david ruffin had an amazing run. he was still at his peak in 1980 when he came out with the album that had him and the lady on the front cover that had the song 'make love one more time'. he had already been in the game singing for 20 years at that point. so he didn't crash and burn like people think. he survived the late 60's, the entire 70's, and a majority of the 80' in one piece when vices were bein used by all entertainers..even Chaka Khan revealed she had an addiction to drugs during her entire time when she she was in the spotlight real heavily. I think when crack came out, things got bad because it's not as controllable as powder cocaine. It's a different level. But he was a fly dude who could sing very well, spoke very properly and was well-educated, and he hid his private life from the public. He came up in an era where drinking and smoking cigarettes were normal, and he may have had some unaddressed psychological issues..those men dealt with legal racism...their parents were only a generation or two removed from slavery..so a lot of those men may have had issues. and a lot of those men from that era were regular guys from the neighorhood who were made superstars because they had a nice voice. They were regular humans. At least they didn't promote their bad lifestyle habits like rappers do today. Plus David had his little signature howl that he would do. The man could sing very well live, especially if he was feeling the song. One of the greatest singers of all time and I think he was the only solo singer from the 60s/70s who did that little move where he threw the mic in the air, spinned around, and caught it. Smokey Robinson was even addicted to cocaine...he admitted it in his Vlad interview. So David really gets a bad reputation because everybody was on drugs back then in the industry and even now. If David didn't pass away at such a young age, he would have been less controversial and celebrated more.
I mean, he made it to 50. Not saying that's old but it's not like he died in his 20s. Unfortunately people sometimes remember how u die, instead of how u live. David Ruffin was a legend, as far as his voice, his class, his stage presence he never lost not even a pinch. His rehearsals are almost as good as his shows-- you might have to be a musician to appreciate how iconic that really is. He didn't know how to turn it down.
Fans, admit this he sounds voice wise like his father. Sure, if Paul Jr AND David Jr was in Otis group it be an honor. But disrespectful to those OW has chosen to carry on that legacy. But like Dennis did and greatly was form group and hold up the name.
Thanks for being vigilant, as you continue to preserve and promote the work of Mr David Ruffin. And thanks for sharing the announcements of special moments.
DRJ is the og and his pops a definite Legend I always hear the old Motown stories from the Elders The session bass Player i believe he is referring to is the fam OG Tony Green from the Dramatics, also my friends Dad played Drums for Deathrow the OG Butch Smalls he was in the Dramatics with Temptations and was in Parliament Funkadelic (who started in Detroit) Bigg Respect
I disagree with him about the other Temptations being chess pieces. Ali Woodson from the Temptations was one of the great singers too. My favorite song by David Ruffin was “walk away from love”. Ali sing that song too and did a good job.
David Sr was also a drummer, but was not a drummer for the Temptations. That rumor was started by Otis, truth is DR replaced Bryant after he laid Paul Williams face open with a bottle.
Sorry, so he came up with a line in the chorus and didn’t get credit but expecting something from the liquor business off that 30 years old song? He went to court and lost the case, so what makes him think he’s entitled to anything?
It's called theft! His writing, his voice on that Hook! Under the law he was entitled to payment/royalties! Too bad Snoop has acted like a total azzhat and claiming to be a born again christian‼️ sorry God doesn't like ugly & David Jr was mistreated by Snoop & DeathRow records!
Hilarious he did work with Benzino and Snoop. Fast forward to now and see if that would work out well🫣🤣🤣 Sidenote: sir you do know Dr. Dre was using you to do reference tracks to his ideas. A reference track is just that. The artist takes over and turns it into a song. If you didn’t do your due diligence to have proper paperwork, that’s your fault you never got a cut! Just saying something is yours means absolutely nothing in court!🤷🏾♂️

Yes David Ruffin Sr is a Detroit legend
Michael Jackson paid for his funeral 🙏🏽👑🕊🙏🏿 rip to both

Leon played the role of David Ruffin excellent
Great show and interview. I am a fan of the show and now a fan of Ruffin Jr.
Not too shabby, Son! You handled that.❤
Very informative. Great interview with DRJ.
Great Interview!!!
your beautiful
@@kelvinmanley6166Thank you ✨
Awesome show bro
It sucks that DRJ wasn’t interviewed by actual Temptations fans & people that had better questions/insight.
I was thinking the same thing.
Give me some suggestions as to who he should sit with and I'll make it happen.

@@midtownradioandrecordsan interview with R&B Showcase TV would be cool, they seem to be real fans of old school music and the Temptations.

Love Love Love this.💜💜💜
With everything that he has been thru, he's being the best he can be.
I see his dad all over him.
I wish him the very best in the future.
Happy 58th Birthday David Ruffin Jr. 🎂

Bigg Respect
Did those guys do any research on D Ruff? And do they know anything about rap music? Because it seems like the answer to both is no.
I disagree with him about the other Temptations being chess pieces. Ali Woodson from the Temptations was one of the great singers too. My favorite song by David Ruffin was “walk away from love”. Ali sing that song too and did a good job.
He was referring to their lack of power in the company not talent
Almighty RSO and Made Men were dope as hell
The Almighty RSO is Benzino original group.. Real Hip-Hop
He looks like his uncle Jimmy Ruffin.
Why Ol Boy look like White Nipsey?
Derj said the truth! DR was the Temptations! Great interview‼️
👑💯🏆🥂
Naw I think white boy got his singers confused. Teddy P was the drummer turned singer
David Sr was also a drummer, but was not a drummer for the Temptations. That rumor was started by Otis, truth is DR replaced Bryant after he laid Paul Williams face open with a bottle.
Snoop dogg doing questionable things that fits from different stories two
He looks just like his Daddy!!

It was more than that...and if you worked for something YOU would want to get Paid! GTFOH
Its different when you're voice is on the record. Yes he's entitled writing a hook can earn you 6 to 12.5 %

Yout father was not the temptations if he was they would have disbanded when he left but they only got better. Love him tho.
David Ruffin Jr is hard to listen to. You talk really long and slllllooooooowwwww.
He talks and speaks just like his dad.
Great guests, HORRIBLE FORMAT. Stop trying to clown your guests on the low, they're giving up good game. Good luck, fellas
Benzion rap group r.s.o
ISRAEL MUST BECOME ONE STICK 💜
Malik’s face gives him away. Annoying as hell. He Can’t figure out why he never went any where.
Stop lying
