers expansions.
Ik its an alt timeline but i hope its canon because this can give alot of lore/context to the Dark Age
Don’t think it will be canon, but thing it will have a lot of parallels to what happened during the Dark Age.
With all the inconsistencies just shown in the trailer. Please no! The gameplay looks interesting but it does not respect Destiny's lore whatsoever.
That being said, I'm glad they'll finally have another revenue stream. Particularly in the mobile space, it's profitable.

@@BrazarB just one off the top of my head, eliksni being very people friendly is, as far as im aware, unheard of pre D2 and reef, so having a Fallen Vednor shown directly in the trailer likely means the conflict between the 2 in this timeline isnt so black and white.
They confirmed it to be non-canon.
But I guess you could headcanon it as one of the failed timelines Elsie Bray went through lol
The thing that interests me most is how this alternate timeline is going to be different, like it plays around the time of the iron lords, but there are already some sort of peacefull eliksni.
This game is very much not directed at us main Destiny players. Console and Mobile gaming are very different markets, there isn't as much of a crossover as people think.

I’ve been trying to get bungie to make a mythic level item for years! My idea is that there are multiple items that give significant power/strength/ability…but you could only ever have one mythic level item at a time. You would need to trade it in for another piece but only after running a mythic mission to receive it.
Judging off the trailer it looks pretty cool, and part of me wishes it was content for the main game. It's still a mobile game though, so i'm gonna keep expectations low.
Offhand I can see it following a format similar to Warframe with the characters being more self contained sets of abilities that don't really crossover with each other very much. (Which I guess is really standard in any sort F2P Gachya style of game.)
Though, we have people complaining about how Destiny 2 is overmonetized with its MTX store (Which IMO is more of an overarching industry problem than something Destiny specific.) they haven't seen anything yet when it comes to how crazy Microtransactions can get when it comes to Mobile games that make it easy for people to throw away entire paychecks on a whim.
You know who I ACTUALLY feel bad for? The lore hounds. Imagine how much extra random lore that is going to be canon now 😂

As somebody who fell out of destiny two after they started doing battle passes, I’m actually pretty excited about the mobile game, I love the world and having an easily accessible destiny adjacent thing is exciting. I hope it’s good, I doubt it, but I’ll hope.
i think it's so important to recognize that sometimes things aren't made for you and that's okay, not everything has to be. i think the art looks pretty good for this, and i think that scythe super looks SICK, and uhhh. that's all the thoughts i have! this clearly isn't For Me and i'm just glad people who would enjoy this might get something cool in their sphere, so long as monetization isn't shitty - but that's yet to be seen.
With the rise of game streaming services, such as GeForce NOW, I think this could be a way to exist as a way to get people interested in the overall universe but unless Destiny 2's player onboarding improves I do not think Bungie will have an easy time converting Destiny Rising players to play Destiny 2 long term.
I can't explain how relieved I was to learn that destiny rising wasn't just going to be a 1 to 1 port of destiny, and is actually going to be its own game altogether
Honestly, I don't play D2 anymore, so I'd give this a try. But gotcha aspects have me nervous it won't be playable unless I put money in.
Brim wrapped up in a blankie is my vibe rn 😢❤
A PC port like Diablo Immortal would be cool but I bet Bungie doesn’t want the competition on PC or console.
Dude, like every Netease games have a PC version/port, we will surely get a PC version of Destiny Rising too.
