Yessss buying penny sweets was my favourite thing as a kid too, there was a bakery next to my primary school and I'd go there after school on a Friday. Also thank you for doing this video - my boyfriend is living in Brussels for a year so I go there about once a month and you've made me so excited for my next visit!!

that is so magical seeing the entire square lit up and "dancing" together. I've seen Christmas video projections/light show on one main building in a square but not the entire square. It's like being surrounded by a dream.
and yup, I remember penny candy, going to the corner store with 50 cents or $1 and buying a stuffed bag of Swedish Berries - grape flavour was the best. I also remember getting big squares of chocolate that were plain or with peanuts. Aww, childhood in the 1970s. You could even buy a small bag of potato chips for 25 cents!

I know exactly what Louis is talking about in regards to the candy!! My father owned a grocery store in NY and he would sell loose or "penny" candy and you could fill up a 1lb brown paper bag for about a dollar.
I totally remember penny candies when I was a kid! Not anymore though hahaha

I never been ice skating. Think I'd just keep falling over. I love the music in your video. I would love one of those waffles. They look delicious. I used to do same as Louis with my pocket money buying sweets. Black jack penny sweets. But I used to like the white mice and the strawberry fruit shaped things /they came in banana too but prefer the strawberry and they cost more so I didn't get 100 sweets. No. Also they used to sell a pouch of tobacco sweets. I loved that tobacco - think it was coconut and something. So chewy and delicious. That cost MORE. Can't remember how much. I prefer chocolate now. Brussels is definitely the Christmas special.

Do Belgian people ever see the Ocean? Do they ever leave their Country? Do they go out after dark or ever leave their house? Do they have any Comedians in Belgium? Do Belgians talk to each other? How does one know which language to speak there? Is it safe to walk in the streets after dark?
I was allowed to spend what was left after buying my family's loaf of bread. It cost 27 cents. So 73 cents of candy. And if we were lucky enough we had some chore money to buy newest Archie comic book. Vlog has me wanting chocolate~ and I have some dark chocolate pieces~*
